To address the seismic face stability challenges encountered in urban and subsea tunnel construction,an efficient probabilistic analysis framework for shield tunnel faces under seismic conditions is proposed.Based on ...To address the seismic face stability challenges encountered in urban and subsea tunnel construction,an efficient probabilistic analysis framework for shield tunnel faces under seismic conditions is proposed.Based on the upper-bound theory of limit analysis,an improved three-dimensional discrete deterministic mechanism,accounting for the heterogeneous nature of soil media,is formulated to evaluate seismic face stability.The metamodel of failure probabilistic assessments for seismic tunnel faces is constructed by integrating the sparse polynomial chaos expansion method(SPCE)with the modified pseudo-dynamic approach(MPD).The improved deterministic model is validated by comparing with published literature and numerical simulations results,and the SPCE-MPD metamodel is examined with the traditional MCS method.Based on the SPCE-MPD metamodels,the seismic effects on face failure probability and reliability index are presented and the global sensitivity analysis(GSA)is involved to reflect the influence order of seismic action parameters.Finally,the proposed approach is tested to be effective by a engineering case of the Chengdu outer ring tunnel.The results show that higher uncertainty of seismic response on face stability should be noticed in areas with intense earthquakes and variation of seismic wave velocity has the most profound influence on tunnel face stability.展开更多

By adjusting the lengths of the functions in the kernel, the balance between resolution retaining and interference suppressing can be adjusted conveniently. The proposed method with merits of interference terms reduction and noise suppression can provide time frequency representation of better readability and more accurate instantaneous frequency (IF) estimation with higher order SP-PVfVD. Modelling and simulation of projectile flight is at the core of ballistic computer software and is essential to the study of performance of rifles and projectiles in various engagement conditions.An effective and repr...Modelling and simulation of projectile flight is at the core of ballistic computer software and is essential to the study of performance of rifles and projectiles in various engagement conditions.An effective and representative numerical model of projectile flight requires a relatively good approximation of the aerodynamics.The aerodynamic coefficients of the projectile model should be described as a series of piecewise polynomial functions of the Mach number that ideally meet the following conditions:they are continuous,differentiable at least once,and have a relatively low degree.The paper provides the steps needed to generate such piecewise polynomial functions using readily available tools,and then compares Piecewise Cubic Hermite Interpolating Polynomial(PCHIP),cubic splines,and piecewise linear functions,and their variant,as potential curve fitting methods to approximate the aerodynamics of a generic small arms projectile.A key contribution of the paper is the application of PCHIP to the approximation of projectile aerodynamics,and its evaluation against a set of criteria.Finally,the paper provides a baseline assessment of the impact of the polynomial functions on flight trajectory predictions obtained with 6-degree-of-freedom simulations of a generic projectile.展开更多

A memory polynomial baseband predistorter based on an indirect learning architecture is presented for improving the linearity of an envelope tracing (ET) amplifier with application to a wireless transmitter. To deal with large peak-to-average ratio (PAR) problem, a clipping procedure for the input signal is employed. Then the system performance is verified by simulation results. For a single carrier wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) signal of 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM), about 2% improvement of the error vector magnitude (EVM) is achieved at an average output power of 45.5 dBm and gain of 10.6 dB, with adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) of -64.55 dBc at offset frequency of 5 MHz. Moreover, a three-carrier WCDMA signal and a third-generation (3G) long term evolution (LTE) signal are used as test signals to demonstrate the performance of the proposed linearization scheme under different bandwidth signals.展开更多

The merit of the GNGD algorithm is that its learning rate provides compensation for the independent assumptions in the derivation of NLMS, thus its stability is improved. Computer simulation shows that the proposed predistorter is very robust. It can overcome the sensitivity of initialization parameters and get a better linearization performance.展开更多

In this paper, the two concepts, generic regular decomposition (GRD) and regular-decomposition-unstable (RDU) variety introduced in the authors' previous work for generic zero-dimensional systems, are extended to the case where the parametric systems are not necessarily zero-dimensional. An algorithm is provided to compute GRDs and the associated RDU varieties of parametric systems simultaneously on the basis of the algorithm for generic zero-dimensional systems proposed in the authors' previous work. Then the solutions of any parametric system can be represented by the solutions of finitely many regular systems and the decomposition is stable at any parameter value in the complement of the associated RDU variety of the parameter space. The related definitions and the results presented in the authors' previous work are also generalized and a further discussion on RDU varieties is given from an experimental point of view. The new algorithm has been implemented on the basis of DISCOVERER with Maple 16 and experimented with a number of benchmarks from the literature.展开更多

The cost function cons...This paper addresses the extremal problem of the null subcarriers based Doppler scale estimation in underwater acoustic (UWA) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication. The cost function constructed of the total energy of null subcarriers through discrete Fourier transform (DFT) is proposed. The frequencies of null subcarriers are identified from non-uniform Doppler shift at each tentative scaling factor. Then it is proved that the cost function can be fitted as a quadratic polynomial near the global minimum. An accurate Doppler scale estimation is achieved by the location of the global scarifying precision and increasing the computation minimum through polynomial interpolation, without complexity. A shallow water experiment is conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method. Excellent performance results are obtained in ultrawideband UWA channels with a relative bandwidth of 67%, when the transmitter and the receiver are moving at a relative speed of 5 kn, which validates the proposed method.展开更多

The moments estimated directly from a sample of observed values of a random variable could be conventional moments (moments about the origin or central moments) and probability-weighted moments (PWMs). Probability curves derived from orthogonal polynomials and conventional moments are probability density functions (PDF), and probability curves derived from orthogonal polynomials and PWMs are inverse cumulative density functions (CDF) of random variables. The proposed approach is verified by two most commonly-used theoretical standard distributions: normal and exponential distribution. Examples from observed data of uniaxial compressive strength of a rock and concrete strength data are presented for illustrative purposes. The results show that probability curves of rock variable can be accurately derived from orthogonal polynomials and sample moments. 文摘A polynomial-rooting based fourth-order cumulant algorithm is presented for direction-of-arrival(DOA) estimation of second-order fully noncircular source signals, using a uniform linear array(ULA). This algorithm inherits all merits of its spectralsearching counterpart except for the applicability to arbitrary array geometry, while reducing considerably the computation cost.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the previously developed closed-form second-order noncircular ESPRIT method, in terms of processing capacity and DOA estimation accuracy, especially in the presence of spatially colored noise.

文摘In this paper, the global controllability for a class of high dimensional polynomial systems has been investigated and a constructive algebraic criterion algorithm for their global controllability has been obtained. By the criterion algorithm, the global controllability can be determined in finite steps of arithmetic operations. The algorithm is imposed on the coefficients of the polynomials only and the analysis technique is based on Sturm Theorem in real algebraic geometry and its modern progress. Finally, the authors will give some examples to show the application of our results.
