Herein,we report the synthesis and third-order nonlinear optical(NLO)properties of a novel cage-based 2D metal-organic framework constructed from Ti_(4)L_(6)(L4-=embonate)cage combined with Mg^(2+)and tris[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl]amine(tipa)ligand,whose molecular formula is(Me_(2)CH_(2))_(2)[Mg_(3)(Ti_(4)L_(6))(tipa)(H_(2)O)_(12)](PTC‑378).The Ti_(4)L_(6)tetrahedral cages serve as robust building units,while the Mg^(2+)ions and tipa ligands provide structural stability and tunable optical properties.The resulting PTC‑378 film exhibited intriguing third-order NLO property,which was systematically investigated using Z-scan techniques.Our results demonstrate that the synergistic interaction between Ti_(4)L_(6)cages andπ-conjugated ligands significantly enhances the NLO performance of the materials.CCDC:2453909. 展开更多

This study involved a comprehensive investigation aimed at achieving efficient multi-millijoule THz wave generation by exploiting the unique properties of cylindrical GaAs waveguides as effective mediators of the conversion of laser energy into THz waves.Through meticulous investigation,valuable insights into optimizing THz generation processes for practical applications were unearthed.By investigating Hertz potentials,an eigen-value equation for the solutions of the guided modes(i.e.,eigenvalues)was found.The effects of various param-eters,including the effective mode index and the laser pulse power,on the electric field components of THz radia-tion,including the fundamental TE(transverse electric)and TM(transverse magnetic)modes,were evaluated.By analyzing these factors,this research elucidated the nuanced mechanisms governing THz wave generation within cylindrical GaAs waveguides,paving the way for refined methodologies and enhanced efficiency.The sig-nificance of cylindrical GaAs waveguides extends beyond their roles as mere facilitators of THz generation;their design and fabrication hold the key to unlocking the potential for compact and portable THz systems.This trans-formative capability not only amplifies the efficiency of THz generation but also broadens the horizons of practical applications. 展开更多

Two alkali-metal sulfamates nonlinear optical(NLO)crystals,Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))and Na(NH_(2)SO_(3)),have been obtained through the facile evaporation method.Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))crystallizes in the polar space group Pca2_(1)(No.29).The structure of Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))can be described as a 3D network formed by[LiO_(4)]^(7-)polyhedral connecting with NH_(2)SO_(3)^(-)tetrahedra through corner-sharing.Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))crystallizes in the polar space group P2_(1)2_(1)2_(1)(No.19).The structure of Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))can be described as a 3D network formed by distorted[NaO_(6)]^(11-)octahedral connecting with NH_(2)SO_(3)^(-)tetrahedra through corner-sharing.The UV-Vis-near-infrared spectra demonstrate that Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))and Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))possessed large optical band gaps of 5.25 and 4.81 eV,respectively.Powder second-harmonic generation(SHG)measurements demonstrate that the SHG intensity of Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))and Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))were 0.32 times and 0.31 times that of KH_(2)PO_(4),respectively.First-principles calculations confirm the nonlinear optical performance mainly derived from the synergistic effect of amino sulfonate anions and alkali metal oxide anionic polyhedra.CCDC:2339109,Li(NH_(2)SO_(3));2339110,Na(NH_(2)SO_(3)). 展开更多

Barium metaborate (BaB 2O 4) exists in two forms the high temperature for m α phase and the low temperature form β phase,with the phase transition poi nt at around 925℃.The low temperature phase (β BBO) is an excellent NLO cryst al for UV region,while the high temperature one (α BBO) is known as a good bir efringent material.α BBO crystal possesses better transparency in the ultravio let region compared with commonly used YVO 4 and CaCO 3 crystals.However,due t o phase transition problem,it is difficult to grow single α BBO crystals by D CZ method,which restricts its wider application.α BBO crystal usually cracks upon cooling resulted from phase transition to β phase.Therefore,it is difficult to grow β BBO single crystals directly from pure BaB 2O 4 mel t;however,to grow single crystals of α BBO is not easy,either. Our recent experiments showed that one could avoid cracking of α BBO cryst als by Sr 2+ doping.This minute amount of Sr 2+ plays the role of structure stabilizer,which inhibits structural reconstruction. In this way,Sr 2+ d op ed BBO single crystals do not subject to phase transition from 925℃ down to roo m temperature. We have mow successfully grown out α BBO single crystals 30mm in diameter by D CZ method from Sr x Ba 1- x BO 4 melt with Sr concentration 0.3 0 .5%.The ratation rate is 10 15r/min,pulling speed is 1 2mm/h.Preliminary tests revealed that its structure and physic chemical properties were almost identic al to those grown from pure melts.These Sr 2+ doped α BBO crystals are no w being widely used in optical isolators. 展开更多

