The pygmy and giant dipole resonances in proton-rich nuclei 17,1817,18Ne are investigated with a fully self-consistent approach. The properties of ground states are calculated in the Skyrme Hartree–Fock with the Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer approximation to take into account the pairing correlation. The quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) method is used to explore the properties of excited dipole states. In the calculations the SLy5 Skyrme interaction is employed. In addition to the giant dipole resonances, pygmy dipole resonances (PDR) are found to be located in the energy region below 10 MeV in both ^17,18Ne. The strength and transition density show that the low-lying states are typical PDR states. However, analyzing the QRPA amplitudes of proton and neutron 2 quasiparticle (2qp) configurations for a given low-lying state in ^17,18Ne, we find that the PDR state is less collective, more like a single 2qp excitation. 展开更多

The neutron-to-proton and3 H-to-3 He yield ratios, and the directed flows of particles dependent on a reduced rapidity, the transverse momentum per nucleon,and a reduced impact parameter are investigated for ^(28)S+^(28)Si and ^(32)S+^(28)Si systems at 50 and 400 MeV/u using an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model.The results show that these yield ratios of projectile-like fragments are approximately equal to the constituent neutron-to-proton ratio of the projectile. There are clear differences of the directed flows for isospin-related fragments neutron and proton,~3H and ~3He from ^(28)S+^(28)Si collisions.The differences in directed flows for neutrons and protons and ~3H–~3He from a proton-rich nucleus ^(28)S- induced collisions are noticeably larger than those from a stable nucleus ^(32)S- induced reactions under medium impact parameters. Thus, the yield ratios and differences in directed flows for the neutrons and protons and ~3H–~3He under medium impact parameters are proposed as possible observable items for studying isospin physics. 展开更多

We investigate the cross sections of the elastic electron or positron scat tering from 208 Pb, ^12C ^12,16O and ^28,32S by the relativistic partial-wave expansion method using the static charge density distribution from the self-consistent relativistic mean fiel model and also calculate the charge form factor for ^12'16O and ^28,32S. The numerical results are compared with the available data. Calculations indicate that the extended charge density distributions of ^12O and ^28S have observable effects on the cross sections of the electron or positron scattering as well as the charge form factors. 展开更多

Properties of the drip-line nucleus and mass relation of mirror nuclei

The isospin asymmetry and quadrupole deformation value of drip-line nuclei are investigated using the Weizsäcker-Skyrme nuclear mass formula.We observe that for heavy nuclei at the neutron drip line,the Coulomb energy heightened by an aug-mented charge could not be mitigated completely by symmetry energy because of isospin asymmetry saturation but is resisted complementally by strong nuclear deformation.The positions of saltation for the difference in proton numbers between two neighboring nuclei at the neutron drip line,and the isospin asymmetry of the neutron drip-line nucleus as a function of the neutron number distinctly correspond to the known magic numbers,which can serve as a reference to verify the undeter-mined neutron magic number.Through fitting of the binding energy difference between mirror nuclei(BEDbMN),a set of Coulomb energy coefficients with greater accuracy is obtained.A high-precision description of the BEDbMN is useful for accurately determining the experimentally unknown mass of the nucleus close to the proton drip line if the mass of its mirror nucleus is measured experimentally. 展开更多

The breaking of spin symmetry in the single-particle resonances in deformed nuclei

The exploration of spin symmetry (SS) in nuclear physics has been instrumental in identifying atomic nucleus structures.In this study,we solve the Dirac equation from the relativistic mean field (RMF) in complex momentum representation.We investigated SS and its breaking in single-particle resonant states within deformed nuclei,with a focus on the illustrative nucleus168Er.This was the initial discovery of a resonant spin doublet in a deformed nucleus,with the expectation of the SS approaching the continuum threshold.With increasing single-particle energy,the splitting of the resonant spin doublets widened significantly.This escalating splitting implies diminishing adherence to the SS,indicating a departure from the expected behavior as the energy levels increase.We also analyzed the width of the resonant states,showing that lower orbital angular momentum resonances possess shorter decay times and that SS is preserved within broad resonant doublets,as opposed to narrow resonant doublets.Comparing the radial density of the upper components for the bound-state and resonant-state doublets,it becomes evident that while SS is well-preserved in the bound states,it deteriorates in the resonant states.The impact of nuclear deformation (β_(2)) on SS was examined,demonstrating that an increase in β_(2) resulted in higher energy and width splitting in the resonant spin doublets,which is attributed to increased component mixing.Furthermore,the sensitivity of spin doublets to various potential parameters such as surface diffuseness (a),radius (R),and depth (Σ0) is discussed,emphasizing the role of these parameters in SS.This study provides valuable insights into the behavior of spin doublets in deformed nuclei and their interplay with the nuclear structure,thereby advancing our understanding of SS in the resonance state. 展开更多

