Fermentation substrates of rice with different milling degrees(MDs) were prepared and fermented with human feces to compare their fermentation properties and effects on gut microbiota.MD 0s,MD 5s and MD 60s represented brown rice,moderately-milled rice and white rice, respectively. After in vitro fermentation, the MD 5s group showed higher starch utilization, compared with the MD 0s and 60s groups evaluated by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, and confocal laser scanning microscope.Effects of fermentation substrates of rice with different MDs on gut microbiota were evaluated by 16S rDNA sequencing. All the sample groups reduced the pH and produced short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs) and branched-chain fatty acids. The MD 5s group exhibited higher α-diversity than the MD 0s and 60s groups.Abundances of Phascolarctobacterium,Blautia and norank_f_Ruminococcaceae were higher in the MD 0s and 5s groups, compared with the MD 60s group. These bacteria were also positively correlated with the SCFAs production via Spearman correlation analysis. In vitro culture assay revealed that fermentation substrates of MD 0s and 5s promoted the growth of two probiotics(Akkermansia muciniphila and Bifidobacterium adolescentis). Our results showed that moderate milling might be an appropriate way to produce rice products with richer nutrients and better fermentation properties. 展开更多

Mature wheat kernels contain three main parts:endosperm, bran, and germ.Flour milling results in multiple streams that are chemically different;however, the distribution of antioxidants and phenolic compounds has not been well documented in terms of conventional milling by-product streams. In this study, multiple analytical methods were used to investigate antioxidant activity and phenolic compound compositions of hard red winter wheat(whole ground wheat),the parts of a wheat kernel(bran, flour, germ),and wheat by-product streams(mill feed, red dog, shorts)for the first time. For each mill stream, phenolic compounds(total, flavonoid, and anthocyanin contents)were determined and antioxidant activities were evaluated with 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)radical-scavenging activity, ferric reducing/antioxidant power(FRAP),and total antioxidant capacity assays.Significant differences(P<0.05)were observed in phenolic concentrations among fractions of bran, flour, and germ milled from the same kernels and noted that germ accounts for the majority of antioxidant properties, whereas bran contains a substantial portion of phenolic compounds and anthocyanins.Mill feed was high in phenolic content(5.29 mg FAE/g),total antioxidant capacity(866 mg/g),and antioxidant activity(up to 75% DPPH inhibition and 20.26μmol FeSO_(4)/g).The comprehensive information on distribution of antioxidants and phenolic compounds provides insights for future human consumption of commonly produced co-products from flour milling, and for selecting and using different milling fractions to make foods with improved nutritional properties. 展开更多

A computer aided measurement system is used to measure the cutting temperature directly in high-speed machining by natural thermocouples and standard thermocouples. In this system the tool/workpiece interface temperature is measured by the tool/workpiece natural thermocouple, while the temperature distribution on the workpiece surface and that of interior are measured by some standard thermocouples prearranged at proper positions. The system can be used to measure cutting temperature in the machining with the rotary cutting tools, such as vertical drill and end milling cutter. Considering the self-excited and forced vibrations in high-speed milling processes, a novel method for dynamic optimization of system stability is used to determine the cutting parameters and structural parameters by increasing the chatter free material removal rate (CF-MRR) and surface finish. The method is hased on the theory of the chatter stability and the semi-bandwidth of the resonant region. The objective function of the method is material removal rate(MRR),the constraints are chatter stability and surface finish, and the optimizing variables are cutting and structural parameters. The optimization procedure is stated. The method is applied to a milling system and CF-MRR is increased 18.86%. It is shown that the influences of the chatter stability and the resonance are simultaneously considered in the dynamic optimization of the milling system for increasing CF-MRR and the surface finish. 展开更多

The primary problem is that the miller wear is very rapid and makes the miller break or rapture. Although cutting fluid is mainly used to reduce friction and temperature in cutting area to enhance tool life, it is the largest source of environmental pollution. To develop a technology for the clean and efficient milling Ti alloys, nitrogen gas is used as a cutting media in this paper. Based on lots of experiments and researches, the tool life and wear mechanism of high speed steel miller is analyzed. A conclusion is drawn that, milling with nitrogen gas media yields much longer tool life than dry milling. Tool life equations (Taylor′s equations) are derived for both milling types. 展开更多