Self-diffraction appears when the strong laser goes through two-dimensional material suspension,and this spatial self-phase modulation(SPPM)phenomenon can be used to measure nonlinear optical parameters and achieve optical switch.At present,the mechanism of SPPM is still ambiguous.The debate mainly focuses on whether the phenomenon is caused by the nonlinear refractive index of the two-dimensional material or the thermal effect of the laser.The lack of theory limits the dimension of the phase modulation to the radius of the diffraction ring and the vertical imbalance.Therefore,it is urgent to establish a unified and universal SSPM theoretical system of two-dimensional material. 展开更多

Great interest is being focused on the growth technique of KDP crystal,the first choice material for the fabrication of frequency converter and electro optic switcher used in the studies of inertial confinement fusion (ICF).To reduce the cost of growth,scientists are endeavoring to promote the growth rate.The“point seed” method is one of rapid growth techniques recently developed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.In the former technique,crystals are grown in all three directions at an averaged rate of 10 15mm/day. Impurities are regarded as one of the factors to inhibit the growth rate.It is generally accepted that high valence cationic ions,such as Fe 3+ ,Cr 3+ ,Al 3+ ,etc,are easy to be adsorbed on the prismatic faces and inhibit their growth.Some anions,especially those have ability to form strong hydra bond,such as phosphate derivatives (polyphosphate,metaphosphate,pyrophosphate,etc) have significant inhibiting effects on the growth of KDP pyramidal face.It is suggested that the H bonding is the key interaction force between the growing surface and the impurities. 展开更多

Ca 4GdO(BO 3) 3 (GdCOB) single crystal is a new nonlinear optical crystal whi ch was discovere d in recent years.It has a large effective nonlinear optical coefficient,a high damage threshold,good chemical and physical properties and insensitivity to moi sture.Its moderate birefringence is favorable for phase matching.These propertie s make it possible to obtain frequency doubling laser of 1.064μm.By doping,it may be a excellent self frequency doubling crystal.Transparent single crystals GdCOB as needle were grown by the flux method. Chemical compounds Gd 2O 3,CaCO 3,B 2O 3 and H 3BO 3 were used as starti ng materials.By many experiments,with different ratio,it is proper to mix the st arting materials according to the reaction Gd 2O 3+8CaCO 3+6H 3BO 3=2 Ca 4 G dO(BO 3) 3+8CO 2+9H 2O.PbO was used as the main flux ,adding moderate PbF 2 , and B 2O 3.B 2O 3 also can be used as initial compounds and it is also a goo d solvent,but at high temperature,it has heavy viscousness.The crystals grown fr om B 2O 3 commonly has inclusion,so we used H 3BO 3 instead of B 2O 3.At t he same time,we considered that at high temperature H 3BO 3 will be decomposed and evaporated,which would make the initial composition change.When proper B 2 O 3 was added,it not noly can be used as solvent,but also can stabilize solvent component.The melt was contained in a platinum crucible.After holding the melt 1200℃ for 24h,it was cooled at a rate of 0.5℃ per hour.Single crystals GdCOB were obtained.With microscope,we observed the crystals have defects such as inc lusion and bubbles,which are related to rapid cooling,imperfect melt transport a nd unstable temperature. 展开更多

