However, the boundaries of the sub-ob...The pyramidal multiphase level set framework (PMLSF) based on the technique of painting background (TPBG) and the Chan-Vese model can detect multiple objects on a given image. However, the boundaries of the sub-object obtained by PMLSF-TPBG are not variable since a specialcolor parameter is used in TPBG. To solve the problem, a new technique utilizing a varying parameter is proposed to ensure that PMLSF is effective for the detection of the desired boundaries of the sub-object. The interval of the variable color parameter is proved and the effects of the parameter are also discussed. Experimental results for the brain tumor detection show that different boundaries of the brain tumors can be detected with different color parameters. It is especially useful for clinical diagnoses.展开更多

Paint removal from steel structure is executed for shipyards of marine and offshore engineering.Due to environmental unfriendliness and unhealthy drawbacks of sand blasting technique, laser ablation technique is propo...Paint removal from steel structure is executed for shipyards of marine and offshore engineering.Due to environmental unfriendliness and unhealthy drawbacks of sand blasting technique, laser ablation technique is proposed as a substituting method.By absorbing high energy of the 1064 nm pulsed laser, the paint is vaporized quickly.The ablated debris is then collected by using a suction pump.Initial metal surface of the steel is exposed when laser beam irradiates perpendicularly and scans over it.The cleaned surface fulfills the requirements of surface preparation standards ISO 8501 of SA2.The adhesion is further characterized with pull-off test after carrying out painting with Jotamastic 87 aluminum paint.The repainting can be embedded onto the laser cleaned surface to bond much more tightly.The excellent adhesion strength of 20 MPa between repainted coating and the substrate is achieved, which is higher than what is required by shipyards applications.展开更多

Compared with hyperbolic velocity estimation methods,nonhyperbolic methods(such as shifted hyperbola)are better choices for large offsets or vertical transverse isotropy(VTI)media.Since local seismic event slope conta...Compared with hyperbolic velocity estimation methods,nonhyperbolic methods(such as shifted hyperbola)are better choices for large offsets or vertical transverse isotropy(VTI)media.Since local seismic event slope contains subsurface information,they can be used to estimate zero-offset two-way traveltime and normal moveout velocity.The traditional velocity estimation methods require a great deal of manual work and are also prone to human error.In order to estimate the traveltime parameters for VTI media automatically,in this paper,we propose to use predictive painting and similarity-weighted clustering to obtain traveltime parameters.The predictive painting is used to estimate zero-offset two-way traveltime,and the shifted-hyperbola traveltime equation is used to obtain velocity and anisotropy attributes.We first map local slopes to zero-offset two-way traveltime and moveout-parameters domain and then use similarity-weightedk-means clustering to find the maximum likelihood anisotropy parameters of the main subsurface structures.In order to demonstrate that,we apply the similarity-weighted clustering method to synthetic and field data examples and the results are of higher accuracy when compared to the ones obtained using multiparameter semblance-based method.From estimation error section,it can be seen that the estimation error of multiparameter semblance-based method is about 3-5 times that of the proposed method.展开更多
