According to the engineering features of tapered high pier in mountainous area, a vibration calculation model was set up considering the tapered pier characteristics and pile-soil interaction. Based on Southwell frequency composition theory, it consists of elastic deformation of bridge pier and the rigid deformation of group piles, which are respectively solved by the finite-element method and energy method, and then the natural frequency is derived. The comparison between the measured and calculated results shows that the calculation errors with and without considering pile-soil interaction are 4.9% and 14.7%, respectively. Additionally, the main parameters (pier height, section variation coefficient and lateral foundation horizontal proportional coefficient) affecting natural frequency were investigated. The result shows that natural frequency ascends with the increase of the lateral foundation horizontal proportional coefficient; and it is quite necessary to consider the pile-soil interaction in natural frequency calculation of tapered high pier.展开更多

Then, it is important to find the assembling of the optimal design variables, which satisfy the stiffimss and rotational speed required to the spindle. A general full factorial design method was used to verify some factors that affect the natural frequency of a spindle. It is verified that the shorter shaft length and bearing span length represent the higher natural frequency, and there are some effects according to the change in the levels of factors. The detailed spindle dimension is determined by applying an EVD method, which can define the optimal bearing position through considering the limiting condition. Based on the estimated regression model, the optimal spindle size and bearing distance that can improve the primary natural frequency are obtained, and the influence of design factors on the natural frequency is also analyzed.展开更多

The dynamic tests of an eight-storey reinforced concrete frame structure during full-scaled stages of the sixth storey construction cycle were carried out by ambient vibration. Natural frequencies, corresponding mode shapes and damping ratio were determined by power spectrum processing the tested signal data in frequency domain. The changes of frequencies, mode shapes and damping ratios at different construction stages were given. The results show that natural frequencies and modal damping ratios reach the maximum at stage of casting fresh concrete, especially for higher modes. Modal damping ratios at each construction stage are less than 5% of those during usage.展开更多

SRSM integrates the advantages of support vector machine(SVM) and traditional response surface method(RSM), and utilizes experimental samples to construct a suitable response surface function(RSF) to replace the complicated and abstract finite element model. Moreover, the randomness of material parameters, structural dimension and operating condition are considered during extracting data so that the response surface function is more agreeable to the practical model. The results indicate that based on the same experimental data, SRSM has come closer than RSM reliability to approximating Monte Carlo method(MCM); while SRSM(17.296 s) needs far less running time than MCM(10958 s) and RSM(9840 s). The results indicate that both drum level and drum length have functional relations with period of drum level wave action and sloshing.
