Rapid formation of autotrophic partial denitrification(APD)granules is of practical interest to start up an expanded granular sludge bed reactor for wastewater treatment.This study demonstrates that methanogenic granu...Rapid formation of autotrophic partial denitrification(APD)granules is of practical interest to start up an expanded granular sludge bed reactor for wastewater treatment.This study demonstrates that methanogenic granules can be easily acclimated into autotrophic partial denitrification granules in one day,with the ability to remove 82%of 2.7 kg-S/(m^3·d)sulfide into S^0 and to convert 97%of 0.9 kg-N/(m^3·d)nitrate into nitrite,which can provide a promising feedstock for anaerobic ammonia oxidation process.Arcobacter sp.is essential for S^0 accumulation.Under high loadings,the abundance of Arcobacter sp.decreased,while on the contrary the abundance of unclassified_p_Firmicutes increased,leading to the deterioration of autotrophic partial denitrification performance.The granules performance could be recovered by adopting the strategies of properly reducing the influent loadings.展开更多
This paper presents an innovative approach to reusing waste tile granules(TG) and ceramic polishing powder(PP) to produce high performance ceramic tiles.We studied formulations each with a TG mass fraction of 25.0% an...This paper presents an innovative approach to reusing waste tile granules(TG) and ceramic polishing powder(PP) to produce high performance ceramic tiles.We studied formulations each with a TG mass fraction of 25.0% and a different PP mass fraction between 1.0% and 7.0%.The formulations included a small amount of borax additive of a mass fracton between 0.2% and 1.2%.The effects of these industrial by-products on compressive strength,water absorption and microstructure of the new ceramic tiles were investigated.The results indicate that the compressive strength decreases and water absorption increases when TG with a mass fraction of 25.0% are added.Improvement of the compressive strength may be achieved when TG(up to 25.0%) and PP(up to 2.0%) are both used at the same time.In particular,the compressive strength improvement can be maximized and water absorption reduced when a borax additive of up to 0.5% is used as a flux.Scanning electron microscopy reveals that a certain amount of fine PP granules and a high content of fluxing oxides from borax avail the formation of glassy phase that fills up the pores in the new ceramic tiles,resulting in a dense product with high compressive strength and low water absorption.展开更多

Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 2neuropathies (CMT2) are a group of genetically heterogeneous disorders, in which similar peripheral neuropathology isinexplicably caused by various mutated genes. Their possible molecular links remain elusive. Here, we found that uponenvironmental stress, many CMT2-causing mutant proteins adopt similar properties by entering stress granules (SGs), where theyaberrantly interact with G3BP and integrate into SG pathways. For example, glycyl-tRNA synthetase (GlyRS) is translocated fromthe cytoplasm into SGs upon stress, where the mutant GlyRS perturbs the G3BP-centric SG network by aberrantly binding toG3BP. This disrupts SG-mediated stress responses, leading to increased stress vulnerability in motoneurons. Disrupting thisaberrant interaction rescues SG abnormalities and alleviates motor deficits in CMT2D mice. These findings reveal a stressdependentmolecular link across diverse CMT2 mutants and provide a conceptual framework for understanding geneticheterogeneity in light of environmental stress.展开更多

The numerical simulati...Aiming at the impaction among granules of non obstructive particle damping(NOPD), the vibration absorption model for vertical impact of granules is established by adopting Hertz contact theory. The numerical simulation of the granules movement process is proceeded, and the vibration response of a free free uniform beam is obtained for the case when all granules act on it. Through this method, the effect on vibration absorption of impaction is investigated. The simulational data show that multi gra nule vertical impaction is not sensitive to the movement clearance. The vibration absorption is also very well when the clearance changes within a large range. Therefore, the phenomenon that the vibration magnitude may increase if the clearance in a single impact body is improperly selected will not happen. The effect of vibration suppression in the range of middle and high frequencies(2 500~6 000 Hz) is better than that in the range of low frequency(<2 500 Hz). It indicates that the effect on vibration absorption of multi granule can well restrain the vibration of middle and high frequencies.展开更多
