The effect of hot deformation on the quench sensitivity of the 7085 alloy was studied through hardness testing and microstructure characterization.The findings indicate that hot deformation enhances the quench sensiti...The effect of hot deformation on the quench sensitivity of the 7085 alloy was studied through hardness testing and microstructure characterization.The findings indicate that hot deformation enhances the quench sensitivity of the 7085 alloy,with the hardness difference between water quenching and air cooling increasing from 5.4%(before hot deformation)to 10.4%(after hot deformation).In the undeformed samples,the Al3Zr particles within the grains exhibit better coherent with the Al matrix.During slow quenching,only theηphase is observed on Al3Zr particles and at the grain boundaries.Hot deformation leads to a mass of recrystallization and the formation of subgrains with high dislocation density.This results in an increase in the types,quantities,and sizes of heterogeneous precipitates during quenching.In the slow quenching process,high angle grain boundaries are best for the nucleation and growth of theηphase.Secondly,a substantial quantity ofηand T phases precipitate on the non-coherent Al3Zr phase within the recrystallized grains.The locations with high dislocation density subgrains(boundaries)serve as nucleation positions for theηand T phases precipitating.Additionally,the Y phase is observed to precipitate at dislocation sites within the subgrains.展开更多
In this study,the cooling rate was manipulated by quenching with water of different temperatures(30,60 and 100℃).Surface and internal residual stresses in the quenched 6061 aluminum alloy samples were measured using ...In this study,the cooling rate was manipulated by quenching with water of different temperatures(30,60 and 100℃).Surface and internal residual stresses in the quenched 6061 aluminum alloy samples were measured using hole-drilling and crack compliance methods,respectively.Then,the processability of the quenched samples was evaluated at cryogenic temperatures.The mechanical properties of the as-aged samples were assessed,and microstructure evolution was analyzed.The surface residual stresses of samples W30℃,W60℃and W100℃is−178.7,−161.7 and−117.2 MPa,respectively along x-direction,respectively;and−191.2,−172.1 and−126.2 MPa,respectively along y-direction.The sample quenched in boiling water displaying the lowest residual stress(~34%and~60%reduction in the surface and core).The generation and distribution of quenching residual stress could be attributed to the lattice distortion gradient.Desirable plasticity was also exhibited in the samples with relatively low quenching cooling rates at cryogenic temperatures.The strengthes of the as-aged samples are 291.2 to 270.1 MPa as the quenching water temperature increase from 30℃to 100℃.Fine and homogeneous β"phases were observed in the as-aged sample quenched with boiling water due to the clusters and Guinier-Preston zones(GP zones)premature precipitated during quenching process.展开更多
The impact of cooling rate after solution heat treatment on exfoliation corrosion resistance of a Li-containing 7xxx aluminum alloy was investigated by accelerated immersion and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy ...The impact of cooling rate after solution heat treatment on exfoliation corrosion resistance of a Li-containing 7xxx aluminum alloy was investigated by accelerated immersion and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy test,optical microscope,electron backscatter diffraction and scanning transmission electron microscope.With the decrease of cooling rate from 1700℃/s to 4℃/s,exfoliation corrosion resistance of the aged specimens decreases with rating changing from EA to EC and the maximum corrosion depth increasing from about 169.4μm to 632.1μm.Exfoliation corrosion tends to develop along grain boundaries in the specimens with cooling rates higher than about 31℃/s and along both grain boundaries and sub-grain boundaries in the specimens with lower cooling rates.The reason has been discussed based on the changes of the microstructure and microchemistry at grain boundaries and sub-grain boundaries due to slow cooling.展开更多

The experiment and simulation results show that the solidification structure of the ingot is homogeneously distributed, and its grain size is obviously refined at ultrasonic power of 240 W. The average grain sizes, which can be seen from the Leica microscope, are less than 100 μm. When the casting speed is 45-50 mm/min, the best grain refinement is obtained.展开更多

