In this work,we investigate the covert communication in cognitive radio(CR)networks with the existence of multiple cognitive jammers(CJs).Specifically,the secondary transmitter(ST)helps the primary transmitter(PT)to relay information to primary receiver(PR),as a reward,the ST can use PT's spectrum to transmit private information against the eavesdropper(Eve)under the help of one selected cognitive jammer(CJ).Meanwhile,we propose three jammer-selection schemes,namely,link-oriented jammer selection(LJS),min-max jammer selection(MMJS)and random jammer selection(RJS).For each scheme,we analyze the average covert throughput(ACT)and covert outage probability(COP).Our simulation results show that CJ is helpful to ST's covert communication,the expected minimum detection error probability and ACT can be significantly improved with the increase of false alarm of CJ.Moreover,the LJS scheme achieves best performance in ACT and COP,followed by RJS scheme,and MMJS scheme shows the worst performance. 展开更多

In this paper,a cooperative spectrum sensing scheme,which is based on cooperation of a certain number of secondary users and cooperative diversity under multi-antenna scenario,is proposed.Under multi-antenna scenario,we set a targeted detection probability and optimize the false alarm probability of the network by choosing a certain number of secondary users with the highest primary user’s signal to noise ratio.The detection performance of the network is also evaluated when all the secondary users are cooperating to illustrate the benefits of the proposed scheme as a contrast.In addition,how to choose the detection threshold of the secondary user is analyzed for the purpose of decreasing the average risk.Theory analysis and simulation results show that the optimum false alarm probability can be derived by cooperating a certain number of secondary users rather than all the secondary users and the detection performance of the network can be further improved if secondary users are equipped with multiple antennas.Also,a minimum average risk can be obtained by optimizing the detection threshold. 展开更多

For multiuser multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) cognitive radio (CR) networks a four-stage transmiision structure is proposed. In learning stage, the learning-based algorithm with low overhead and high flexibility is exploited to estimate the channel state information ( CSI ) between primary (PR) terminals and CR terminals. By using channel training in the second stage of CR frame, the channels between CR terminals can be achieved. In the third stage, a multi-criteria user selection scheme is proposed to choose the best user set for service. In data transmission stage, the total capacity maximization problem is solved with the interference constraint of PR terminals. Finally, simulation results show that the multi-criteria user selection scheme, which has the ability of changing the weights of criterions, is more flexible than the other three traditional schemes and achieves a tradeoff between user fairness and system performance. 展开更多

A cognitive radio(CR) network with energy harvesting(EH) is considered to improve both spectrum efficiency and energy efficiency. A hidden Markov model(HMM) is used to characterize the imperfect spectrum sensing process. In order to maximize the whole satisfaction degree(WSD) of the cognitive radio network, a tradeoff between the average throughput of the secondary user(SU) and the interference to the primary user(PU) is analyzed. We formulate the satisfaction degree optimization problem as a mixed integer nonlinear programming(MINLP) problem. The satisfaction degree optimization problem is solved by using differential evolution(DE) algorithm. The proposed optimization problem allows the network to adaptively achieve the optimal solution based on its required quality of service(Qos). Numerical results are given to verify our analysis. 展开更多

To solve the problem of the low interference success rate of air defense missile radio fuzes due to the unified interference form of the traditional fuze interference system,an interference decision method based Q-learning algorithm is proposed.First,dividing the distance between the missile and the target into multiple states to increase the quantity of state spaces.Second,a multidimensional motion space is utilized,and the search range of which changes with the distance of the projectile,to select parameters and minimize the amount of ineffective interference parameters.The interference effect is determined by detecting whether the fuze signal disappears.Finally,a weighted reward function is used to determine the reward value based on the range state,output power,and parameter quantity information of the interference form.The effectiveness of the proposed method in selecting the range of motion space parameters and designing the discrimination degree of the reward function has been verified through offline experiments involving full-range missile rendezvous.The optimal interference form for each distance state has been obtained.Compared with the single-interference decision method,the proposed decision method can effectively improve the success rate of interference. 展开更多

