Furthermore, the knowledge based multifaceted modeling methodology for open complex giant systems is emphatically studied. The major points are as follows: (1) nonlinear mechanism and general information partition law; (2) from the symmetry and similarity to the acquisition of construction knowledge; (3) structures for hierarchical and nonhierarchical organizations; (4) the integration of manifold knowledge models; (5) the methodology of knowledge based multifaceted modeling.展开更多

Starting with the construct of a social organization model driven by anticipationand thed differentiating this into pesonal scientists with diverse relations to people and their internal andexternal communication, it provides powerful and general model of society. people, and the roles of peoplein society. This model extends naturally ic the role of conventional media in the knowledge processes ofsociety and the new roles of computer-based simulation and expert systems. In particular it provides amodel of knowledge transfer that enables the processes of knowledge engineering to be analyzed andautomated.展开更多

For overcoming the shortcomings of previous gate assignmentapproaches, this paper presents a partial parallel gate assignment approach, by which more factorsconcerning aircraft and gates can be collsidered at the same time. This paper also presents themethod of using a knowledge-based system combined with a mathematical programming method forgetting an optimized feasible assignment solution. By this way, it is more easily to get the solutionthat satisfies both the static and dynamic situations, and thus it may adapt well to meet the needsof actual use to rea-time operations. An experimental prototype has been implemented, and a casestudy is presented at the end of the paper.展开更多

The system is designed to study China's mid-range economic development strategy. The capacity of the system is enhanced by the knowledge-based component which provides a knowledge-based simulation environment for model management. Currently the system has passed the stage of prototype and achieves its implementation capacity. The paper first presents the mathematical aspects of decision making including aspiration-directed decision making, then discusses the architecture of the system. The purpose of the paper is to provide insights into how such an integrated system could provide decision support for complex decision analysis.展开更多

A problemsolving strategy is presented in which decision-support and knowledge-based techniques play complementary roles. An approach to the representation of knowledge to support the problem-solving strategy is presented which avoids commitment to a specific programming language or implementation environment. The problem of choosing a home is used to illustrate the representation of knowledge in a specific problem domain. Techniques for implementation of the problem-solving strategy are described. Knowledge elicitation techniques and their implementation in a development shell for application of the problem-solving strategy to any selection problem are also described.展开更多

The NY-IEDSS is designed for mid-term development strategic study of the Nanyang Region in Henan, China, and is getting beyond its prototype stage under the decision maker's (the end user) orientation. The integration of simulation model system, decision analysis and expert system for decision support in the system implementation was reviewed. The intent of the paper is to provide insight as to how system capability and acceptability can be enhanced by this integration. Moreover, emphasis is placed on problem orientation in applying the method.展开更多

This paper is aimed at designing a multiple expert systems integrated decision support system (MESIDSS) to enhance decision makers' ability in more complex cases. The basic framework, management system of multiple ESs, and functions of MESIDSS are presented. The applications of MESIDSS in large-scale decision making processes are discussed from the following aspects of problem decomposing, dynamic combination of multiple ESs, link of multiple bases and decision coordinating. Finally, a summary and some ideas for the future are presented.展开更多

It begins with a discussion of knowledge-based support for design and is followed by a scenario account of the use of a Knowledge Support System. A system is described that demonstrates interaction with different forms of knowledge in concept vehicle design. It supports the creation of new designs by way of a solution generation and evaluation process that relies upon co-operation between the designer and the knowledge system. The results of user evaluation gave rise to a current research agenda which addresses the requirements of a multi-user platform for a design knowledge support environment for collaborative team work.展开更多