The effects of initial blank temperature, blank-holding force, die closing pressure and die corner radius were studied. It is found that springback decreases remarkably as the initial blank temperature rises up to 500 °C. The springback also reduces with the increase of die holding pressure and the decrease of die corner radius. Under different initial temperatures, the influence of blank-holding force is distinct. In addition, the bending and straightening of the side wall during the stamping process is found to interpret the negative springback phenomenon.展开更多
The microstructural evolution of 2026 aluminum alloy during homogenization treatment was investigated by optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(EDS),differential ...The microstructural evolution of 2026 aluminum alloy during homogenization treatment was investigated by optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(EDS),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results show that severe dendritic segregation exists in the as-cast 2026 alloy and the main secondary phases at grain boundary are S(Al2CuMg)andθ(Al2Cu)phases.Elements Cu,Mg and Mn distribute unevenly from grain boundary to the inside of as-cast alloy.With the increase of homogenization temperature or the prolongation of holding time,the residual phases gradually dissolve into the matrixα(Al)and all the elements become more homogenized.According to the results of microstructural evolution,differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction,the optimum homogenization parameter is at 490°C for 24 h,which is consistent with the result of homogenization kinetic analysis.展开更多

The quality of a weld joint is stalwartly influenced by process parameter used during welding. An approach to develop a mathematical model was studied for predicting and optimizing the process parameters of dissimilar aluminum alloy (AA6351 T6-AA5083 Hlll)joints by incorporating the FSW process parameters such as tool pin profile, tool rotational speed welding speed and axial force. The effects of the FSW process parameters on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of friction welded dissimilar joints were discussed. Optimization was carried out to maximize the UTS using response surface methodology (RSM) and the identified optimum FSW welding parameters were reported.展开更多
Cast Al alloys are widely employed for engine components,structural parts,gear box,chassis,etc.and subjected to mechanical cyclic load during operation.The accurate fatigue life prediction of these alloys is essential...Cast Al alloys are widely employed for engine components,structural parts,gear box,chassis,etc.and subjected to mechanical cyclic load during operation.The accurate fatigue life prediction of these alloys is essential for normal operation as fatigue cracks initiated during operation induce the lubrication oil leak and serious safety hazard.Microstructural heterogeneity,including shrinkage/gaspores and secondary phase particles,is the most detrimental factor that affects fatigue life of cast Al alloys.The approximate fatigue life cycles could be estimated based on the size distribution and locations of shrinkage pores/defects.The relationship between crack population and stress was reported by statistical distributions and the cumulative probability for cast Al alloys fail at a certain stress could be predicted by combination of Paris law and pore size distribution.Pore depth was found to dominate the stress field around the pore on the surface and the maximum stress increases sharply when the pore intercepted with the surface at its top.The microstructure of cast Al alloys usually is composed of primary Al dendrites,eutectic silicon,Fe-rich particles and other intermetallic particles are dependent upon alloy composition and heat treatment.The coalescence of microcracks initiated from the fractured secondary phases was clearly found and can accelerate the initiation and propagation of the fatigue cracks.A link between defect features and the fatigue strength needs to be established through a good understanding of the fatigue damage mechanisms associated with the microstructural features under specific loading conditions.This paper reviews the influences of shrinkage/gaspores and secondary phase particles,formed during casting process,on the fatigue life of Al-Si-Mg cast Al alloys.展开更多

The artificial neural networks with the err...An isothermal compressive experiment using Gleeble 1500 thermal simulator was studied to acquire flow stress at different deformation temperatures, strains and strain rates. The artificial neural networks with the error back propagation(BP) algorithm was used to establish constitutive model of 2519 aluminum alloy based on the experiment data. The model results show that the systematical error is small(δ=3.3%) when the value of objective function is 0.2, the number of nodes in the hidden layer is 5 and the learning rate is 0.1. Flow stresses of the material under various thermodynamic conditions are predicted by the neural network model, and the predicted results correspond with the experimental results. A knowledge-based constitutive relation model is developed.展开更多

A typical 5A06 aluminum alloy dome was numerically and experimentally investigated. The reasons for typical defects were analyzed under different radial pressures. Effects of radial pressure on the thickness distribution were discussed and optimal radial pressure was determined. It is shown by numerical simulations and experiment that a cup with a drawing ratio of 2.4 is formed by the new process of hydroforming with controllable radial pressure. It is significantly effective for the forming of low plastic materials and large height-to-diameter ratio workpieees. Two typical thinning points exit along the dome wall. With the radial pressure, thinning is decreased effectively at the two points, the dome forming is achieved and thickness distribution is more uniform.展开更多

