In the present investigation, the coefficient of friction and the wear resistance of AISI 316 L parts were studied under self-mating, dry sliding conditions using a pin-on-disc type configuration. The experiments were conducted at vacuum based high temperature pin-on-disc tribometer. The 4 mm diameter pin and 180 mm diameter disc were subjected to varying sliding velocities(0.5, 0.75 and 1.5 m/s) and were operated in 200, 400, 500 and 580 ℃ temperature at 600 Torr vacuum. The variation of specific wear rates with sliding velocities and different environmental conditions was studied. The morphology of sliding/rubbed surfaces was observed using Scanning Electron Microscope. In summary, it was found that a severe to mild wear transition occurred in sliding under operating conditions. Increased wear rates have been observed for 500 and 580 ℃ with increasing sliding velocity. Adhesive wear has been found to be predominant at 500 and 580 ℃ where as de-lamination has been observed at ambient temperature,200 and 400 ℃ in vacuum. The present paper also carried out the numerical analysis of the vibration behavior of AISI 316 L under thermal environment. Results revealed that at high temperature vibrational amplitude and natural frequency is significantly reduced. This can be attributed to the reduction in stiffness of the material at elevated temperatures. This high amplitude vibration during service can lead to high wear rate.展开更多

However, the influences of splitter plates on the VIV and aerostatic performances are more complicated due to aerodynamic interference between highway and railway decks. To study the effects of splitter plates, wind tunnel experiments for measuring VIV and aerostatic forces of twin decks under two opposite flow directions were conducted, while the surrounding flow and wind pressure of static twin decks with and without splitter plates are numerically simulated. The results showed that the incoming flow direction affects the VIV response and aerostatic coefficients. The highway deck has poor vertical and torsional VIV, and the VIV region and amplitude are different under different directions. While the railway deck only has vertical VIV when located upstream. The splitter plates can impede the process of vortex generation, shedding and impinging at the gap between twin deck, and significantly reducing the surface fluctuating pressure coefficient, thus effectively suppressing the VIV of twin decks. While, the splitter plates hurt the upstream deck regarding static wind stability and have little effect on the downstream deck. The splitter plates of appropriate width are recommended to improve VIV performances in twin parallel bridges.展开更多

This high amplitude vibration during service can lead to high wear rate.

文摘Achieving vibration isolation, lightweight design, and reusability under impact remains a critical challenge for thin-walled structures. When the goat skull is subjected to impact, both the outer wall of the sinus and the internal bony struts deform simultaneously to absorb energy and protect intracranial tissues.Inspired by this mechanism,we designed the goat sinus-inspired bio mimetic(GSIB) structure by mimicking the outer wall of the sinus and the internal pillar-like support system. The structure consists of dual coupling beams, including a set of inclined cantilever beams representing the sinus outer wall and vertical support beams simulating the internal bony struts. The GSIB structure was fabricated using Selective Laser Sintering(SLS) 3D printing technology, and its mechanical properties were investigated through a combination of quasi-static compression tests, vibration tests, impact tests, and finite element simulations.Under compressive loading, the inclined cantilever beams buckle to introduce a negative stiffness effect, while the vertical supports enhance overall stiffness.Leveraging the coupling effect between these two components, the structure achieves a long-stroke constant-force response, thereby delivering superior performance in energy absorption and vibration isolation.Additionally, the special deformation mode of the GSIB structure enables it to be reused under impact conditions. It is noteworthy that, compared to the negative stiffness(NS) structure with the same dimensions for repeated buffering proposed in previous studies, the GSIB structure demonstrates an energy absorption capacity reaching 214.3% of that of the NS structure,a reduction in isolation frequency to 58.5%,and an impact acceleration that is only 66.31% of that of the NS structure.Additionally, the plateau stress of the proposed structure increases to 246.07% of that of the NS structure. This novel artificial structure provides a new design strategy for achieving superior energy absorption and impact resistance under repeated impact conditions.

文摘Blast-induced ground vibration, quantified by peak particle velocity(PPV),is a crucial factor in mitigating environmental and structural risks in mining and geotechnical engineering.Accurate PPV prediction facilitates safer and more sustainable blasting operations by minimizing adverse impacts and ensuring regulatory compliance. This study presents an advanced predictive framework integrating Cat Boost(CB)with nature-inspired optimization algorithms, including the Bat Algorithm(BAT),Sparrow Search Algorithm(SSA),Butterfly Optimization Algorithm(BOA),and Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm(GOA).A comprehensive dataset from the Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine in Iran was utilized to develop and evaluate these models using key performance metrics such as the Index of Agreement(IoA),Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency(NSE),and the coefficient of determination(R^(2)).The hybrid CB-BOA model outperformed other approaches, achieving the highest accuracy(R^(2)=0.989)and the lowest prediction errors.SHAP analysis identified Distance(Di)as the most influential variable affecting PPV,while uncertainty analysis confirmed CB-BOA as the most reliable model, featuring the narrowest prediction interval. These findings highlight the effectiveness of hybrid machine learning models in refining PPV predictions, contributing to improved blast design strategies, enhanced structural safety, and reduced environmental impacts in mining and geotechnical engineering.