Systematic study on heavy-particle radioactivity of superheavy nuclei ^(297–300)119

In the current study,we examined every possible cluster-daughter combination in the heavy-particle decay of isotopes ^(297-300)119 and computed the decay half-lives using the modified generalized liquid drop model(MGLDM)with the preformation factor depending on the disintegration energy.The predicted half-life of every heavy cluster(Z_(C)≥32)was within the experimentally observable limits.These results aligned with the predictions of Poenaru et al.[Phys.Rev.Lett.107,062503(2011)]that superheavy nuclei(SHN)with Z>110 will release heavy particles with a penetrability comparable to or greater than theα-decay.The half-lives predicted using the MGLDM for clusters^(89)Rb,^(91)Rb,and^(92)Rb from parents^(297)119,^(299)119,and^(300)119,respectively,agreed with the predictions of Poenaru et al.[Eur.Phys.J.A 54,14(2018)].It was found that the isotopes of heavy clusters Kr,Rb,Sr,Pa,In,and Cd had half-lives comparable to theαhalf-life;and isotopes of clusters I,Xe,and Cs had the minimum half-life(10^(-14)s).These observations revealed the role of the shell closure(Z=82,N=82,and N=126)of the cluster and daughter nuclei in heavy-cluster radioactivity.We predicted that isotope ^(297,299)119 decayed by 4αdecay chains and isotope^(300)119 decayed by 6αdecay chains,while^(298)119 decayed by continuousαdecay chains.The predicted half-lives and modes of decay of the nuclei in the decay chains of^(297-300)119 agreed with the experimental data,proving the reliability of our calculations.The present study determined the most favorable heavy-cluster emissions from these nuclei and provided suitable projectile-target combinations for their synthesis. 展开更多

The study of nuclide production and its properties in the N=126 neutron-rich region is prevalent in nuclear physics and astrophysics research.The upcoming High-energy FRagment Separator(HFRS)at the High-Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility(HIAF),an in-flight separator at relativistic energies,is characterized by high beam intensity,large ion-optical acceptance,high magnetic rigidity,and high momentum resolution power.This provides an opportunity to study the production and properties of neutron-rich nuclei around N=126.In this paper,an experimental scheme is proposed to produce neutron-rich nuclei around N=126 and simultaneously measure their mass and lifetime based on the HFRS separator;the feasibility of this scheme is evaluated through simulations.The results show that under the high-resolution optical mode,many new neutron-rich nuclei approaching the r-process abundance peak around A=195 can be produced for the first time,and many nuclei with unknown masses and lifetimes can be produced with high statistics.Using the time-of-flight corrected by the measured dispersive position and energy loss information,the cocktails produced from 208 Pb fragmentation can be unambiguously identified.Moreover,the masses of some neutron-rich nuclei near N=126 can be measured with high precision using the time-of-flight magnetic rigidity technique.This indicates that the HIAF-HFRS facility has the potential for the production and property research of neutron-rich nuclei around N=126,which is of great significance for expanding the chart of nuclides,developing nuclear theories,and understanding the origin of heavy elements in the universe. 展开更多