The detailed microstructu...In this paper, 3 mm 6061 aluminum alloy sheets were welded by laser MIG hybrid welding. Based on the experiment, the best welding parameters were determined to ensure the penetration welding. The detailed microstructure,tensile and fatigue fracture morphology and surface fatigue damage of the welded joints were analyzed by optical microscope(OM), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS). The results show that there are two main kinds of precipitates, one is the long Si rich precipitates at the grain boundaries, the other is the intragranular Cu rich precipitates. The tensile test results show that the tensile strength of the joint is 224 MPa, which is only 70.2% of the base metal. Through the analysis of tensile fracture, there are great differences in the formation of tensile dimple. In the tensile-tensile fatigue test with a stress rate of 0.1, the conditional fatigue limits of base metal and welded joint are 101.9 MPa and 54.4 MPa, respectively. By comparing the fatigue fracture of the welded joints under different stress amplitudes, it was found that the main factor leading to the fracture of the joint is porosity. Through further analysis of the pore defects, it was found that there are transgranular and intergranular propagation ways of microcracks in the pores, and the mixed propagation way was also found.展开更多
The influence of quench transfer time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 7055 aluminum alloy with and without zirconium was investigated by tensile properties test,optical microscopy,scanning electron ...The influence of quench transfer time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 7055 aluminum alloy with and without zirconium was investigated by tensile properties test,optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.For the Zr-free alloy,the strength increases to the highest value at 20 s with transfer time,and then decreases slightly.The elongation decreases slowly with transfer time within 20 s,and more rapidly after 20 s.For the Zr-containing alloy,prolonging transfer time within 20 s results in slight decrease in the strength and elongation,and rapid drop of which is observed after 20 s.For the Zr-free alloy,prolonging transfer time can increase the percentage of intergranular fracture,which is mainly caused by wide grain boundary precipitate free zone.The failure mode of the Zr-containing alloy is modified from the predominant transgranular void growth and intergranular fracture to transgranular shear and intergranular fracture with increase in the transfer time,which is attributed to the wider grain boundary precipitate free zone and coarse equilibrium η phases in the matrix.展开更多

The microstructure and phases of the coatings were characterized by s...Microarc oxidation (MAO) coatings were prepared on 2024 aluminum alloy in a Na2SiO3-KOH electrolyte with KNinO4 addition varying from 0 to 4 g/L. The microstructure and phases of the coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD), respectively. The corrosion resistance of MAO coatings was evaluated by electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization in 5% (mass fraction) NaCl solution. The results show that when KMnO4 is added into base electrolyte, the growth speed of oxide coatings is increased obviously. The main phase of oxide coatings is Al2O3, and the contents of MnO2 and MnEA104 phases are increased at the top of oxide coatings with increasing the concentration of KMnO4. The solute elements participate in forming the oxide coatings. When a proper concentration of KMnO4 (2.5 g/L) is added into the base solution, the micropores of the MAO coatings are small and compact, and the corrosion resistance of oxide coatings is increased largely.展开更多

The results indicate that an ultrafine grained microstructure with the mean grain size of-0.7 Ixm is obtained in the weld nugget by using water cooling. However, The FSW joint exhibits softening compared with the ultrafine grained based material and the heat affected zone (HAZ) has the lowest hardness owing to the coarsening of the strengthening precipitates.展开更多

The results show that flow stress is related to the Zener Hollonom parameter Z and strain, as well as the static recrystallization fraction between passes during multipass hot deformation of 5182 aluminum alloy. Hence, a modified exponential flow stress equation was presented by considering the values of ln A and β as functions of strain, and by using the uniform softening method and incorporating the static recrystallization fraction between passes to consider the effects of residual strain during multipass hot rolling of 5182 aluminum alloy. The validity of the equation was examined by a typical non isothermal multipass deformation test.展开更多