The ability to intelligently utilize resources to meet the need of growing diversity in services and user behavior marks the future of wireless communication systems. Intelligent wireless communications aims at enabling the system to perceive and assess the available resources, to autonomously learn to adapt to the perceived wireless environment, and to reconfigure its operating mode to maximize the utility of the available resources. The perception capability and reconfigurability are the essential features of cognitive radio while modern machine learning techniques project great potential in system adaptation. In this paper, we discuss the development of the cognitive radio technology and machine learning techniques and emphasize their roles in improving spectrum and energy utility of wireless communication systems. We describe the state-of-the-art of relevant techniques, covering spectrum sensing and access approaches and powerful machine learning algorithms that enable spectrum and energy-efficient communications in dynamic wireless environments. We also present practical applications of these techniques and identify further research challenges in cognitive radio and machine learning as applied to the existing and future wireless communication systems. 展开更多

But the resource all... Radio spectrum has become a rare resource due to the rapid development of wireless communication technique. Cognitive radio is one of important techniques to deal with this radio spectrum problem. But the resource allocation in cognitive radio also has its own issues, such as the flexibility of the allocation algorithm, the performance of resource allocation, and so on. In order to increase the flexibility of the allocation algorithm for cognitive radio, more and more researches are focusing on the evolutionary algorithms, such as genetic algorithm(GA), particle swarm optimization(PSO). Evolutionary algorithm can greatly improve the flexibility of the allocation algorithm for cognitive radio system in different communication scenarios, but the performances are relatively lower than the original mathematical methods. So in this paper, we proposed an adaptive resource allocation algorithm based on modified PSO for cognitive radio system to solve these problems. Modified particle swarm optimization(Modified PSO) has both genetic algorithm(GA) and particle swarm optimization(PSO)’s updating processes which makes this modified PSO overcame PSO’s own disadvantages and keep advantages. Simulation results showed our proposed algorithm has enough flexibility to meet cognitive radio systems’ requirements, and also has a better performance than original PSO. 展开更多

Dynamic spectrum access(DSA) based on cognitive radios(CR) technique is an effective approach to address the "spectrum scarcity" issue. However, traditional CR-enabled DSA system employs only single DSA strategy, which might not be suited to the dynamic network environment. In this paper, we propose a multi-strategy DSA(MS-DSA) system, where the primary and the secondary system share spectrum resources with multiple DSA strategies simultaneously. To analyze the performance of the proposed MS-DSA system, we model it as a continuous-time Markov chain(CTMC) and derive the expressions to compute the corresponding performance metrics. Based on this, we define a utility function involving the concerns of effective throughput, interference quantity on primary users, and spectrum leasing cost. Two optimization schemes, named as spectrum allocation and false alarm probability selection, are proposed to maximize the utility function. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to validate our analysis and demonstrate that the performance can be significantly improved caused by virtues of the proposed MS-DSA system. 展开更多

Spectrum sensing is a key technology for cognitive radios.We present spectrum sensing as a classification problem and propose a sensing method based on deep learning classification.We normalize the received signal power to overcome the effects of noise power uncertainty.We train the model with as many types of signals as possible as well as noise data to enable the trained network model to adapt to untrained new signals.We also use transfer learning strategies to improve the performance for real-world signals.Extensive experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of this method.The simulation results show that the proposed method performs better than two traditional spectrum sensing methods,i.e.,maximum-minimum eigenvalue ratio-based method and frequency domain entropy-based method.In addition,the experimental results of the new untrained signal types show that our method can adapt to the detection of these new signals.Furthermore,the real-world signal detection experiment results show that the detection performance can be further improved by transfer learning.Finally,experiments under colored noise show that our proposed method has superior detection performance under colored noise,while the traditional methods have a significant performance degradation,which further validate the superiority of our method. 展开更多

A novel centralized approach for Dynamic Spectrum Allocation (DSA) in the Cognitive Radio (CR) network is presented in this paper. Instead of giving the solution in terms of formulas modeling network environment such as linear programming or convex optimization, the new approach obtains the capability of iteratively on-line learning environment performance by using Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithm after observing the variability and uncertainty of the heterogeneous wireless networks. Appropriate decision-making access actions can then be obtained by employing Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) which ensures the strategy being able to explore the possible status and exploit the experiences sufficiently. The new approach considers multi-objective such as spectrum efficiency and fairness between CR Access Points (AP) effectively. By interacting with the environment and accumulating comprehensive advantages, it can achieve the largest long-term reward expected on the desired objectives and implement the best action. Moreover, the present algorithm is relatively simple and does not require complex calculations. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can get better performance with respect to fixed frequency planning scheme or general dynamic spectrum allocation policy. 展开更多

The results show that the adaptive niche immune genetic algorithm performs better than the other three algorithms in terms of the multi-user cognitive radio network resource allocation, and has quick convergence speed and strong global searching capability, which effectively reduces the system power consumption and bit error rate. 展开更多

