Seven functional traits of the absorptive roots of 240 individuals of 52 species, soil properties and air temperature were measured along an elevational gradient on Mt. Fanjingshan, Tongren City, Guizhou, and then the direct and indirect effects of these controls on species distribution were detected. Results: Absorptive roots adapted to air temperature with two strategies. The first strategy was positively associated with the specific root area(SRA) and specific root length(SRL) and was negatively associated with the root tissue density(RTD), representing the classic root economics spectrum(RES). The second strategy was represented by the trade-off between root diameter, mycorrhizal fungi colonization(MF) and SRL, representing the collaboration gradient with “do it yourself” resource uptake ranging from “outsourcing” to mycorrhizal resource uptake. Air temperature regulated species distribution in six ways: directly reducing species importance value;indirectly increasing the species importance value by reducing soil nitrogen content or increasing soil pH by reducing soil moisture inducing absorptive roots to change from “do it yourself” resource absorption to “outsourcing” resource absorption;indirectly decreasing the species importance value by decreasing soil moisture to change from“outsourcing”resource absorption to “do it yourself” resource absorption;indirectly increasing the species importance value with increasing soil pH by reducing soil moisture resulting in absorptive root traits turning into nutrient foraging traits;and indirectly decreasing the species importance value by promoting absorptive root traits to nutrient conservation traits. Conclusions: Absorptive root traits play a crucial role in the regulation of species distribution through multiapproaches of air temperature.展开更多

The structure of the oxidized coal samples was char- acterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FFIR) and curve fitting analysis. The results show that carboxyl and ether groups are the main oxygen containing moieties in oxidized coal. Ethers are most abundant during the first 3 days of oxidation, thereafter carboxyl groups predominate. The content of carboxyl and ester functionality increases with oxidation time. The other oxygen containing groups vary in concentration over time. The amount of hydroxyl groups first decreases then increases and finally decrease again during the oxidation. The aliphatic structure and the degree of branching of the aliphatic chains is reduced as the oxidation proceeds. The proportion of aromatic structure increases with oxida- tion time. Obvious decomposition of aromatic rings occurs after about 9 days of oxidation. The aryl ester bands and the CH3/CH2 ratio both have a good linear relationship to oxidation time.展开更多

The characteristic of slab track tem- perature varies greatly with different regional climates. In this work, a bi-block slab track model was built under outdoor conditions in Chengdu area; the statistical characteristic of temperature gradient in track slab and the relationship between temperature gradient and surface air temperature were tested and analyzed. The results show that the track slab temperature gradient will vary periodically according to the surface air temperature, and show a clear nonlinearity along the height direction. The temperature gradient distribution is extremely uneven: the temperature gradient in the top part of the track slab is larger than that in the bottom part; the most frequently occurring temperature gradient of the track slab is around -3.5 ℃/m and more than 75 % locates in the level -10 to 10 ℃/m; concrete with a relatively good heat exchange condition with the surrounding air has a narrower band distribution. In addition, the frequency distribution histogram should exclude the time zone from 00:00 to 06:00 because there is almost no traffic in this period. The amplitude of track slab temperature variation is obviously lower than that of the air temperature variation, and the former is approximately linear with the latter.展开更多

The discharge conditions were RF power of 360 W, temperature of 40℃ in a sealed chamber, and pressure of 10 Pa to 30 Pa. The result showed that the kinetics of the survival rate followed a typical saddle-shaped curve. Based on a statistic analysis, at the treating duration of 10 min, the positive mutation rate was as high as 37.5% while the negative mutation rate was low. The colonial morphology changed obviously when the plasma treating duration reached or exceeded 45 min. After both primary and secondary screening, a mutant designated as aPc051310 with high productivity of penicillin was obtained, and a strong mutagenic effect on P. chrysogenurn was observed in the process. It was proved that after five generations, the mutant aPc051310 still exhibits a high productivity. All the results prove that the plasma mutation method could be developed as a convenient and effective tool to breed high-yield strains in the fermentation industry, while expanding the plasm application at the same time.展开更多

The Xing’an permafrost in Northeast China is on the southern margin of the Eastern Asia latitudinal permafrost body. Under a warming climate, permafrost undergoes rapid and extensive degradation. In this study, the frost-number (Fn) model based on air temperatures and ground surface temperatures was used to predict the distribution of the Xing’an permafrost, and, temporal and spatial changes in air and ground-surface temperatures from 1961 to 2019 are analyzed. The results show that Northeast China has experienced a rapid and substantial climate warming over the past 60 years. The rises in mean annual air and mean annual ground-surface temperatures were higher in permafrost zones than those in the seasonal frost zone. The frost numbers of air and ground-surface temperatures were calculated for determining the southern limit of latitudinal permafrost and for permafrost zonation. The southern limits of discontinuous permafrost, sporadic permafrost, and latitudinal permafrost moved northward significantly. According to the air-temperature frost-number criteria for permafrost zoning, compared with that in the 1960s, the extent of Xing’an permafrost in Northeast China had decreased by 40.6% by the 2010s. With an average rate of increase in mean annual air temperatures at 0.03 ℃ a^(−1), the extent of permafrost in Northeast China will decrease to 26.42 × 10^(4) by 2020, 14.69 × 10^(4) by 2040 and to 11.24 × 10^(4) km^(2) by 2050. According to the ground-surface temperature frost-number criteria, the southern limit of latitudinal permafrost was at the 0.463. From the 1960s to the 2010s, the extent of latitudinal permafrost declined significantly. Due to the nature of the ecosystem-protected Xing’an-Baikal permafrost, management and protection (e.g., more prudent and effective forest fire management and proper logging of forests) of the Xing’an permafrost eco-environment should be strengthened.展开更多
