The defining feature of an NCS is that information is exchanged using a network among control system components. Two new concepts including long time delay and short time delay are proposed. The sensor is almost always clock driven. The controller or the actuator is either clock driven or event driven. Four possible driving modes of networked control systems are presented. The open loop mathematic models of networked control systems with long time delay are developed when the system is driven by anyone of the four different modes. The uniformed modeling method of networked control systems with long time delay is proposed. The simulation results are given in the end.展开更多

The NCSs with uncertain time-varying delays are modeled as parameter-uncertain systems by the matrix theory. Based on the model, an observer-based residual generator is constructed and the sufficient condition for the existence of the desired fault detection filter is derived in terms of the linear matrix inequality. Furthermore, a time domain opti- mization approach is proposed to improve the performance of the fault detection system. To prevent the false alarms, a new thresh- old function is established, and the solution of the optimization problem is given by using the singular value decomposition (SVD) of the matrix. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.展开更多

Systems without model uncertainty are initially considered, followed by a discussion of a general situation where the system is subjected to either model uncertainty or external disturbance. An adaptive diagnostic algorithm is developed to diagnose the fault, and a modified version is proposed for general system to improve robustness. The selection of the threshold for fault detection is also discussed. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.展开更多

This paper deals with the problem of H∞ filter design for linear discrete-time systems with missing measurements. The missing measurements will happen at any sample time, and the probability of the occurrence of missing data is assumed to be known. The main purpose is to obtain both full-and reduced-order filters such that the filter error systems are exponentially mean-square stable and guarantee a prescribed H∞ performance in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI). A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the validity of the proposed design approach.展开更多

The problem that is addressed in this study is to design a decentralized robust guaranteed cost state feedback controller such that the closed-loop system is not only regular, impulse-free and stable, but also guarantees an adequate level of performance for all admissible uncertainties. A sufficient condition for the existence of the decentralized robust guaranteed cost state feedback controllers is proposed in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) via LMI approach. When this condition is feasible, the desired state feedback decentralized robust guaranteed cost controller gain matrices can be obtained. The T-S fuzzy model with parametric uncertainties can approximate nonlinear uncertain systems at any precision. A sufficient condition on the existence of robust passive controller is established based on the Lyapunov stability theory. With the help of linear matrix inequality (LMI) method, robust passive controllers are designed so that the closed-loop system is robust stable and strictly passive. Furthermore, a convex optimization problem with LMI constraints is formulated to design robust passive controllers with the maximum dissipation rate. A numerical example illustrates the validity of the proposed method.展开更多

In this paper, we propose a method based on mixed sensitivity H∞ for the control of linear time invariant(LTI) systems with varying time delays. The time delay is assumed bounded and the upper bound is known. In the technique we propose, the delay affecting the plant to be controlled is treated as an unmodeled uncertainty(in form of multiplicative uncertainty). That uncertainty is approximated and then an H∞based controller, for the plant represented by the multiplicative uncertainty and the nominal model, is calculated. The obtained H∞controller is used to control the LTI systems with varying time delays. Simulation examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多