EE is described as a tradeoff between the throughput and the entirely consumed power. A joint optimization problem is formulated to maximize EE by jointly optimizing local sensing time, number of cooperative sensing secondary users(SU), transmission bandwidth and power. A combined optimization algorithm of bi-level optimization, Polyblock optimization and Dinkelbach's optimization is proposed to solve the proposed non-convex optimization problem effectively. The simulation results show that, compared with throughput maximization model(TMM), the energy efficiency maximization model(EEMM) improves EE of the CR system and limits the excessive power consumption effectively. 展开更多

Cognitive Radio Network provides an opportunity to reduce the spectrum resource crisis by allowing secondary users to access the idle spectrum allocated to primary users. The precondition of spectrum sharing is to obtain the Spectrum Availability Information(SAI). Energy detection is a typical technology to get SAI. With the mobility of primary users, the energy received by secondary users varies greatly with the distance from the target primary users. Most of the existing energy detection algorithms that use fixed thresholds are not suitable. We propose a Dynamic Matching-Based Spectrum Detection(DMBSD) scheme which can detect sensing data, reduce the impact of malicious data and make final sensing results more accurate with dynamic threshold setting and data matching. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can detect tempered data, and increase detection probability by decreasing false alarm probability and missed detection probability. 展开更多

Two thresholds are adopted to divide the possible energy value into three weighted regions. If the energy value falls into the corresponding region,it will be judged as "1",no information or "0". When the probability of false alarm is constrained to be constant,the objective is to maximize the probability of detection. The optimization problem is simplified by separating the weight of the middle region into several intervals. Simulation results show that the sensing performance of the proposed scheme is much better than that of the traditional one bit hard combination scheme and almost the same as that of the equal gain combination(EGC) scheme. Moreover,compared with the traditional one bit hard combination,fewer average sensing bits are required to transmit to the data fusion center with the proposed method. 展开更多

In this paper,we consider a new spectrum sharing scenario for a cognitive relay network,where a secondary unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)relay receives information from the ground secondary base station(SBS)and transmits information to the ground secondary user(SU),coexisting with the primary users(PUs)at the same wireless frequency band.We investigate the optimization of the UAV relay’s three-dimensional(3D)trajectory to improve the communication throughput performance of the secondary network subject to the interference constraints of the PUs.The information throughput maximization problem is studied by jointly optimizing the UAV relay’s 3D trajectory and the transmit power of the SBS and the UAV,subject to the constraints on the velocity and elevation of the UAV relay,the maximum and average transmit power,and the information causality,as well as a set of interference temperature(IT)constraints.An efficient algorithm is proposed to solve the admittedly challenging non-convex problem by using the path discretization technique,the successive convex approximation technique and the alternating optimization method.Finally,simulation results are provided to show that our proposed design outperforms other benchmark schemes in terms of the throughput。 展开更多

In this paper,the transmission performances are studied in cognitive radio networks with primary user emulator and relay existence.In the proposed network,the users include primary users,secondary users and primary user emulators.The decreasing access priority of the users are primary users,primary user emulators and secondary users.Different user access to the network results in different transmission effects.We impose interference power constraints on the secondary users to protect the primary users from being interfered.We also adopt the transmission mechanism that transits among more than one secondary transmitters,secondary receivers and relays.The transition models of the transmission states are proposed to describe the transmission mechanism.To investigate the transmission performances,the theory of effective capacity is adopted.The transmission performances in terms of effective capacity are expressed and demonstrated under different transmission policies.The overall effective capacity,as the overall data traffic in the cognitive radio network,is calculated.Besides,the overall effective capacity is demonstrated under different transmission strategies.The results show the greedy transmission strategy outperforms the rest of the transmission 8 policies in the overall effective capacity.For a larger number of the users,the effective capacity converges to a certain value. 展开更多

First, we propose the interfer- ence constraint which ensures that the Quality of Service (QoS) standards for primary users is considered and a non-cooperative game power control model. Based on the proposed model, we developed a logical utility function based on the Signal-to-Interference-Noise Ratio (S/NR) and a novel algorithm network power control. that is suitable for CR Then, the existence and uniqueness of the Nash Equilibrium (NE) in our utility function are proved by the principle of game theory and the corresponding optimi- zations. Compared to traditional algorithms, the proposed one could converge to an NE in 3-5 iterative operations by setting an appropriate pricing factor.
