The concept of stabilizability radius of P(s, δ) is introduced which is the norm bound δs for δ such that every member plant of P(s, δ) is stabilizable if and only if ||δ||〈δs. The stabilizability radius can be simply interpreted as the 'largest sphere' around the nominal plant P(s,θ) such that P(s, δ) is stabilizable. The numerical method and the analytical method are presented to solve the stabilizability radius calculation problem of the sphere plants.展开更多

By deducing scattering solution of the lossy metallic sphere, the radar cross section(RCS)of different metallic spheres is given at terahertz frequencies. The investigation of the RCS of polished metallic spheres shows the normalized RCS is always same to the metals’ normal incidence reflectivity when the sphere becomes electrically large. The metals which have high reflectivity(such as Al, Cu, Ag and Au) show that the corresponding RCS of the spheres is almost πa2 in terahertz band. The sphere’s RCS of the transition metal such as Fe begins to decrease obviously since the far infrared.展开更多

The proposed algorithm utilizes the threshold-pruning method to cut nodes with partial Euclidean distances (PEDs) larger than the threshold. Both the known noise value and the unknown noise value are considered to generate the threshold, which is the sum of the two values. The known noise value is the smal est PED of signals in the detected layers. The unknown noise value is generated by the noise power, the quality of service (QoS) and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) bound. Simulation results show that by considering both two noise values, the proposed algorithm makes an efficient reduction while the performance drops little.展开更多

In this work, the structure and working principle of EGS were introduced, based on which the advantages of EGS were displayed. The profile of sphere cam was achieved after the desired motion of piston was given. After establishing the dynamic model of power transmission mechanism, the characteristics of cam-roller mechanism were studied. The results show that the optimal cam profile of SCE is a sinusoid curve which has two peaks and two valleys and a mean pressure angle of 47.19°. Because of the special cam shape, the trace of end surface center of piston is an eight-shape curve on a specific sphere surface. SCE running at speed of 3000 r/min can generate the power of 33.81 kW, which could satisfy the need of HEVs. However, the force between cylinder and piston skirt caused by Coriolis acceleration can reach up to 1182 N, which leads to serious wear between cylinder liner and piston skirt and may shorten the lifespan of SCE.展开更多

A threshold impact angle(critical angle) exists beyond which ricochet cannot occur. The Autodyn simulation code with the smooth particle hydrodynamic(SPH) method and Impetus Afea Solver with the corpuscular model are used and the results are compared with experimental and analytical results. The resistance force in sand for spheres was proportional to a term quadratic in velocity plus a term linear in velocity. The drag coefficient for the quadratic term was 0.65. The Autodyn and Impetus Afea codes simulate too large penetration due to the lack of a linear velocity resistance force. Critical ricochet angles were consistent with analytical results in the literature. In ballistic gelatin at velocities of 50–850 m/s a drag coefficient of 0.30 fits the high speed camera recordings if a linear velocity resistance term is included. However, only a quadratic velocity resistance force with drag coefficient that varies with the Reynolds number also fits the measurements. The simulation of a sphere in water with Autodyn showed too large drag coefficient. The 7.62 mm APM2 core simulations in sand fit reasonable well for both codes. The 25 mm projectile ricochet simulations in sand show consistency with the high speed camera recordings. Computer time was reduced by one to two orders of magnitudes when applying the Impetus Afea Solver compared to Autodyn code due to the use of the graphics processing units(GPU).展开更多

The overall density profile follows any given distribution function. By using the geometrical optics approximation and considering the propagation coefficient is complex, as well as the attenuation and phase coefficients are vectors, the detailed evaluation shows that the transmission and absorption of microwaves in the inhomogeneous spherically symmetric plasma depend on the electron and neutral particle collision frequency, central density, incident angle of the microwaves and density distribution profiles.展开更多

The formula for distance between blocks is derived under the supposition that all block boundaries are prime arcs. The kinematic constraint and the penalty function for reasonable contact between blocks are developed. The normal equations and their coefficient matrix, based on the Least Squares Principle, are derived. The problem of adjudging penetration between blocks is discussed, and a solution is proposed.展开更多