An integrated dynamic model considering the influence of the helix angle is developed through dividing the cutting process into three cutting processes: uninterrupted, entry, and exit cutting processes. The semi-discretized technique is used to approximate the finite dimensional Floquet transition matrix of the dynamic control equation to determine the stability of milling process. The stability charts for helix mills are obtained. Results show that the helix angle plays an important role in the stability of milling process. The stability regions with helix angle become larger than those without helix angle. Some "islands" are presented in the stability charts, and "island" locations are determined by the relation between the axial depth of cut and the helix pitch. The "islands" are connected by the "bridge" by the effects of entry and exit cutting processes. The theoretical results are validated by milling experiments. 展开更多

Machining-features of the workplace are described by using of the object-oriented (O-O) technology. Geometrical machining-features are recognized in the given cut region by using the maximum membership priciple about the fuzzy set. Depending on the IF-THEN rule and the fuzzy matching method, the rough information of the machining-process for high-speed milling (HSM) is extracted based on the database of machining-process for HSM. The optimization model of machining-process scheme is established to obtain shorter cut time, lower cost or higher surface quality. It is helpful to form successful cases for HSM. Powder mixtures of Zn, NiO, and Fe2O3 are mechanically alloyed by high energy ball milling to produce Ni-Zn ferrite with a nominal composition of Ni0.36Zn0.64Fe2O4. The effects of milling atmospheres (argon, air, and oxygen), milling time (from 0 to 30 h) and heat treatment are studied. The products are characterized using x-ray diffractometry, field emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, and transmitted electron microscopy. The results indicate that the desired ferrite is not produced during the milling in the samples milled under either air or oxygen atmospheres. In those samples milled under argon, however, Zn/NiO/Fe2O3 reacts with a solid-state diffusion mode to produce Ni-Zn ferrite nanocrystalline in a size of 8 nm after 30-h-milling. The average crystallite sizes decrease to 9 nm and 10 nm in 30-h-milling samples under air and oxygen atmospheres, respectively. Annealing the 30-h-milling samples at 600℃ for 2 h leads to the formation of a single phase of Ni-Zn ferrite, an increase of crystallite size, and a reduction of internal lattice strain. Finally, the effects of the milling atmosphere and heating temperature on the magnetic properties of the 30-h-milling samples are investigated. 展开更多

However, the inherent bottlenecks, such as the low explosion of active sites, limit the application of bulk TMOs catalyst. In this study, V_(2)O_(5) nanoparticles with oxygen vacancies were prepared in large-scale via facile ball milling strategy with adding oxalic acid as a reducing agent. The as-prepared catalysts exhibit remarkable sulfur removal for oils with different initial S-concentrations and different substrates. Sulfur removal could reach up to 99.7%(< 2 ppm) under the optimized reaction conditions. This work provides a feasible desulfurization strategy for fuel oils. 展开更多

Carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide matrix(Cf/SiC)composites have the most potential application for high-temperature components of aerospace high-end equipment. However, high cutting temperature, rapid tool wear and severe surface damages are the main problems in dry cutting Cf/SiC composites process. The feasibility study on cryogenic milling of Cf/SiC composites using liquid nitrogen as coolant is investigated.Influences of milling parameters and coolant on temperature, cutting force, surface quality and tool wear are investigated, which is compared with dry cutting.Experimental results reveal that the cutting temperature in cryogenic milling of Cf/SiC composites is reduced by about 40%—60%compared with dry cutting. The milling force increases gradually with the increase of spindle speed, feed rate, depth and width of milling in cryogenic milling process. In addition, the machined surface quality in cryogenic milling is superior to that in dry cutting process.Fiber fracture, matrix damage and fiber matrix debonding are main material removal mechanisms.Flank face wear is the main wear form of the polycrystalline diamond(PCD)end mills. The tool life is prolonged in the cryogenic milling process because the reduced temperature inhibits the softening of Co binder and phase transition of diamond in the PCD end mills. 展开更多

