The blasting test was carried out for ten times at some tunnels of Changba Lead-Zinc Mine. The damage depth of surrounding rock caused by old blasting excavation (0.8-1.2 m) was confirmed. The relation between the cumulative damage degree and blast times was obtained. The results show that the sonic velocity decreases gradually with increasing blast times, hut the damage degree (D) increases. The damage cumulative law is non-linear. The damage degree caused by blast decreases with increasing distance, and damage effects become indistinct. The blasting damage of rock mass is anisotropic. The damage degree of rock mass within charging range is maximal. And the more the charge is, the more severe the damage degree of rock mass is. The test results provide references for researches of mechanical parameters of rock mass and dynamic stability analysis of underground chambers.展开更多

However, this distribution may be unavailable in reality. By relaxing the restrictive assumption, a robust user equilibrium model based on cumulative prospect theory under distribution-free travel time was presented. In the absence of the cumulative distribution function of the travel time, the exact cumulative prospect value(CPV) for each route cannot be obtained. However, the upper and lower bounds on the CPV can be calculated by probability inequalities.Travelers were assumed to choose the routes with the best worst-case CPVs. The proposed model was formulated as a variational inequality problem and solved via a heuristic solution algorithm. A numerical example was also provided to illustrate the application of the proposed model and the efficiency of the solution algorithm.展开更多

To describe traveler’s risk-taking behaviors under uncertainty, the cumulative prospect theory(CPT) is adopted. Travelers are assumed to choose the paths with the minimum perceived generalized path costs, consisting of time prospect value(PV) and monetary cost. At equilibrium with a given TCS, the endogenous reference points and credit price remain constant, and are consistent with the equilibrium flow pattern and the corresponding travel time distributions of road sub-network. To describe such an equilibrium state, the CPT-based stochastic user equilibrium(SUE) conditions can be formulated under TCS. An equivalent variational inequality(VI) model embedding a parameterized fixed point(FP) model is then established, with its properties analyzed theoretically. A heuristic solution algorithm is developed to solve the model, which contains two-layer iterations. The outer iteration is a bisection-based contraction method to find the equilibrium credit price, and the inner iteration is essentially the method of successive averages(MSA) to determine the corresponding CPT-based SUE network flow pattern. Numerical experiments are provided to validate the model and algorithm.展开更多