Effective nucleus-nucleus potentials for heavy-ion fusion reactions

Based on the Skyrme energy density functional and reaction Q-value,this study proposed an effective nucleus-nucleus poten-tial for describing the capture barrier in heavy-ion fusion processes.The 443 extracted barrier heights were well reproduced with a root-mean-square(RMS)error of 1.53 MeV,and the RMS deviations with respect to 144 time-dependent Hartree-Fock capture barrier heights were only 1.05 MeV.Coupled with the Siwek-Wilczyński formula,wherein three parameters were determined by the proposed effective potentials,the measured capture cross sections at energies around the barriers were reasonably well reproduced for several fusion reactions induced by nearly spherical nuclei as well as by nuclei with large deformations,such as^(154)Sm and^(238)U.The shallow capture pockets and small values of the average barrier radii resulted in the reduction of the capture cross sections for 52,54Cr-and 64 Ni-induced reactions,which were related to the synthesis of new super-heavy nuclei. 展开更多

Heavy-ion collisions are powerful tools for studying hypernuclear physics.We develop a dynamical coalescence model coupled with an ART model(version1.0) to study the production rates of light nuclear clusters and hypernuclei in heavy-ion reactions,for instance,the deuteron(d),triton(t),helium(~3He),and hypertriton(_A^3H)in minimum bias(0-80%centrality)~6Li+^(12)C reactions at beam energy of 3.5A GeV.The penalty factor for light clusters is extracted from the yields,and the distributions of 0 angle of particles,which provide direct suggesetions about the location of particle detectors in the near future facility-High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility(HIAF) are investigated.Our calculation demonstrates that HIAF is suitable for studying hypernuclear physics. 展开更多

With the development of radioactive beam facilities,studies concerning the shell evolution of unstable nuclei have recently gained prominence.Intruder components,particularly s-wave intrusion,in the low-lying states of light neutron-rich nuclei near N=8 are of importance in the study of shell evolution.The use of single-nucleon transfer reactions in inverse kinematics has been a sensitive tool that can be used to quantitatively investigate the single-particle orbital component of selectively populated states.The spin-parity,spectroscopic factor(or single-particle strength),and effective singleparticle energy can all be extracted from such reactions.These observables are often useful to explain the nature of shell evolution,and to constrain,check,and test the parameters used in nuclear structure models.In this article,the experimental studies of the intruder components in lowlying states of neutron-rich nuclei of He,Li,Be,B,and C isotopes using various single-nucleon transfer reactions are reviewed.The focus is laid on the precise determination of the intruder s-wave strength in low-lying states. 展开更多

The neutron flow model predicts that neutrons start to flow freely between the approaching nuclei ^58Fe and ^208 pb at s=3fm, a length in which the effective surfaces of these nuclei are 3 fm apart. As a result of neutron flow, the N/Z value rapidly reaches an equilibrium distribution. Meanwhile the system, originally in the fusion valley, is injected into the asymmetric fission valley. The dynamic process of the composite nucleus in the asymmetric fission valley is treated with a two-parameter Smoluchowski equation. It is shown that the probability to overcome the asymmetric fission barrier and to achieve compound nucleus configuration, hence the fusion cross section is obviously suppressed due to the effect of isospin equilibrium. 展开更多

Small modular thorium-based graphite-moderated molten salt reactors (smTMSRs), which combine the advantages of small modular reactors and molten salt reactors, are regarded as a wise development path to speed deployment time. In a smTMSR, low enriched uranium and thorium fuels are used in once-through mode, which makes a marked difference in their neutronic properties compared with the case when a conventional molten salt breeder reactor is used. This study investigated the temperature reactivity coefficient (TRC) in a smTMSR, which is mainly affected by the molten salt volume fraction (VF) and the heavy nuclei concentration in the fuel salt (HN). The fourfactor formula method and the reaction rate method were used to indicate the reasons for the TRC change, including the fuel density effect, the fuel Doppler effect, and the graphite thermal scattering effect. The results indicate that only the fuel density has a positive effect on the TRC in the undermoderated region. Thermal scattering from both salt and graphite has a significant negative influence on the TRC in the overmoderated region. The maximal effective multiplication factor, which shows the highest fuel utilization, is located at 10% VF and 12 mol% HN and is still located in the negative TRC region. In addition, on increasing the heavy nuclei amount from 2 mol% HN to 12 mol% HN (VF = 10%), the total TRC undergoes an obvious change from - 11 to - 3 pcm/K, which implies that the change in the HN caused by the fuel feed online should be small to avoid potential trouble in the reactivity control scheme. 展开更多

