We introduce our state-of-the art of“vacuum consistent electrochemistry”to an investigation of the interfaces between oxides and ionic liquid(IL).Pulsed laser deposition(PLD)has been one of the powerful and sophisticated techniques to realize nanoscale preparation of high-quality epitaxial oxide thin films.On the other hand,electrochemistry is a simple,very sensitive,and non-destructive analysis technique for solid-liquid interfaces.To ensure the reproducibility in experiment of the interfaces of such epitaxial oxide films,as well as bulk oxide single-crystals,with IL,we employ a home-built PLD-electrochemical(EC)system with IL as an electrolyte.The system allows one to perform all-in-vacuum experiments during the preparation of well-defined oxide electrode surfaces to their electrochemical analyses.The topics include electrochemical evaluations of the oxide’s own properties,such as carrier density and relative permittivity,and the interfacial properties of oxides in contact with IL,such as flat band potential and electric double layer(EDL)capacitance,ending with future perspectives in all-solid-state electrochemistry. 展开更多

Cancer metastasis is the leading cause of death in cancer patients worldwide and one of the major challenges in treating cancer.Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)play a pivotal role in cancer metastasis.However,the content of CTCs in peripheral blood is minimal,so the detection of CTCs in real samples is extremely challenging.Therefore,efficient enrichment and early detection of CTCs are essential to achieve timely diagnosis of diseases.In this work,we constructed an innovative and sensitive single-nanoparticle collision electrochemistry(SNCE)biosensor for the detection of MCF-7 cells(human breast cancer cells)by immunomagnetic separation technique and liposome signal amplification strategy.Liposomes embedded with platinum nanoparticles(Pt NPs)were used as signal probes,and homemade gold ultramicroelectrodes(Au UME)were used as the working electrodes.The effective collision between Pt NPs and UME would produce distinguishable step-type current.MCF-7 cells were accurately quantified according to the relationship between cell concentration and collision frequency(the number of step-type currents generated per unit time),realizing highly sensitive and specific detection of MCF-7 cells.The SNCE biosensor has a linear range of 10 cells·mL^(-1)to 10^(5) cells·mL^(-1)with a detection limit as low as 5 cells·mL^(-1).In addition,the successful detection of MCF-7 cells in complex samples showed that the SNCE biosensors have great potential for patient sample detection. 展开更多

In the thermodynamics, for flotation separation of the SbAs bulk concentrate system there is no potential extent using butyl xanthate as collector. However in the kinetics, there exists 150 mV in reducing potential of butyl dixanthogen on the surface of stibnite and arsenopyrite. In this paper, their reducing kinetic difference of electrochemistry was confirmed by pure mineral flotation under controlled potential, the artificial SbAs bulk concentrate flotation separation and UVspectrophotometic analysis. The electrochemical separation of SbAs bulk concentrate has been carried out. qualified concentrate has been obtained. Sbconcentrate contains Sb 4944 %, As 044 %, Sbrecovery is 8783 % and Asconcentrate contains As 1096 %, Asrecovery is 9466 %. 展开更多

Every peak in voltammograms was identified through thermodynamic calculation. The results show an irreversible electrode process by the strong adsorption of oxidation elemental sulfur on jamesonite. A deficient-metal and sulfur-rich compound is formed under the potential of 80 mV at pH 6.86. The passive action by elemental sulfur occurs from 80 to 470 mV and S2O2-3, SO2-4 are produced at potential over 470 mV. The anodic peak producing SO2-4 is inhibited due to the deposition of PbSO4 at higher potential in Na2SO4 solution. The corrosive action of jamesonite becomes strong and the redox characterization similar to PbS, FeS and Sb2S3 appears at pH 9.18. 展开更多