Based on the measured surface stress,stress value of key points and stress distribution shape,the internal stress distribution can be reconstructed. Interfacia...Similar friction welded joints of AA-7005 aluminum rods were fabricated using different combinations of process parameters such as friction pressure(1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 MPa) and friction time(10, 15 and 20 s). Interfacial microstructure and formation of intermetallic compounds at the joint interface were evaluated via scanning electron microscopy(SEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectrum(EDS), and optical microscopy(OM). Microstructural observations reveal the formation of intermetallic phases during the welding process which cannot be extruded from the interface. Theses phases influence the tensile strength of the resultant joints. From the tensile characteristics viewpoint, the greatest tensile strength value of 365 MPa is obtained at 1.5 MPa and 15 s. Finally, the role of microstructural features on tensile strength of resultant joints is discussed.展开更多
The plastic deformation showing instability has been a subject receiving considerable attention for centuries due to its importance in many industrial processes.For Al alloys,the major instability is the Portevin-Le C...The plastic deformation showing instability has been a subject receiving considerable attention for centuries due to its importance in many industrial processes.For Al alloys,the major instability is the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)effect that appears within a certain region of strain,strain rate and temperature.It manifests itself on the stress−strain curve as serrations associating with the rapid accumulation of plastic deformation within inclined slip bands.The PLC effect has severe practical consequences,which damages the surface quality after the sheet metal forming process and threatens the tensile ductility.Therefore,it is crucial to investigate the fundamental mechanisms underlying the PLC effect and in particular to investigate how it can be tempered by tailoring the material microstructure.In this paper,we review the common interpretations of the PLC effect and summarize the experimental results of the effects of the precipitation and the grain refinement,two conventional strengthening methodologies in Al alloys,on the serrated plastic flow.The effectiveness of solute atom clusters in suppressing the PLC effect is emphasized.展开更多

文摘Aluminum alloy is used as the support of final optical assembly because of its excellent mechanical properties,which constitutes th e“skeleton”of high-power laser system.Stray light reflected by weak optical elements in high power laser system will fall on the inner wall frame of aluminum alloy,which will cause damage and produce impurity particles,polluting the entire optical system.However,the research on the damage mechanism and protection technology of aluminum alloy under the action of high-power laser system is still in the initial stage.This paper introduces the interaction mechanism between laser and materials,analyzes the laser damage mechanism of aluminum alloy from the perspective of plasma nano metal particle ablation,reviews the progress of laser-induced damage protection of aluminum alloy,and prospects the future research direction of laser absorption and damage protection technology of aluminum alloy under the action of high-energy laser.

文摘With the experiment and finite element simulation, the influences of power ultrasonic on the solidification structure of 7050 aluminum alloy ingot in semi-continuous casting were researched, and the effects of casting speed on solidification structure in ultrasonic field were also analyzed. The experiment and simulation results show that the solidification structure of the ingot is homogeneously distributed, and its grain size is obviously refined at ultrasonic power of 240 W. The average grain sizes, which can be seen from the Leica microscope, are less than 100 μm. When the casting speed is 45-50 mm/min, the best grain refinement is obtained.

文摘Springback behavior of 6016 aluminum alloy in hot stamping was investigated by a series of experiments under different conditions using V-shape dies and a finite element model which was validated reliable was used to further elucidate the springback mechanism. The effects of initial blank temperature, blank-holding force, die closing pressure and die corner radius were studied. It is found that springback decreases remarkably as the initial blank temperature rises up to 500 °C. The springback also reduces with the increase of die holding pressure and the decrease of die corner radius. Under different initial temperatures, the influence of blank-holding force is distinct. In addition, the bending and straightening of the side wall during the stamping process is found to interpret the negative springback phenomenon.

文摘The microstructural evolution of 2026 aluminum alloy during homogenization treatment was investigated by optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(EDS),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results show that severe dendritic segregation exists in the as-cast 2026 alloy and the main secondary phases at grain boundary are S(Al2CuMg)andθ(Al2Cu)phases.Elements Cu,Mg and Mn distribute unevenly from grain boundary to the inside of as-cast alloy.With the increase of homogenization temperature or the prolongation of holding time,the residual phases gradually dissolve into the matrixα(Al)and all the elements become more homogenized.According to the results of microstructural evolution,differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction,the optimum homogenization parameter is at 490°C for 24 h,which is consistent with the result of homogenization kinetic analysis.
文摘Aluminium alloys generally present low weldability by traditional fusion welding process. Development of the friction stir welding (FSW) has provided an alternative improved way of producing aluminium joints in a faster and reliable manner. The quality of a weld joint is stalwartly influenced by process parameter used during welding. An approach to develop a mathematical model was studied for predicting and optimizing the process parameters of dissimilar aluminum alloy (AA6351 T6-AA5083 Hlll)joints by incorporating the FSW process parameters such as tool pin profile, tool rotational speed welding speed and axial force. The effects of the FSW process parameters on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of friction welded dissimilar joints were discussed. Optimization was carried out to maximize the UTS using response surface methodology (RSM) and the identified optimum FSW welding parameters were reported.