The SPE is conditionally dependent on the actual travel time distribution, which is different from the deterministic perception error used in the traditional logit-based stochastic user equilibrium. The CPT-UE model is formulated as a variational inequality problem and solved by a heuristic solution algorithm. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the application of the proposed model and efficiency of the solution algorithm. Liquid-filled containers(LFC)are widely used to store and transport petroleum,chemical reagents,and other resources.As an important target of military strikes and terrorist bombings,LFC are vulnerable to blast waves a...Liquid-filled containers(LFC)are widely used to store and transport petroleum,chemical reagents,and other resources.As an important target of military strikes and terrorist bombings,LFC are vulnerable to blast waves and fragments.To explore the protective effect of polyurea elastomer on LFC,the damage characteristics of polyurea coated liquid-filled container(PLFC)under the combined loading of blast shock wave and fragments were studied experimentally.The microstructure of the polyurea layer was observed by scanning electron microscopy,and the fracture and self-healing phenomena were analyzed.The simulation approach was used to explain the combined blast-and fragments-induced on the PLFC in detail.Finally,the effects of shock wave and fragment alone and in combination on the damage of PLFC were comprehensively compared.Results showed that the polyurea reduces the perforation rate of the fragment to the LFC,and the self-healing phenomenon could also reduce the liquid loss rate inside the container.The polyurea reduces the degree of depression in the center of the LFC,resulting in a decrease in the distance between adjacent fragments penetrating the LFC,and an increase in the probability of transfixion and fracture between holes.Under the close-in blast,the detonation shock wave reached the LFC before the fragment.Polyurea does not all have an enhanced effect on the protection of LFC.The presence of internal water enhances the anti-blast performance of the container,and the hydrodynamic ram(HRAM)formed by the fragment impacting the water aggravated the plastic deformation of the container.The combined action has an enhancement effect on the deformation of the LFC.The depth of the container depression was 27%higher than that of the blast shock wave alone;thus,it cannot be simply summarized as linear superposition.展开更多
A typical Whipple shield consists of double-layered plates with a certain gap.The space debris impacts the outer plate and is broken into a debris cloud(shattered,molten,vaporized)with dispersed energy and momentum,wh...A typical Whipple shield consists of double-layered plates with a certain gap.The space debris impacts the outer plate and is broken into a debris cloud(shattered,molten,vaporized)with dispersed energy and momentum,which reduces the risk of penetrating the bulkhead.In the realm of hypervelocity impact,strain rate(>10^(5)s^(-1))effects are negligible,and fluid dynamics is employed to describe the impact process.Efficient numerical tools for precisely predicting the damage degree can greatly accelerate the design and optimization of advanced protective structures.Current hypervelocity impact research primarily focuses on the interaction between projectile and front plate and the movement of debris cloud.However,the damage mechanism of debris cloud impacts on rear plates-the critical threat component-remains underexplored owing to complex multi-physics processes and prohibitive computational costs.Existing approaches,ranging from semi-empirical equations to a machine learningbased ballistic limit prediction method,are constrained to binary penetration classification.Alternatively,the uneven data from experiments and simulations caused these methods to be ineffective when the projectile has irregular shapes and complicate flight attitude.Therefore,it is urgent to develop a new damage prediction method for predicting the rear plate damage,which can help to gain a deeper understanding of the damage mechanism.In this study,a machine learning(ML)method is developed to predict the damage distribution in the rear plate.Based on the unit velocity space,the discretized information of debris cloud and rear plate damage from rare simulation cases is used as input data for training the ML models,while the generalization ability for damage distribution prediction is tested by other simulation cases with different attack angles.The results demonstrate that the training and prediction accuracies using the Random Forest(RF)algorithm significantly surpass those using Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs)and Support Vector Machine(SVM).The RF-based model effectively identifies damage features in sparsely distributed debris cloud and cumulative effect.This study establishes an expandable new dataset that accommodates additional parameters to improve the prediction accuracy.Results demonstrate the model's ability to overcome data imbalance limitations through debris cloud features,enabling rapid and accurate rear plate damage prediction across wider scenarios with minimal data requirements.展开更多

In many Chinese cities,motorized vehicles (M-vehicles) move slowly at intersections due to the interference of a large number of non-motorized vehicles (NM-vehicles).The slow movement makes a part of M-vehicles fa...In many Chinese cities,motorized vehicles (M-vehicles) move slowly at intersections due to the interference of a large number of non-motorized vehicles (NM-vehicles).The slow movement makes a part of M-vehicles fail to leave intersections timely after the traffic signal tums red,and thereby conflicts between vehicles from two directions occur.The phenomenon was analyzed graphically by using the cumulative vehicle curve.Delays in three cases were modeled and compared:NM-vehicle priorities and M-vehicle priorities with all-red intervals unable to release all vehicles,and longer all-red intervals ensuring release all vehicles.Marginal delays caused by two illegal behaviors that occasionally happened in mixed traffic intersections were also investigated.It is concluded that increasing the speed of M-vehicles leaving intersections and postponing the entering of NM-vehicles are the keys in mathematics,although they are uneasy in disordered mixed traffic intersections due to a dilemma between efficiency and orders in reality.The results could provide implications for the traffic management in the cities maintaining a large number of M-and NM-vehicles.展开更多
Traffic assignment has been recognized as one of the key technologies in supporting transportation planning and operations.To better address the perfectly rational issue of the expected utility theory(EUT)and the over...Traffic assignment has been recognized as one of the key technologies in supporting transportation planning and operations.To better address the perfectly rational issue of the expected utility theory(EUT)and the overlapping path issue of the multinomial logit(MNL)model that are involved in the traffic assignment process,this paper proposes a cumulative prospect value(CPV)-based generalized nested logit(GNL)stochastic user equilibrium(SUE)model.The proposed model uses CPV to replace the utility value as the path performance within the GNL model framework.An equivalent mathematical model is provided for the proposed CPV-based GNL SUE model,which is solved by the method of successive averages(MSA).The existence and equivalence of the solution are also proved for the equivalent model.To demonstrate the performance of the proposed CPV-based GNL SUE model,three road networks are selected in the empirical test.The results show that the proposed model can jointly deal with the perfectly rational issue and the overlapping path issue,and additionally,the proposed model is shown to be applicable for large road networks.展开更多

