This paper presents a smart compensation system based on MCA7707 (a kind of signal processor). The li near errors and high order errors of a sensor (especially piezoresistive sensor) can be corrected by using this system. It can optimize the process of piezoresi stive sensor calibration and compensation, then, a total error factor within 0.2 % of the sensor′s repeatability errors is obtained. Data are recorded and coeff icients are determined automatically by this system, thus, the sensor compensati on is simplified greatly. For operating easily, a wizard compensation program is designed to correct every error and to get the optimum compensation. 展开更多

A functional cathode sodium compensation agent for stable sodium-ion batteries

Hard carbon(HC)is widely used in sodium-ion batteries(SIBs),but its performance has always been limited by lowinitial Coulombic efficiency(ICE)and cycling stability.Cathode compensation agent is a favorable strategy to make up for the loss of active sodium ions consumed byHCanode.Yet it lacks agent that effectively decomposes to increase the active sodium ions as well as regulate carbon defects for decreasing the irreversible sodium ions consumption.Here,we propose 1,2-dihydroxybenzene Na salt(NaDB)as a cathode compensation agent with high specific capacity(347.9 mAh g^(-1)),lower desodiation potential(2.4–2.8 V)and high utilization(99%).Meanwhile,its byproduct could functionalize HC with more C=O groups and promote its reversible capacity.Consequently,the presodiation hard carbon(pHC)anode exhibits highly reversible capacity of 204.7 mAh g^(-1) with 98%retention at 5 C rate over 1000 cycles.Moreover,with 5 wt%NaDB initially coated on the Na3V2(PO4)3(NVP)cathode,the capacity retention of NVP + NaDB|HC cell could increase from 22%to 89%after 1000 cycles at 1 C rate.This work provides a new avenue to improve reversible capacity and cycling performance of SIBs through designing functional cathode compensation agent. 展开更多

A P-band polarimetric synthetic aperture radar(PolSAR)sensor has deep penetration ability into and through the vegetation canopies in forested environments.Thus,the sensor is of great potential to accurately assess forest parameters such as coverage,stand density,and tree height.Unfortunately,the radar backscatter from complex terrain can adversely impact the backscatter from trees or forests,and forest parameters assessed can be erroneous.Thus,reducing the topographic impact is an urgent must.In this study,a topographic compensation algorithm has been studied.To assess the algorithm’s validity and effectiveness,we applied it to P-band PolSAR datasets in four forested areas in the US.Trees in the forest stands have diverse species,and the topographic conditions of the terrain differ.Significant topographic impact on the P-band PolSAR data exists before the topographic compensation algorithm.After the algorithm,the impact decreases noticeably qualitatively and quantitatively.The algorithm is valid and effective in reducing the topographic influence on the PolSAR data and,consequently,provides a better chance of retrieving accurate forest parameters. 展开更多

Aim To eliminate the influences of backlash nonlinear characteristics generally existing in servo systems, a nonlinear compensation method using backpropagation neural networks(BPNN) is presented. Methods Based on some weapon tracking servo system, a three layer BPNN was used to off line identify the backlash characteristics, then a nonlinear compensator was designed according to the identification results. Results The simulation results show that the method can effectively get rid of the sustained oscillation(limit cycle) of the system caused by the backlash characteristics, and can improve the system accuracy. Conclusion The method is effective on sloving the problems produced by the backlash characteristics in servo systems, and it can be easily accomplished in engineering. 展开更多

Experimental Comparison Between PID Control and Friction Compensation Control for a Class of Nonlinear System with Friction

In view of variable frictions caused by the changes of load torque, an experimental comparison was made between the valve? controlled hydraulic motor servo system with PID control and that with friction compensation control. Experimental results show that the gross steady errors are caused by frictions when the system is controlled by the conventional proportional control algorithm. Although the errors can be reduced by introducing the integral control, the limit cycle oscillation and the long setting time are caused. The positioning error for a constant load torque can be eliminated by using fixed friction compensation, but poor positioning accuracy is caused by the same fixed friction compensation when the load torques varies greatly. The dynamic friction compensation based on the error and change in error measurements can significantly improve the position precision in a broad range of the changes of load torque. 展开更多

The optical chaotic communication system using open-loop fiber transmission is studied under strong injection conditions. The optical chaotic communication system with open-loop configuration is studied using fiber transmission under strong injection conditions. The performances of fiber links composed of two types of fiber segments in different dispersion compensation maps are compared by testing the quality of the recovered message with different bit rates and encrypted by chaotic modulation (CM) or chaotic shift keying (CSK). The result indicates that the performance of the pre-compensation map is always worst. Two types of symmetrical maps are identical whatever the encryption method and bit-rate of message are. For the transmitting and the recovering of message of lower bit rate (1 Gb/s), the post-compensation map is the best scheme. However, for the message of higher bit rate (2.5 Gb/s), the parameters in communication system need to be modified properly in order to adapt to the high-speed application. Meanwhile, two types of symmetrical maps are the best scheme. In addition, the CM method is superior to the CSK method for high-speed applications. It is in accordance with the result in a back-to-back configuration system. 展开更多