To achieve the secondary production in multistage fracturing wells of tight oil, milling tools are usually used to remove the multistage fracturing ball seats to achieve production with a large diameter in later. In this paper, first of all,the working mechanism of milling tools for multistage fracturing ball seats was studied and a mechanical analysis model of single abrasive grain was established. Then,an experimental system for milling tools was developed, and the experimental tests of the flat, the blade, and the slope milling tool were conducted in order.Besides, the morphology of chips and the surface morphology of the workpiece after the experiment were analyzed. Also, the working performance of milling tools was evaluated from the perspectives of working safety, working efficiency, and wear resistance of the milling tool. The results show that the torque of the milling tool increases nonlinearly with the increase in the cutting depth of the abrasive grain and increases linearly with the increase in the cutting width. Also, the chips are irregular particles and the size is mainly from 10 to 50μm.So,the chips should be pumped up with a small pump pressure and a large displacement.Besides this, the cutting depths of the abrasive grains are from 216.20 to 635.47μm and the bottom surface of the milling tool should be eccentric to avoid the zero point of cutting speed.Furthermore, the torque of the slope milling tool is 23.8%larger than that of the flat milling tool, which is also 30.4%smaller than that of the blade milling tool.Compared with the flat milling tool, the working efficiency of the blade milling tool improves by 79.9%and the slope milling tool improves by 111.1%.Also,the wear resistance of the blade milling tool decreases by 102.7%,while the slope milling tool declines by 32.6%when compared with the flat milling tool. Therefore, the slope milling tool has the characteristics of moderate torque, stable working conditions, the highest working efficiency, and fine wear resistance, which is preferably used to mill multistage fracturing ball seats. This study provides a theoretical basis and guidance for milling multistage fracturing ball seats on-site and realizing production with a large diameter in later stages of multistage fracturing wells. 展开更多

In laser milling assisted with jet electrochemical machining(LMAJECM),the source of energy is a pulsed laser beam aligned coaxially with a jet of electrolyte, which focuses optical energy on the surface of workpiece. The impact of jet of electrolyte develops a state-of-art work to perform operations such as electrolytic etching, effective cooling, and transportation of debris. Therefore,a special jet cell is designed to obtain stable jet as to be a kind of noncontact tool,i.e.,electrode.According to the theoretical model of on-off pulse time process, laser machining and electrolytic anodization are simulated by finite element analysis(FEA)method.Grooves on a 0.5mm thick 321 stainless steel sheet produced by LMAJECM is performed with pulsed Nd:YAG laser at the second harmonic wavelength.Compared with laser milling under ambient atmosphere conditions, the recast layer and burrs are effectively diminished. And the accuracy of depth is dedicated to laser milling, whilst that of width is dominated by jet electrochemical machining. It is demonstrated that LMAJECM can be a highly potential approach for fabricating 3-D micro components. 展开更多

The effects of milling parameters on the surface quality, microstructures and mechanical properties of machined parts with ultrafine grained(UFG)gradient microstructures are investigated. The effects of the cutting speed, feed per tooth, cutting tool geometry and cooling strategy are demonstrated. It has been found that the surface quality of machined grooves can be improved by increasing the cutting speed. However, cryogenic cooling with CO_2 exhibits no significant improvement of surface quality.Microstructure and hardness investigations revealed similar microstructure and hardness variations near the machined groove walls for both utilized tool geometries. Therefore, cryogenic cooling can decrease more far-ranging hardness reductions due to high process temperatures, especially in the UFG regions of the machined parts, whilst it cannot prevent the drop in hardness directly at the groove walls. 展开更多

The aramid fiber-reinforced composites(AFRC)can increase the durability of corresponding applications such as aerospace, automobile and other large structural parts, due to the improvement in hardness, heat build-up,wear properties and green environmental protection. However, because of its complex multiphase structure and unique heterogeneity and anisotropy, the poor compression fatigue resistance and the incident surface fibrillation are inevitable. To improve the assembly precision of AFRC,mechanical processing is necessary to meet the dimensional accuracy. This paper focuses on the influence of contour milling parameters on delamination defects during milling of AFRC laminates.A series of milling experiments are conducted and two different kinds of delamination defects including tearing delamination and uncut-off delamination are investigated.A computing method and model based on brittle fracture for the two different types of delamination are established. The results can be used for explaining the mechanism and regularity of delamination defects. The control strategy of delamination defects and evaluation method of finished surface integrity are further discussed. The results are meaningful to optimize cutting parameters, and provide a clear understanding of surface defects control. 展开更多