Single-entity collisional electrochemistry(SECE)is a branch of single-entity electrochemistry.It can directly characterize entities/particles with single particle resolution through random collisions between particles and electrodes in a solution,and obtain rich physicochemical information,thus becoming one of the frontiers of electroanalytical chemistry in the past two decades.Interestingly,the(micro/nanoscale)sensing electrodes have evolved from a polarizable liquid/liquid(mercury/liquid)interface to a solid/liquid interface and then to a liquid/liquid interface(i.e.,an interface between twoimmiscible electrolyte solutions,ITIES),as if they have completed a cycle(but in fact they have not).ITIES has become the latest sensing electrode in the booming SECE due to its polarizability(up to 1.1 V at the water/a,a,a-trifluorotoluene interface)and high reproducibility.The four measurement modes(direct electrolysis,mediated electrolysis,current blockade,and charge displacement)developed in the realm of SECE at solid/liquid interfaces have also been fully realized at the miniature ITIES.This article will discuss these four modes at the ITIES from the perspectives of basic concepts,operating mechanisms,and latest developments(e.g.,discovery of ionosomes,blockade effect of Faradaic ion transfer,etc.),and look forward to the future development and direction of this emerging field. 展开更多

Petroleum asphalt,an important by-product of the petrochemical industry,has diverse applications but often suffers from low industrial added value.Because of its low cost,high carbon content,and high polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon content,appropriate modification can increase its value and expand its energy storage applications.Current research progress on the common preparation methods of petroleum asphalt-based carbon materials,including template-assisted pyrolysis,molten salt treatment,activation,heteroatom doping,and pre-oxidation is reviewed,and its use in supercapacitors and alkali metal ion batteries,is also elaborated.Feasible solutions for the current problems with petroleum asphalt are proposed,with the aim of providing insights into its high value-added utilization. 展开更多

The bioleaching of chalcopyrite was investigated using a pure and mixed culture consisting of iron-oxidizing Leptospirillum ferriphilum (L. ferriphilum) and sulfur-oxidizing Acidthiobacillus thiooxidans (.4. thiooxidans). The electrochemical tests were conducted to investigate the bioleaching behavior of chalcopyrite by various bacteria. Bioleaching efficiency of chalcopyrite in mixed culture is higher than that in the pure culture of L.ferriphilum alone. The iron-oxidizing L.ferriphilum plays a dominant role during bioleaching of chalcopyrite in the mixed culture of L. ferriphilum and A. thiooxidans. During bioleaching, certain values of redox potential are beneficial to the decomposition of chalcopyrite. Jarosite and sulfur are observed as products of bioleaching. The addition of A. thiooxidans during leaching by L. ferriphilum can change the electrochemical control steps of leaching. The corrosion current density is substantially promoted in the culture involving bacteria, especially in the mixed culture. 展开更多

Developing high-performance lithium ion batteries(LIBs)using manganese oxides as anodes is attractive due to their high theoretical capacity and abundant resources.Herein,we report a facile synthesis of hierarchical spherical MnO2 containing coherent amorphous/crystalline domained by a simple yet effective redox precipitation reaction at room temperature.Further,flower-like CoMn2O4 constructed by single-crystalline spinel nanosheets has been fabricated using MnO2 as precursor.This mild methodology avoids undesired particle aggregation and loss of active surface area in conventional hydrothermal or solid-state processes.Moreover,both MnO2 and CoMn2O4 nanosheets manifest superior lithium-ion storage properties,rendering them promising applications in LIBs and other energy-related fields. 展开更多

Fiber metal laminates(FMLs),a kind of lightweight material with excellent comprehensive performance,have been successfully applied in aerospace.FMLs reinforced with carbon fiber have better mechanical properties than those with glass or aramid fiber.However,carbon fiber binding metal may lead to galvanic corrosion which limits its application.In this paper,electrochemical methods,optical microscope and scanning electron microscope were used to analyze the corrosion evolution of carbon fiber reinforced aluminum laminate(CARALL)in corrosive environment and explore anti-corrosion ways to protect CARALL.The results show that the connection between carbon fiber and aluminum alloy changes electric potential,causing galvanic corrosion.The galvanic corrosion will obviously accelerate CARALL corroded in solution,leading to a 72.1%decrease in interlaminar shear strength,and the crevice corrosion has a greater impact on CARALL resulting in delamination.The reduction of interlaminar shear strength has a similar linear relationship with the corrosion time.In addition,the adhesive layers between carbon fiber and aluminum alloy cannot protect CARALL,while side edge protection can effectively slow down corrosion rate.Therefore,the exposed edges should be coated with anti-corrosion painting.CARALL has the potential to be used for aerospace components. 展开更多