For studying the dynamic performance of subsea umbilical cable laying system and achieving the goal of cable tension and laying speed control,the rigid finite element method is used to discrete and transform the system into a rigid-flexible coupling multi-body system which consists of rigid elements and spring-damping elements.The mathematical model of subsea umbilical cable laying system kinematic chain is presented with the second order Lagrange equation in the joint coordinate system,and dynamic modeling and simulation is performed with ADAMS.The dynamic analysis is conducted assuming the following three statuses:ideal laying,practical laying under wave disturbance,and practical laying with tension compensation.Results show that motion disturbances of the laying budge under sea waves,especially with heaving and pitching,will cause relatively serious fluctuations in cable tension and laying speed.Tension compensation,i.e.,active back tension torque control can restrict continuous tension increasing or decreasing effectively and rapidly,thus avoiding cable breach or buckling. 展开更多

This paper reports that the designed optical polarization mode dispersion compensator shows a good performance under the real-time variation of differential group delay, state of polarization and principal state of polarization in a (40×43)-Gb/s dense-wavelength-multiplexing, 1200-km enhanced return-to-zero differential-quadrature-phase-shift- keying (RZ-DQPSK) system. The polarization mode dispersion tolerance of the system is improved by 26 ps using the optical polarization mode dispersion compensator. The short and long time stabilities are tested with the bit error ratio recorded. 展开更多

A dispersion compensation method is introduced to correct the distorted image passing through an ultrathin metal film.An LCD-CCD system is modeled by the back propagation network and used to evaluate the transmittance of the ultrathin metal film.Training samples for the network come from 729 images captured by shooting test patches,in which the RGB values are uniformity distributed between 0 and 255.The RGB value of the original image that will be distorted by the dispersion is first transformed by mapping from the LCD to the CCD,multiplied by the inverse matrix of the transmittance matrix,and finally transformed by mapping from the CCD to the LCD,then the corrected image is obtained.In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method,ultrathin aluminum films with different thicknesses are evaporated on glass substrates and laid between the CCD and LCD.Experimental results show that the proposed method compensates for the dispersion successfully. 展开更多

In this paper the control mechanism of solenoid valve is analyzed,which shows the solenoid valve control is actually the control of coil current.The response characteristic of coil current is related to coil inductance and resistance.The coil resistance is influenced greatly by the ambient temperature and the self-heating of coil,which affects the control precision of coil current.First,considering the heat dissipation mode of coil,the coil temperature model is established from the perspective of heat conduction,and a temperature compensation algorithm for hydraulic system pressure control is put forward.Then the hardware-in-the-loop testbed is set up by using the dSPACE platform,carrying out wheel cylinder pressurization tests with inlet valve fully opened at-40℃ and 20℃,and testing the actual pressure of wheel cylinder with the target pressures at-40℃ and 6 000 kPa/s(pressurization rate).The results show that the pressure control temperature compensation algorithm proposed in this paper accurately corrects the influence of resistance temperature drift on the response accuracy of wheel cylinder pressure.After the correction,the pressure difference is less than 500 kPa,which can meet the control accuracy requirements of solenoid valve,enriching the linear control characteristic of solenoid valve. 展开更多

In order to improve the Power Quality(PQ)of traction power supply system and reduce the power rating and operation cost of compensator,a Static VAR Compensator(SVC)integrated Railway Power Conditioner(RPC)is presented in this paper.RPC is a widely used device in the AC electrified railway systems to enhance the PQ indices of the main network.The next generation of this equipment is Active Power Quality Compensator(APQC).The major concern of these compensators is their high kVA rating.In this paper,a hybrid technique is proposed to solve aforementioned problems.A combination of SVC as an auxiliary device is employed together with the main compensators,i.e.,RPC and APQC that leads on to the reduction of power rating of the main compensators.The use of proposed scheme will cause to reduce significantly the initial investment cost of compensation system.The main compensators are only utilized to balance active powers of two adjacent feeder sections and suppress harmonic currents.The SVCs are used to compensate reactive power and suppress the third and fifth harmonic currents.In this paper firstly,the PQ compensation procedure in AC electrified railway is analyzed step by step.Then,the control strategies for SVC and the main compensators are presented.Finally,a simulation is fulfilled using Matlab/Simulink software to verify the effectiveness and validity of the proposed scheme and compensation strategy and also demonstrate that this technique could compensate all PQ problems. 展开更多