文摘Cast Al alloys are widely employed for engine components,structural parts,gear box,chassis,etc.and subjected to mechanical cyclic load during operation.The accurate fatigue life prediction of these alloys is essential for normal operation as fatigue cracks initiated during operation induce the lubrication oil leak and serious safety hazard.Microstructural heterogeneity,including shrinkage/gaspores and secondary phase particles,is the most detrimental factor that affects fatigue life of cast Al alloys.The approximate fatigue life cycles could be estimated based on the size distribution and locations of shrinkage pores/defects.The relationship between crack population and stress was reported by statistical distributions and the cumulative probability for cast Al alloys fail at a certain stress could be predicted by combination of Paris law and pore size distribution.Pore depth was found to dominate the stress field around the pore on the surface and the maximum stress increases sharply when the pore intercepted with the surface at its top.The microstructure of cast Al alloys usually is composed of primary Al dendrites,eutectic silicon,Fe-rich particles and other intermetallic particles are dependent upon alloy composition and heat treatment.The coalescence of microcracks initiated from the fractured secondary phases was clearly found and can accelerate the initiation and propagation of the fatigue cracks.A link between defect features and the fatigue strength needs to be established through a good understanding of the fatigue damage mechanisms associated with the microstructural features under specific loading conditions.This paper reviews the influences of shrinkage/gaspores and secondary phase particles,formed during casting process,on the fatigue life of Al-Si-Mg cast Al alloys.
文摘An isothermal compressive experiment using Gleeble 1500 thermal simulator was studied to acquire flow stress at different deformation temperatures, strains and strain rates. The artificial neural networks with the error back propagation(BP) algorithm was used to establish constitutive model of 2519 aluminum alloy based on the experiment data. The model results show that the systematical error is small(δ=3.3%) when the value of objective function is 0.2, the number of nodes in the hidden layer is 5 and the learning rate is 0.1. Flow stresses of the material under various thermodynamic conditions are predicted by the neural network model, and the predicted results correspond with the experimental results. A knowledge-based constitutive relation model is developed.

文摘A new process of hydroforming with controllable radial pressure was proposed to overcome difficulties in the forming of low plastic materials and large height-to-diameter ratio workpieces. A typical 5A06 aluminum alloy dome was numerically and experimentally investigated. The reasons for typical defects were analyzed under different radial pressures. Effects of radial pressure on the thickness distribution were discussed and optimal radial pressure was determined. It is shown by numerical simulations and experiment that a cup with a drawing ratio of 2.4 is formed by the new process of hydroforming with controllable radial pressure. It is significantly effective for the forming of low plastic materials and large height-to-diameter ratio workpieees. Two typical thinning points exit along the dome wall. With the radial pressure, thinning is decreased effectively at the two points, the dome forming is achieved and thickness distribution is more uniform.

文摘In this paper, 3 mm 6061 aluminum alloy sheets were welded by laser MIG hybrid welding. Based on the experiment, the best welding parameters were determined to ensure the penetration welding. The detailed microstructure,tensile and fatigue fracture morphology and surface fatigue damage of the welded joints were analyzed by optical microscope(OM), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS). The results show that there are two main kinds of precipitates, one is the long Si rich precipitates at the grain boundaries, the other is the intragranular Cu rich precipitates. The tensile test results show that the tensile strength of the joint is 224 MPa, which is only 70.2% of the base metal. Through the analysis of tensile fracture, there are great differences in the formation of tensile dimple. In the tensile-tensile fatigue test with a stress rate of 0.1, the conditional fatigue limits of base metal and welded joint are 101.9 MPa and 54.4 MPa, respectively. By comparing the fatigue fracture of the welded joints under different stress amplitudes, it was found that the main factor leading to the fracture of the joint is porosity. Through further analysis of the pore defects, it was found that there are transgranular and intergranular propagation ways of microcracks in the pores, and the mixed propagation way was also found.

文摘The influence of quench transfer time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 7055 aluminum alloy with and without zirconium was investigated by tensile properties test,optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.For the Zr-free alloy,the strength increases to the highest value at 20 s with transfer time,and then decreases slightly.The elongation decreases slowly with transfer time within 20 s,and more rapidly after 20 s.For the Zr-containing alloy,prolonging transfer time within 20 s results in slight decrease in the strength and elongation,and rapid drop of which is observed after 20 s.For the Zr-free alloy,prolonging transfer time can increase the percentage of intergranular fracture,which is mainly caused by wide grain boundary precipitate free zone.The failure mode of the Zr-containing alloy is modified from the predominant transgranular void growth and intergranular fracture to transgranular shear and intergranular fracture with increase in the transfer time,which is attributed to the wider grain boundary precipitate free zone and coarse equilibrium η phases in the matrix.