The nuclear charge radius plays a vital role in determining the equation of state of isospin asymmetric nuclear matter.Based on the correlation between the differences in charge radii of mirror-partner nuclei and the slope parameter(L)of symmetry energy at the nuclear saturation density,an analysis of the calibrated slope parameter L was performed in finite nuclei.In this study,relativistic and nonrelativistic energy density functionals were employed to constrain the nuclear symmetry energy through the available databases of the mirror-pair nuclei^(36)Ca–^(36)S,^(38)Ca–^(38)Ar,and ^(54)Ni–^(54)Fe.The deduced nuclear symmetry energy was located in the range 29.89–31.85 MeV,and L of the symmetry energy essentially covered the range 22.50–51.55 MeV at the saturation density.Moreover,the extracted L_(s) at the sensitivity density p_(s)=0.10 fm^(-3) was located in the interval range 30.52–39.76 MeV. 展开更多

Calculations give... The properties of N = 7, 8, 9 isotones with Z = 4 - 8 are studied in the framework of the single-particle shell model. A tentative orbit-orbit coupling is introduced in the average nuclear potential. Calculations give a unified description of the structures of N- 7, 8, 9 isotones. The neutron level inversion in N = 7 and N = 9 isotones is discussed. The ground-state level inversion in 11Be and ^15C is reproduced. The inversion between 2s1/2 and 1d5/2 neutron levels in 14B and 13Be is predicted. The possible halo structures in N = 7 and N = 9 isotones are analysed. The numerical results confirm the one-neutron halo structures in ^11Be(2s1/2), ^11 Be(1p1/2), ^12B(2s1/2), ^133C(2s1/2), ^14B(2s1/2) and ^15C(2s1/2). The study implies that the attempt of considering orbit orbit interaction in the shell model may be a feasible way to explain the anomalous properties of exotic light nuclei. 展开更多

The fusion dynamics of the formation of super-heavy nuclei were investigated thoroughly within the din-uclear system model.The Monte Carlo approach was implemented in the nucleon transfer process to include all possible orientations,at which the dinuclear system is assumed to be formed at the touching configuration of dinuclear fragments.The production cross sections of superheavy nuclei Cn,Fl,Lv,Ts,and Og were calculated and compared with the available data from Dubna.The evaporation residue excitation functions in the channels of pure neutrons and charged particles were systematically analyzed.The combinations of 44 Sc,48;50 Ti,49;51 V,52;54 Cr,58;62 Fe,and 62;64 Ni bombarding the actinide nuclides 238 U,244 Pu,248 Cm,247;249 Bk,249;251 Cf,252 Es,and 243 Am were calculated to produce the superheavy elements with Z¼119?122.We obtained that the production cross sections sensitively depend on the neutron richness of the reaction system.The structure of the evaporation residue excitation function is related to the neutron separation energy and fission barrier of the compound nucleus. 展开更多

In the framework of the Skyrme–Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov approach with the Sk T interaction, the pairing effects on the proton bubble structures of ^(46)Ar and ^(206)Hg are discussed. In calculations, three kinds of pairing forces (volume, surface and mixed pairing interactions) are used. For ^(46)Ar, it is shown that the bubble structure with the volume pairing is almost the same as that with the mixed pairing. The bubble with the surface pairing is less pronounced than those with the volume and mixed pairings. Analyzing the density distributions and occupation probabilities of the proton s states and the quasi-degeneracy between the proton 2s_(1/2) and 1d_(3/2) orbitals, we explain the difference between the bubble structure with the surface pairing and those with the volume and mixed pairings. For ^(206)Hg, it is seen that the proton density distribution with the surface pairing is different from those with the volume and mixed pairings in the whole region of the radial distance. In addition, it is found that the bubbles with the three pairing forces are different from each other and the least pronounced bubble is obtained with the surface pairing. Thus the selection of the pairing force is important for the study of the nuclear bubble structure. 展开更多
