An Application of Genetic Algorithm in Positioning Bricks

A method by genetic algori thm is given to solve this problem. By this method, the numbers of whole brick a nd their position are gained when given areas are convex polygon and brick is re ctangular, and you can easily design a CAD soft to optimize the scheme of positi oning bricks. It is huge advantage by this method when given areas are nonregula r. Some rules of parameter’s influence to algorithm are pointed out by computer simulation. The first section states the problem and the math model of problem is given out. The second section gives out the solution by genetic algorithm, in cluding description of genetic algorithm and steps of algorithm about proble m of positioning bricks. The third section gives a computer simulation example. The last section is some discussions about this algorithm, including the influen ce of parameter to algorithm and optimizing parameter. Clay brick masonry unit(CBMU) walls are widely used in building structures,and its damage and protection under explosion loads have been a matter of concern in the field of engineering protection.In this paper,a series of full-scale experiments of the response characteristics of 24 cm CMBU walls unreinforced and reinforced with polyurea elastomer subjected to blast loading were carried out.Through setting 5.0 kg TNT charges at different stand-off distances,the damage characteristics of masonry walls at different scaled distances were obtained.The reinforcement effect of different polyurea coating thicknesses and methods on the blast resistance performance of masonry walls under single and repeated loads were also explored.Five failure grades were summarized according to the dynamic response features of masonry walls.Based on the stress wave propagation pattern in multi-media composite structures,the internal stress distribution of masonry walls were analyzed,and the division basis of the masonry walls’ failure grades was then quantified.Combined with Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)images,the deformation characteristics of soft and hard segments of polyurea and effects of detonation products on microstructures were revealed respectively,which provides an important reference for the design and application of polyurea in the blast resistance of clay brick masonry walls. 展开更多

In this paper, a new one-dimensional phenomenological model is developed for the assessment of the ballistic performance of Adobe. Adobe is a masonry largely spread in areas of the world involved in military operations. Addressing fundamental ballistic parameters such as residual velocity or penetration depth for this building technology is necessary. The model follows the hypotheses for the ballistic response of concrete targets to high velocity impacts, provided with a dominant contribution of shear friction typical of soils. The hypotheses at the basis of the model are consistent with all experimental evidence collected by authors on Adobe. Adobe brick and mortar belong to the material class of concrete,whereas the overall mechanical parameters are determined by the internal soil mixture, including the percentage of fibre reinforcement. Despite its relative simplicity, the model is capable of well predicting ballistic test results currently available in literature for Adobe, including the data of an experimental campaign recently performed by the authors on real Adobe walls in the field. 展开更多

This study investigates a kind of masonry consisting of clay-fired brick(f_(c)=10 MPa;r=1:38 g/cm^(3))and mortar(f_(c)=10 MPa;r=1:8 g/cm^(3)).Clay-fired brick masonry connotes a traditional construction material of old architecture and public buildings.We carried out penetration experiments in which four clay-fired brick walls employing two different patterns were subjected to impact from small high-speed projectile,i.e.12.7 mm armor-piercing explosive incendiary projectile and material tests in which the static and dynamic compressive strengths of clay-fired brick and mortar were determined by quasi-static and SHPB(Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar)tests.The experimental data include hit and exit velocities,damage configuration of clay brick masonry and mechanical properties of material at low and high strain rates,though which influence of thickness and bonding patterns of wall on kinetic loss of bullet,the damage patterns of masonry observed experimentally and dynamic increase of material strengths are analyzed.To keep minimum boundary inconsistency with reality,full 3D detailed finite element model consisting of two different material is established.Sharing common nodes and employing automatic tiebreak contact are combined to reduce computational time usage of large-scale model.For description of clay-fired brick and mortar RiedeleHiermaiereThoma(RHT)material model is employed.Material parameter set is derived based on experimental data,available literature and engineering assumptions.The numerical simulations study the mesh resolution dependency of material model,reproduce the crucial phenomena of masonry in experiment acceptably and offer more time-resolved insight into motion of bullet in the process of penetration.The feasibility of means of constructing finite element model and applying RHT model to the masonry herein and analogous constructions is explored through numerical investigation. 展开更多

Numerical simulation on melt flow with bubble stirring and temperature field in aluminum holding furnace 被引量:1

The numerical model for predicting the flow and temperature fields of the melt in holding furnace with porous brick purging system were set up using Euler-Lagrange approach.In this model,bubbles coalescence and disintegration were ignored based on the dimensionless analysis,and the bubble size was assumed to be obedient to Rosin-Rammler distribution with a mean size of 0.6 mm.The results show that on reference operating condition,during the heating and agitation process,melt mixes well in the furnace,and the melt velocity increases with the increase of gas flux.Holding the melt for 30 min causes the max temperature in the bulk melt to increase to 60 K.After holding the heat,the agitation processing restarts,and it takes 10 min for the stratified melt to retrieve the homogeneous temperature field when the gas flux is 10 L/min,which shows deficient alloying and degassing in the melt.With the increase of gas flux from 10 to 20,30 and 40 L/min,the necessary recovery time decreases from 10 to 6,5 and 4 min gradually,which shows the improvement of the stirring efficiency.Depending on the processing purposes,for both good degassing performance and gas saving,proper operating strategy and parameters (gas flux,primarily) could be adjusted. 展开更多

Based on the guizhou bijie zincilate as the main raw material preparation from concrete pavement brick, and the main factors which influence the quality of the products was investigated. The test results show that: Concrete pavement brick compressive strength at 28 days with zinc slag volume increases, zinc slag admixture is 40%, 28 days compressive strength is more than 32 MPa. 展开更多
