A power control mechanism can reduce the power consumption of the whole network. Because the character of wireless sensor networks is restrictive energy, this paper proposes a distributed power control algorithm based on game theory for wireless sensor networks which objects of which are reducing power consumption and decreasing overhead and increasing network lifetime. The game theory and OPNET simulation shows that the power control algorithm converges to a Nash Equilibrium when decisions are updated according to a better response dynamic.展开更多

In order to control the motion of loads, nonlinear state...A novel sorting system based on one degree of freedom (DOF) tendon based parallel manipulator (TBPM) for high value waste processing was presented and designed. In order to control the motion of loads, nonlinear state feed forward control algorithm in the tendon length coordinate was used. Considering the system redundancy and actuation behavior, algorithms of optimal tension distribution and forward kinematics were designed. Then, the simulation experiments of motion control were implemented. The results demonstrate that the proposed TBPM translation system performs robust capacities. It can transfer the loads 1 m away within 1.5 s. With further optimization, the translation duration can be further reduced to be about 1 s and the optimized translation is followed with 43.59 m/s2 maximum acceleration. The translation errors at the aim position remain below 0.4 mm.展开更多

Owing to lack of standard performance metric indices to evaluate covariance control capability, sensor allocation ratio, etc, there are no guides to follow in the design procedure of sensor allocation algorithm in practical applications. To meet these demands, three quantified performance metric indices are presented, which are average covariance misadjustment quantity (ACMQ), average sensor allocation ratio (ASAR) and matrix metric influence factor (MMIF), where ACMQ, ASAR and MMIF quantify the covariance control capabili- ty, the usage of sensor resources and the robustness of sensor allocation algorithm, respectively. Meanwhile, a covariance adaptive sensor allocation algorithm based on a new objective function is proposed to improve the covariance control capability of the algorithm based on information gain. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm have the advantage over the preceding sensor allocation algorithm in covariance control capability and robustness.展开更多

A covariance control approach, which selects sensor combinations or subset based on the difference between the desired covariance matrix and the actual covariance of each target, is used for sensor management, including some matrix metrics to measure the differentia between two covariance matrices. Besides, to meet the requirements of the space based warning system, the original covariance control approach is improved. Simulation results demonstrate that the covariance control approach is able to provide a better tracking performance by providing a well-designed desired covariance and balance tracking performance goals with system demands.展开更多

Many energy efficiency asynchronous duty-cycle MAC(media access control) protocols have been proposed in recent years.However,in these protocols,wireless sensor nodes almost choose their wakeup time randomly during th...Many energy efficiency asynchronous duty-cycle MAC(media access control) protocols have been proposed in recent years.However,in these protocols,wireless sensor nodes almost choose their wakeup time randomly during the operational cycle,which results in the packet delivery latency increased significantly on the multiple hops path.To reduce the packet delivery latency on multi-hop path and energy waste of the sender's idle listening,a new low latency routing-enhanced asynchronous duty-cycle MAC protocol was presented,called REA-MAC.In REA-MAC,each sensor node decided when it waked up to send the beacon based on cross-layer routing information.Furthermore,the sender adaptively waked up based on the relationship between the transmission request time and the wakeup time of its next hop node.The simulation results show that REA-MAC reduces delivery latency by 60% compared to RI-MAC and reduces 8.77% power consumption on average.Under heavy traffic,REA-MAC's throughput is 1.48 times of RI-MAC's.展开更多

An LMI approach of designing reliable controller is presented for the case of actuator faults that can be modeled by a scaling factor. The resulting control systems are reliable in that they provide guaranteed asymptotic stability and H∞ performance when some control component (actuator) faults occur. A numerical example is also given to illustrate the design procedure and their effectiveness. Furthermore, the optimal standard controller and the optimal reliable controller are compared to show the necessity of reliable control.展开更多

Serious consequences due to magnetic biasing and several methods to overcome magnetic biasing are first discussed. The causes of the transformer magnetic biasing are then analyzed in detail. The proposed method is based on a high-pass filter inserted in the forward path and the feedforward control. Without testing magnetic biasing of transformer, this method can eliminate magnetic biasing of transformer completely in real-time waveform feedback control systems though the zero error of the Hall effect sensors varies with time and temperature. The method has already been employed in a 90KVA AC power supply. It is shown that it offers improved performance over existing ones. In this method, no sensors are used such that the zero error of the Hall effect sensors has not any influence on the system. It is simple to design and implement. Furthermore, the method is suitable for various power applications.展开更多

Dynamical equation was established for the system with intelligent structure of piezoelectric...A new method was put forward to optimize the position of actuator/sensor of multi-body system with quick startup and brake. Dynamical equation was established for the system with intelligent structure of piezoelectric actuators. According to the property of the modes varying with time, the performance index function was developed based on the optimal configuration principle of energy maximal dissipation, and the relevant optimal model was obtained. According to its characteristic, a float-encoding genetic algorithm, which is efficient, simple and excellent for solving the global-optimal solution of this problem, was adopted. Taking the plane manipulator as an example, the result of numerical calculation shows that, after the actuator/sensor position being optimized, the vibration amplitude of the multi-body system is reduced by 35% compared with that without optimization.展开更多
This research is dedicated to develop a safety measurement for human-machine cooperative system, in which the machine region and the human region cannot be separated due to the overlap and the movement both from human...This research is dedicated to develop a safety measurement for human-machine cooperative system, in which the machine region and the human region cannot be separated due to the overlap and the movement both from human and from machines. Our proposal here is to automatically monitor the moving objects by image sensing/recognition method, such that the machine system can get enough information about the environment situation and about the production progress at any time, and therefore the machines can accordingly take some corresponding actions automatically to avoid hazard. For this purpose, two types of monitor systems are proposed. The first type is based on the omni directional vision sensor, and the second is based on the stereo vision sensor. Each type may be used alone or together with another type, depending on the safety system's requirements and the specific situation of the manufacture field to be monitored. In this paper, the description about these two types are given, and as for the special application of these image sensors into safety control, the construction of a hierarchy safety system is proposed.展开更多