The hip’s lower limb exoskeleton essential and most important function is to support human’s payload as well as to enhance and assist human’s motion. It utilizes an electro-hydraulic servo manipulator which is required to achieve precise trajectory tracking and positioning operations. Nevertheless,these tasks require precise and robust control,which is very difficult to attain due to the inherent nonlinear dynamic behavior of the electro-hydraulic system caused by flow-pressure characteristics and fluid volume control variations of the servo valve. The sliding mode controller(SMC)is a widely used nonlinear robust controller,yet uncertainties and delay in the output degrade the closed-loop system performance and cause system instability. This work proposes a robust controller scheme that counts for the output delay and the inherent parameter uncertainties. Namely,a sliding mode controller enhanced by time-delay compensating observer for a typical electro-hydraulic servo system is adapted. SMC is utilized for its robustness against servo system parameters’ uncertainty whereas a time-delay observer estimates the variable states of the controller(velocity and acceleration). The main contribution of this paper is improving on the closed loop performance of the electro hydraulic servo system and mitigating the delay time effects. Simulation results prove the robustness of this controller,which forces the position to track the desired path regardless of the changes of the amount of transport delay of the system’s states. The performance of the proposed controller is validated by repeating the simulation analysis while varying the amount of delay time. 展开更多

Experimental results confirm that the digital PGC demodulation can be used for wavelength-division-multiplexed FBG sensor array and the reference compensation method can reduce the environmental interference by approximately 40 dB in the frequency range from 20 Hz to 2 kHz. The minimum detectable wavelength-shift of the sensor system is 1 × 10^-3 pm/Hz^1/2. 展开更多

A tracking stability control problem for the vertical electric stabilization system of moving tank based on adaptive robust servo control is addressed.This paper mainly focuses on two types of possibly fast timevarying but bounded uncertainty within the vertical electric stabilization system:model parameter uncertainty and uncertain nonlinearity.First,the vertical electric stabilization system is constructed as an uncertain nonlinear dynamic system that can reflect the practical mechanics transfer process of the system.Second,the dynamical equation in the form of state space is established by designing the angular tracking error.Third,the comprehensive parameter of system uncertainty is designed to estimate the most conservative effects of uncertainty.Finally,an adaptive robust servo control which can effectively handle the combined effects of complex nonlinearity and uncertainty is proposed.The feasibility of the proposed control strategy under the practical physical condition is validated through the tests on the experimental platform.This paper pioneers the introduction of the internal nonlinearity and uncertainty of the vertical electric stabilization system into the settlement of the tracking stability control problem,and validates the advanced servo control strategy through experiment for the first time. 展开更多

Comparisons of the compensation results between PDM coherent optical-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CO-OFDM)system and the single carrier(SC) PDM quadrature phase shift keying(QPSK) system are provided as well. The results demonstrate that nonlinear compensation effect with mid-span OPC in PDM CO-OFDM system is much more obvious than that in SC PDM QPSK system. 展开更多

The effect of random crystal field, ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic exchange interaction on hysteresis loops and compensation phenomenon are discussed. A number of characteristic phenomena have been reported such as the observation of triple hysteresis loops at low temperatures and for negative values of random crystal field. Critical and double compensation temperatures have been also found. The obtained results are also compared to some previous works. 展开更多

A novel dual polarization differential quadrature phase shift keying (DP-DQPSK) system is proposed, whose receiver is the same as the single polarization DQPSK system, while it does not need polarization de-multiplexing like the conventional polarization division multiplexing QPSK (PDM-QPSK). Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is mainly considered and PMD compensation for the DP-DQPSK system is studied. As the feedback signal for PMD compensation, the degree of polarization of the signals is discussed in detail. The results show that PMD tolerance can be improved by 89 ps within 1 dB optical signal noise ratio penalty after PMD compensation for the DP-DQPSK system. 展开更多

We demonstrate a novel and stable frequency transfer scheme over ground-to-satellite link based on real-time carrier-phase detection and compensation.We performed a zero-baseline measurement with the designed system,an uninterrupted frequency standard signal is recovered in the reception station without additional post-correction of delay error caused in the route,which is because the phase error of the entire route is tracked and compensated continuously in real-time.To achieve this goal,we employed two carriers in the system and the differential signal is transferred in order to eliminate the instability results from the local oscillator at the satellite transponder as well as the common-mode noise induced in the transfer route and microwave components.The stability of 3×10^(-16) with an integration time of 1 day was achieved and the time fluctuation during one day was measured to be about±20 ps.Error sources and possible solutions are discussed.Our zero-baseline method shows a promising result for real-time satellite-based time and frequency transfer and deserves further research to find whether it works between long-baseline stations. 展开更多