文摘This study presents a significant advancement in the vibration analysis of functionally graded sandwich plates with auxetic cores by introducing a general viscoelastic foundation model that more accurately reflects the complex interactions between the plate and the foundation. The novelty of this study is that the proposed viscoelastic foundation model incorporates elastic and damping effects in both the Winkler and Pasternak layers. To develop the theoretical framework for this analysis, the higher-order shear deformation theory is employed, while Hamilton's principle is used to derive the governing equations of motion. The closed-form solution is used to determine the damped vibration behaviors of the sandwich plates. The precision and robustness of the proposed mathematical model are validated through several comparison studies with existing numerical results.A detailed parametric study is conducted to investigate the influence of various parameters, including the elastic and damping coefficients of the foundation, the material gradation, and the properties of the auxetic core on the vibration behavior of the plates. The numerical results provide new insights into the vibration characteristics of sandwich plates with auxetic cores resting on viscoelastic foundation, highlighting the significant role of the two damping coefficients and auxetic cores in the visco-vibration behavior of the plates.

文摘In this work, the effect of ultrasonic vibration modes on the mechanical properties and relaxation of residual stress in 6061-T6 aluminum alloy was studied.A new ultrasonic vibration Johnson-Cook model was proposed, and the relaxation and distribution of residual stress under ultrasonic vibration were predicted and analyzed using the finite element method(FEM).The mechanical properties of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy under different ultrasonic vibration modes were analyzed through experiments involving notched specimen tensile testing and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)analysis. The findings indicate that ultrasonic vibration treatment during deformation, unloading, and load-holding,as well as treatment with its natural ultrasonic frequency, can effectively release residual stress;however, treatment with its natural frequency has the highest rate of release up to 65.4%.Ultrasonic vibration treatment during deformation better inhibits fracture under the same conditions. The FEM results are in good agreement with the experimental results, and it can be used as a valid tool for predicting residual stress release under ultrasonic vibration.

文摘In this work, ultrasonic energy field assistance combined with tempering treatment is proposed to improve the microstructure and mechanical properties of A517Q alloy steel fabricated by laser directed energy deposition(LDED).The effects of ultrasonic vibration(UV)and tempering treatment on microstructure evolution, microhardness distribution and mechanical properties of deposition layer were studied in detail. The microstructure of UV assisted LDED sample after tempering is mainly composed of tempered sorbite(TS).Due to the improvement of microstructure inhomogeneity and grains refinement,UV assisted LDED sample with tempering treatment obtains excellent mechanical properties. The ultimate tensile strength(UTS),yield strength(YS)and elongation after breaking(EL)reach 765 MPa,657 MPa and 19.5%,the increase ratios of UTS and YS are 14.5%and 33.8%while maintaining plasticity compared to original LDED sample, respectively. It is obvious that ultrasonic vibration combined with tempering is a potential and effective method to obtain uniform microstructure and excellent mechanical properties in metal laser directed energy deposition field.
文摘Recent advancements in additive manufacturing(AM)have revolutionized the design and production of complex engineering microstructures.Despite these advancements, their mathematical modeling and computational analysis remain significant challenges. This research aims to develop an effective computational method for analyzing the free vibration of functionally graded(FG)microplates under high temperatures while resting on a Pasternak foundation(PF).This formulation leverages a new thirdorder shear deformation theory(new TSDT)for improved accuracy without requiring shear correction factors.Additionally, the modified couple stress theory(MCST)is incorporated to account for sizedependent effects in microplates. The PF is characterized by two parameters including spring stiffness(k_(w))and shear layer stiffness(k_(s)).To validate the proposed method, the results obtained are compared with those of the existing literature.Furthermore, numerical examples explore the influence of various factors on the high-temperature free vibration of FG microplates. These factors include the length scale parameter(l),geometric dimensions, material properties, and the presence of the elastic foundation. The findings significantly enhance our comprehension of the free vibration of FG microplates in high thermal environments. In addition, the findings significantly enhance our comprehension of the free vibration of FG microplates in high thermal environments. In addition, the results of this research will have great potential in military and defense applications such as components of submarines, fighter aircraft, and missiles.
文摘In this paper, the isogeometric analysis(IGA)method is employed to analyze the oscillation characteristics of functionally graded triply periodic minimal surface(FG-TPMS)curved-doubly shells integrated with magneto-electric surface layers(referred to as"FG-TPMS-MEE curved-doubly shells")subjected to low-velocity impact loads. This study presents low-velocity impact load model based on a single springmass(S-M)approach.The FG-TPMS-MEE curved-doubly shells are covered with two magneto-electric surface layers, while the core layer consists of three types:I-graph and Wrapped Package-graph(IWP),Gyroid(G),and Primitive(P),with various graded functions. These types are notable for their exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratios, enabling a wide range of potential applications. The Maxwell equations and electromagnetic boundary conditions are applied to compute the change in electric potentials and magnetic potentials. The equilibrium equations of the shell are derived from a refined higher-order shear deformation theory(HSDT),and the transient responses of the FG-TPMS-MEE curveddoubly shells are subsequently determined using Newmark's direct integration method. These results have applications in structural vibration control and the analysis of structures subjected to impact or explosive loads.Furthermore, this study provides a theoretical prediction of the low-velocity impact load and magneto-electric-elastic effects on the free vibration and transient response of FG-TPMS-MEE curved-doubly shells.

文摘Installing the splitter plates is a passive aerodynamic solution for eliminating vortex-induced vibration (VIV). The splitter plates of appropriate width are recommended to improve VIV performances in twin parallel bridges.