Potassium lithium niobate single crystal with a dimension of 20mm×15mm×30mm was grown by EFG technique in our laboratory.Compared with Czochralski method for the growth of KLN crystals,EFG technique possesses the following merits.Crack of crystals can be weakened during the lowering of temperature and the crystals free of crack can be obtained.The crystals have no rotation,the growth striation caused by the rotation of the crystals can be eliminated.With action of capillary from a die hole,the convective effect of melt at solid liquid interface can be reduced,therefore the homogeneity of crystals is better than that of crystals obtained by Czochralski method.The growth striation parallels each other and is perpendicular to the growth direction,so the good blue SHG can be obtained when ground wave goes through the KLN crystals.Since capillary force does not fully counteract the convective effect,the inhomogeneity of crystals can’t completely be eliminated.The low SHG conversion efficiency of KLN crystals is mainly caused by inhomogeneneity of crystals.For the growth of incongruent melting crystals,the growth rate is limited by the rejection of impurity,this also makes homogeneity of composition become bad.In the growth of KLN crystals by EFG technique,the fluctuation of the temperature at solid liquid interface should be enough small,and the film thickness of melt should be proper.Too thick film of melt makes the process of crystal growth unstable;too thin film of melt can lead to the constitutional supercooling. 展开更多

YCOB晶体的坩埚下降法生长条件研究

Ca 4YO(BO 3) 3(YCOB) which possesses good NLO properties and chemical stability,is an excellent candidate for frequency conversion crystals to produce green and blue light (SHG and THG of Nd∶YAG laser).In this paper,preparation of the feed material and the vertical Bridgman growth condition for YCOB crystal is reported for the first time to our knowledge. YCOB crystals have been grown from the feed materials composed of Y 2O 3(4N),CaCO 3/CaO (A.R.) and H 3BO 3/B 2O 3(4N)by vertical Bridgman method.Since Ca 4YO(BO 3) 3 melts congruently,the feed material should be prepared in the stoichiometric composition.The evaporation of B 2O 3 at high temperature and the hygroscopicity of CaO,B 2O 3 and Y 2O 3 were carefully considered.It was showed by experiments that the feed material prepared by directly and thoroughly mixing together stoichiometric amount of Y 2O 3,CaO and B 2O 3 is suitable for the Bridgman growth of YCOB crystal.The melting point of YCOB crystal is 1510℃,and Pt crucible less than 1.0mm thick was chosen.The temperature of the furnace was controlled from 1560℃ to 1650℃.Owing to the extremely high melting points of both Y 2O 3 and CaO,the feed material had been heated at the above temperature for more than 10 hours before growth so that it melts thoroughly.The growth rate of 0.2-0.6mm/h and the temperature gradient near the solid-liquid interface of 40-60°C/cm were chosen.The Crack free and transparent YCOB crystals with 25mm in diameter and 50mm long have been grown in near sealed Pt crucibles under the above growth condition,which suggests that the vertical Bridgman method is suitable for the growth of YCOB crystal. 展开更多

Based on anionic group theory,a computer assisted nonlinear optical(NLO)crystal design system has been developed.This method has proved to be a highly efficient means of discovering NLO crystals.With the help of this system,a series of new borate crystals,like as KBe 2BO 3F 2(KBBF),Sr 2Be 2B 2O 7(SBBO),Ba 2Be 2B 2O 7(SBBO),BaAl 2B 2O 7(BABO)and K 2Al 2B 2O 7(KABO)have been discovered.Among them KBBF possesses the shortest SHG wavelength output,SBBO has the largest SHG coefficient and KABO is found to have the best optical homogeneity and easy to grow out large size of the crystal.The investigation showed that KABO is a promising NLO crystal for 4 th and 5 th harmonic generations of Nd∶YAG laser. 展开更多

The optical parametric device design based on parametric fluorescent produce thr ough sum frequency phase matching in nonlinear optical crystals.It is a tune pr o cess of refractive index about parametric and pump light in nonlinear optical cr ystals namely.But refractive index of nonlinear optical crystals possess electro o ptic effect can change via apply transformable electro field.This change only w a nts a time of ns grade.So optical parametric device with nonlinear optical cryst als possess suitability electrooptic effect can realize speediness tune in princ iple.The idea about design on the recommended device here is somewhat as follows .The tune model is phase tuning.To strive increase the effect of electro optic f unction under keep immovable polarization directions of 3 wavelength in the opti cal parametric process,to strive convenient for apply electro field,the electro field is only sensitive for a refractive index of some wavelength in specificall y spectrum region.The principium examination has showed that the idea is reasona ble.Our count have show also that its tune precision same as expectance. 展开更多