The electrode process of pyrite in diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) solution pH 11.4 was investigated by using cyclic voltammetry, potentiost atic and chronopotentiometry. Tetraethylthioram disulphide(TETD) was electrodepo sited on pyrite electrode surface as the electrode potential is higher than 0.2 V. The relationship of the current density caused by diffusion and reaction time can be ascertained as i =1/(9.08×10 -5 +4.77×10 -3 t 0.5 ) , and the diffusion coefficient of DDTC on pyrite surface is about 3.72×10 - 6 cm 2/s. At pH 11.4, the thickness of TETD adsorbed on pyr ite surface is about 1.63 molecule layer. The electrochemical dynamics equation of the reduction of TETD on pyrite surface is given as η =0.116-0.064log[1- ( t/τ ) 0.5 ]. The kinetic parameters were determined as follows: the ex change current density ( i 0) is 3.08 μA/cm 2; the transmission coeffi cient( α ) is 0.462. 展开更多

Mg-6%Al-5%Pb(mass fraction) anodes with different contents of zinc were prepared by melting and casting.The electrochemical discharge behavior of these anodes in 3.5% NaCl solutions was investigated by galvanostatic test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).The microstructures and the corroded surfaces of these anodes were studied by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and emission spectrum analysis(ESA).The phase structures and the corrosion products of the anodes were analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results show that zinc promotes the grain refinement of Mg-6%Al-5%Pb anode and makes the average discharge potential of Mg-6%Al-5%Pb anode more negative during galvanostatic test.Mg-6%Al-5%Pb anode with the addition of 1%(mass fraction) zinc has the best electrochemical performance.The activation mechanism of zinc to Mg-6%Al-5%Pb anode is as follows:The hydrolyzation of dissolved Zn2+ ions reduces the pH value of the solution near the surface of the anode and accelerates the dissolution of Mg(OH)2 film;The precipitated Zn(OH)2 with similar structure as Mg(OH)2 combines with Mg(OH)2 film easily and makes it break down. 展开更多

Chalcopyrite dissolution was evaluated by bioleaching and electrochemical experiments with thermophile A. manzaensis(Acidianus manzaensis) and mesophile L. ferriphilum(Leptospirillum ferriphium) cultures at 65 ℃ and 40 ℃, respectively. It was investigated that the bioleaching of chalcopyrite was stepwise. It was reduced to Cu2 S at a lower redox potential locating in the whole bioleaching process by A. manzaensis at high temperature while only at initial days of bioleaching by L. ferriphilum at a relative low temperature. No reduced product was detected when the redox potential was beyond a high level(e.g., 550 m V(vs SCE)) bioleached by L. ferriphilum. Chalcopyrite bioleaching efficiency was substantially improved bioleached by A. manaensis compared to that by L. ferriphilum, which was mainly attributed to the reduction reaction occurring during bioleaching. The reductive intermediate Cu2 S was more amenable to oxidation than chalcopyrite, causing enhanced copper extraction. 展开更多

The corrosion behavior of tinplate cans containing coffee was investigated using novel electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and electrochemical noise(EN) sensors.The contents of iron and tin dissolved in cans were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer(ICP-MS),and the morphology of corroded surface was observed by optical microscopy and scanning probe microscopy(SPM).The results reveal that the coating resistance,charge transfer resistance and noise resistance decrease with the prolongation of storage time.The iron and tin contents in cans increase with the storage time,while the bump height of coating surface increases from 30 nm to 80 nm during the corrosion of twelve months.The existence of deformation would enhance the corrosion process of tinplate cans.Finally,the corrosion mechanism of tinplate cans in coffee was proposed. 展开更多

In the light of the knowledge gained by the study of electrochemical flotation for galena and selective flotation of galena from lead zinc iron sulfide ores, a technology for accurate potential control based on intrinsic electrochemical behavior in grinding flotation systems has been developed and is called "Original Potential Flotation (OPF)". The optimum conditions for the original potential flotation of galena from Pb Zn Fe sulfide ores are as follows: pH values of 12.5 12.8, potential of 150 180 mV and with diethyldithioncarbamate (DDTC) as collector. Lime is used as a regulator of pH, meanwhile, and can stabilize special potential very well, and this special potential is exactly the flotation potential of galena. This technology has been applied successfully in potential control flotation of galena in many complex lead zinc iron sulfide mines in China. 展开更多
