With the globalization of information and business, people pay more and more attention to English reading. English reading, as one of the four skills of language learning, plays an important role in the English learning. In a sense, English reading, together with listening comprehension, speaking, and writing, is an important skill and holds a crucial status in learning the English language. Cooperative learning is a kind of teaching theory and strategy system based on group. The theory of cooperative learning which is applied in English reading class in senior high school and change the traditional teacher- centered teaching type. Cooperative learning as a breakthrough and complement against traditional classroom instruction is an efficient teaching approach, which can promote learner's cognitive ability and improve their competence to use language. Now more than 10 million college students take part in the exam every year. On August 14, 2013, the CET-4 and CET-6 examination committee reformed the structure of the CET-6 papers. After that the sentence translation was changed into paragraph translation,the scores of translation section also increased to 15 points which is more difficult and more important than before. There is no doubt that CET-6will exert a great impact on the teaching and learning of College English in China. This thesis focuses on the washback effect of CET-6 translation test towards college English teaching and learning.First of all, this paper introduces the CET-6 translation test requirements, and the score requirements of translation part. The author also illustrates some significant language testing research of both domestic and foreign scholars, and explains the concept of reliability and validity. Secondly, through the survey method of interviews and questionnaire the author study the characteristics of teaching in college classroom, the effect of translation teaching, and how do students to study translation. The author makes a further research on the interaction between the translation test and the teaching and learning based on the relevant theories. At last, the author finds that the negative washback effect of the CET-6 translation test is greater than the positive one. The author reflects on the current translation teaching and learning in China, and hopes to minimize the negative effects of CET-6 translation test. 展开更多

"College English Curriculum Requirements", edited by Department of Higher Education(2007), put forward clearly one of the key points of the national College English teaching reform was to strengthen the application of computer to college English teaching and apply computer-and-classroom-based English teaching mode, improving the previous mode dominated by a single teacher. Most colleges and universities in China have basically achieved the popularity of computer multimedia classrooms and campus networks. However, according to researches(Xia, 2002), most teachers still hold the main role of them in classes as"language interpreter"and"language instructor". Although advanced computer technology has been provided, most teachers feel confused or difficult in using it to assist their English teaching efficiently. As a consequence, computer technology fail to play its role in English classes. Driven by the great development of science and technology, computer has brought about incredible changes in every aspect of social life since 1980 s. In current times, almost every aspect of college students' life has been closely associated with computer. However, in most situations, computer is not taken as a typical language learning tool in their daily life. It is known that most students' English basis is relatively weak in vocational colleges; meanwhile, the way in which they learned English during the middle school period was basically translation- based teaching. Thus they have little or even no interest in English learning at all. In this way, discovering a new and interesting way with the aid of computer to learn English is of essential importance. Based on this, the paper discusses five major aspects under the circumstance of computer-assisted English learning. It is hoped that vocational college English teaching and learning can become more efficient by means of computer technology, finally students' English learning motivation and English competence can be enhanced to a great extent. 展开更多