KDP and its deuterated analog DKDP (K (D x H 1- x ) 2PO 4) are the first ch oice materials in the fabrication of optical switcher and frequency converter fo r inertial confinement fusion study.In the past years,the growth technique has b een d eveloped greatly.Large aperture crystals can be grown with various methods,such as,temperature decreasing,solution circular flow,and rapid growth method,which i ntend to reduce the cost of production and satisfy the requirement of ICF.As to rapid growth method,much attention has been paid to solution stability and the K DP crystal qualities of this method which has been proved that high speed can be obtained.LLNL has grown KDP crystal with dimension of 57mm×57mm×55mm,260 kil ogram in 59 days.This method is very different from conventional method for grow ing KDP crystal in three directions uniformly.In addition to the growth of the pyramidal faces,rapid crystallization from supersaturated solution results in si gnificant growth of prismatic faces.Inclusions of growth solution and incorporat ion of metal impurities will occur in the prism sector as prism extends very muc h by this method.Fast growth needs high supersaturation(10%—30%),so the grow th condition,such as ,raw materials,apparatus,temperature lowing proceed should be controlled very strictly.In order to improve the utilization of KDP crystal g rown by point seed method,we developed 4 vessels circular technique on the bas e of 3 vessels circular technique recently. 展开更多

All solid state UV lasers have been in demand for various industrial and medical applications because of the convenient operation procedure and cost effectiveness as alternative to corrosive gas based excimer laser.The performance of such lasers seems to depend on the capability and reliability of UV frequency converter.In the third decade,CsLiB 6O 10 (CLBO)and Gd xY 1 x Ca 4O(BO 3) 3 (GdYCOB)were developed by the authors group.CLBO is the most effective nonlinear optical crystal to generate high power fourth and fifth harmonics of Nd∶YAG laser.GdYCOB is the first material which can achieve noncritical phase matching (NCPM) condition for THG of Nd∶YAG laser.The NCPM condition is advantageous owing to its large angular acceptance and the elimination of walk off between fundamental and harmonic lights.On the other hand,reliability is very importmat for actual application of these crystals.Here,we will present about techniques to improve durability of NLO crystals for high power UV light generation.For instance,we found that removal of surface polishing compound by means of ion beam etching can imrpove surface durability of CLBO.Also,we will discussed about photo induced damages in GdYCOB and its solution. 展开更多

In this paper,ferroelectric tetragonal tungsten bronze type potassium lithium niobate(KLN)crystal with a size of 20mm×8mm×43mm was grown from a melt with a composition of 32mol% K 2CO 3,24mol% Li 2CO 3 and 44mol% Nb 2O 5 by the top seeded solution growth (TSSG)method.The KLN crystal as grown along [110]axis has a perfect crystal melt interface dominated by {110} and {210} facets.Lattice constants were measured by X ray diffraction (XRD) analysis performed on {001}and {110}natural faces of single crystal samples.The anisotropic thermal expansion behavior of the crystal was also studied along [001] and [110] axes,respectively by using a Shimadzu TMA 50 thermomechnical analyzer.For the purpose of crystal poling,the dependence of crystal capacitance vs.temperature in both heating and cooling cycles was measured and the ferroelectric Curie temperature was determined to be 514℃.The crystal was poled at 506℃ with a dc field of about 250 V/cm along the c axis of the sample,for a time corresponding to about 1.5 h/cm.The blue second harmonic generation (SHG)characteristics of the KLN crystal were investigated by using a 3900s Ti∶sapphire CW tunable laser.Blue laser light at wavelength 432nm was obtained by the non critical phase matching (NCPM)SHG at room temperature.Based on the wavelength and temperature tuning curves for the NCPM SHG,the wavelength acceptance and temperature acceptance of this KLN crystal were measured.The crystal property homogeneity along the <110>growth axis was also studied by measuring the room temperature NCPM wavelength at different growth positions. 展开更多
