The aim of this study is to examine seasonal changes in Cu and Co concentrations of three plant species for monitoring the effects of pollution in Elazig,Turkey.For this purpose,the leaves of the Pinus nigra L.,Cedrus...The aim of this study is to examine seasonal changes in Cu and Co concentrations of three plant species for monitoring the effects of pollution in Elazig,Turkey.For this purpose,the leaves of the Pinus nigra L.,Cedrus libani and Cupressus arizonica together with soil samples were collected from different points depending on traffic intensity,nearness the city center and cement factory as well as control location during different months of the year.Flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer(FAAS) was used for measurement of the metals in clear digests after the dry ashing method.Copper and Co concentrations were in the ranges from 1.3to 2.6mg.kg-1 and<LOD to 0.26mg.kg-1 for Pinus nigra L.,1.2to 4.7mg.kg-1 and<LOD to 0.41mg.kg-1 for Cedrus libani and 1.5to 4.8mg.kg-1 and<LOD to 0.42mg.kg-1 for Cupressus arizonica,respectively.The levels observed for Cu and Co in the soil ranged from 12to 38mg.kg-1 and 6.0to 17mg.kg-1,respectively.展开更多
OBJECTIVE To evaluate antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,antimicrobial activities of Pinus Roxburghii stem bark in vitro and evaluation of in vivo anti-osteoporotic activity in female rats.METHODS The antioxidant activity ...OBJECTIVE To evaluate antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,antimicrobial activities of Pinus Roxburghii stem bark in vitro and evaluation of in vivo anti-osteoporotic activity in female rats.METHODS The antioxidant activity of plant extract was assessed using DPPH,nitric oxide and H2O2 radical scavenging methods.In vitro anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using albumin denaturation,membrane stabilization methods at various concentrations.The antibacterial and anti-fungal activity of extracts was also done against micro-organisms:Pseudomonas aurignosa,Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,Bacillus subtilis and Candida albicans.Quantitative analysis of total phenolics,flavonoids and tannins were also estimated.Female Wistar albino rats(220-260g)were employed and ovaries were surgically removed bilaterally in anaesthesia which causes post-menopausal syndrome in all the groups except sham operated rats.Extracts of Pinus roxburghii stem at 100 and 200mg·kg-1,po.and tamoxifen as standard 1mg·kg-1,po.were given.Acute toxicity study was also done.RESULTS Treatment with Pinus roxburghii extract in two doses significantly(P<0.05)ameliorated surgical ovariectomy induced biochemical and biomechanical changes like decrease in bone density,bone strength,alkaline phosphatase,serum calcium,serum phosphorous and increase in urine hydroxylproline levels.Plant extract also has significant(P<0.05)antioxidant,antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities.CONCLUSION The assessments done in present investigation may conclude that the constituents of Pinus roxburghii has significant potential in ameliorating oxidative,inflammatory reactions and possesses anti-microbial;osteobalstic and osteoclastic activities used for calcium homeostatis and improved bone strength in female rats.展开更多

In each plot, four layers were sampled(litter layer,0~10 cm,10~20 cm & 20~30 cm),adding up to 72 soil sample.The area for large_sized soil animals was 50 cm×50 cm,and the area for middle_small_sized soil animals was 10 cm × 10 cm.Separated soil animals through adopting hand_picking method and Tullgren method respectively.Sampled the soil animals in two continuing years.Shannon_Wiener index was adopted to analyze the diversity of soil animals.Monad liner regression was used to search the relationship between soil animals and environmental factors.The dominant groups were Oribatida, Isotomidae.There were relatively great changes in groups and individual numbers of dominant groups and rare groups when the reason changed.The individual numbers of dominant groups and the groups of rare groups changed.The number of individual and group was the most in August.Obviously it correlated with climatic factors in middle temperate zone.The evenness was low and dominance was high. The diversity index was not most.Among the annual fluctuating there was a increasing trend. The evenness was low and dominance was high.The diversity index was low.It conformed with the law of reason change.The correlation between soil animals and atmospheric temperature,rainfall,ground temperature and sunlight showed the correlation with rainfall and soil temperature was the most significant.展开更多