文摘Microarc oxidation (MAO) coatings were prepared on 2024 aluminum alloy in a Na2SiO3-KOH electrolyte with KNinO4 addition varying from 0 to 4 g/L. The microstructure and phases of the coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD), respectively. The corrosion resistance of MAO coatings was evaluated by electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization in 5% (mass fraction) NaCl solution. The results show that when KMnO4 is added into base electrolyte, the growth speed of oxide coatings is increased obviously. The main phase of oxide coatings is Al2O3, and the contents of MnO2 and MnEA104 phases are increased at the top of oxide coatings with increasing the concentration of KMnO4. The solute elements participate in forming the oxide coatings. When a proper concentration of KMnO4 (2.5 g/L) is added into the base solution, the micropores of the MAO coatings are small and compact, and the corrosion resistance of oxide coatings is increased largely.

文摘2017 aluminum alloy plates with an ultrafine grained (UFG) structure were produced by equal channel angular processing (ECAP) and then were joined by underwater friction stir welding (underwater FSW). X-ray diffractometer (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and microhardness tester were adopted to investigate the microstructural and mechanical characteristics of the FSW joint. The results indicate that an ultrafine grained microstructure with the mean grain size of-0.7 Ixm is obtained in the weld nugget by using water cooling. However, The FSW joint exhibits softening compared with the ultrafine grained based material and the heat affected zone (HAZ) has the lowest hardness owing to the coarsening of the strengthening precipitates.
文摘A series of simple axisymmetric compression tests were carried out on the computer servo controlled Gleeble 1 500 machine when strain rates ranged between 0.05 25 s -1 and deformation temperature 300 500 ℃. The results show that flow stress is related to the Zener Hollonom parameter Z and strain, as well as the static recrystallization fraction between passes during multipass hot deformation of 5182 aluminum alloy. Hence, a modified exponential flow stress equation was presented by considering the values of ln A and β as functions of strain, and by using the uniform softening method and incorporating the static recrystallization fraction between passes to consider the effects of residual strain during multipass hot rolling of 5182 aluminum alloy. The validity of the equation was examined by a typical non isothermal multipass deformation test.

文摘Residual stress distributions in 7075 aluminum alloy thick plates with different thicknesses and different quenching speeds were measured. A shape function of stress distribution was proposed based on the internal stress distribution characteristics of aluminum alloy. Using nonlinear regression technology,the function between stress value of key points on internal stress curve and surface stress of the plate was obtained. Based on the measured surface stress,stress value of key points and stress distribution shape,the internal stress distribution can be reconstructed. The experiments show that the model is of good engineering practicality.
文摘Similar friction welded joints of AA-7005 aluminum rods were fabricated using different combinations of process parameters such as friction pressure(1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 MPa) and friction time(10, 15 and 20 s). Interfacial microstructure and formation of intermetallic compounds at the joint interface were evaluated via scanning electron microscopy(SEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectrum(EDS), and optical microscopy(OM). Microstructural observations reveal the formation of intermetallic phases during the welding process which cannot be extruded from the interface. Theses phases influence the tensile strength of the resultant joints. From the tensile characteristics viewpoint, the greatest tensile strength value of 365 MPa is obtained at 1.5 MPa and 15 s. Finally, the role of microstructural features on tensile strength of resultant joints is discussed.

文摘The plastic deformation showing instability has been a subject receiving considerable attention for centuries due to its importance in many industrial processes.For Al alloys,the major instability is the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)effect that appears within a certain region of strain,strain rate and temperature.It manifests itself on the stress−strain curve as serrations associating with the rapid accumulation of plastic deformation within inclined slip bands.The PLC effect has severe practical consequences,which damages the surface quality after the sheet metal forming process and threatens the tensile ductility.Therefore,it is crucial to investigate the fundamental mechanisms underlying the PLC effect and in particular to investigate how it can be tempered by tailoring the material microstructure.In this paper,we review the common interpretations of the PLC effect and summarize the experimental results of the effects of the precipitation and the grain refinement,two conventional strengthening methodologies in Al alloys,on the serrated plastic flow.The effectiveness of solute atom clusters in suppressing the PLC effect is emphasized.