First, it is deduced that the optimal WFRFT received order can be obtained through the minimization of 4 th-order cumulants, C_(42). Then, a combinatorial searching algorithm is designed to minimize C_(42).Finally, simulation results show that the designed scheme has a high recognition rate and the combinatorial searching algorithm is effective and reliable.展开更多

The general higher-order statistics may not be easily applied in signal processing with too complex computation. Based on the fourth-order cumulant with 1-D slices and adaptive filters, an efficient algorithm is proposed to solve the problem and is extended for nonstationary stochastic processes. In order to achieve the accurate parameter estimation of direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signals, the fast step uses the modified fourth-order cumulant to reduce the computing complexity. While the second step employs an adaptive recursive system to estimate the power spectrum in the frequency domain. In the case of intercepted signals without large enough data samples, the estimator provides good performance in parameter estimation and white Gaussian noise suppression. Computer simulations are included to corroborate the theoretical development with different signal-to-noise ratio conditions and recursive coefficients.展开更多

Meanwhile, the circular scanning synthetic aperture radar(SAR) has been applied to wide surveillance of the sea surface.Therefore, the paper analyzes the validity of available sea clutter models for range Doppler images from different scan angles for moderate sea state in the medium grazing angle. The parameter estimation method for different distribution models employs the method of logarithmic cumulant(MoLC) based on Mellin transform uniformly. By the analysis of the fitting performance between the histogram of real data and the amplitude probability density function(PDF) of empirical distribution models and the goodness-of-fit(GoF) test for real data from different scan angles, it is indicated the generalized K(GK) distribution with generalized Gamma texture distribution can fit the sea clutter well for different scan angles in the medium grazing angle.展开更多

Whether the noises of the input/output of the system are white or colored, the proposed algorithms can be insensitive to these noises and yield unbiased estimates. To realize adaptive parameter estimates, a higher-order cumulant-based recursive least square(HOCRLS) method is also studied. Convergence analysis of the HOCRLS is conducted by using the stochastic process theory and the stochastic martingale theory. It indicates that the parameter estimation error of HOCRLS consistently converges to zero under a generalized persistent excitation condition. The usefulness of the proposed algorithms is assessed through numerical simulations.展开更多

G0 distribution is one of the optimal statistic models in the syn...The accuracy of background clutter model is a key factor which determines the performance of a constant false alarm rate(CFAR) target detection method. G0 distribution is one of the optimal statistic models in the synthetic aperture radar(SAR) image background clutter modeling and can accurately model various complex background clutters in the SAR images. But the application of the distribution is greatly limited by its disadvantages that the parameter estimation is complex and the local detection threshold is difficult to be obtained. In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, an synthetic aperture radar CFAR target detection method using the logarithmic cumulant(Mo LC) + method of moment(Mo M)-based G0 distribution clutter model is proposed. In the method, G0 distribution is used for modeling the background clutters, a new Mo LC+Mo M-based parameter estimation method coupled with a fast iterative algorithm is used for estimating the parameters of G0 distribution and an exquisite dichotomy method is used for obtaining the local detection threshold of CFAR detection, which greatly improves the computational efficiency, detection performance and environmental adaptability of CFAR detection. Experimental results show that the proposed SAR CFAR target detection method has good target detection performance in various complex background clutter environments.展开更多
Compared to the rank reduction estimator (RARE) based on second-order statistics (called SOS-RARE), the RARE employing fourth-order cumulants (referred to as FOC-RARE) is capable of dealing with more sources and...Compared to the rank reduction estimator (RARE) based on second-order statistics (called SOS-RARE), the RARE employing fourth-order cumulants (referred to as FOC-RARE) is capable of dealing with more sources and mitigating the negative influences of the Gaussian colored noise. However, in the presence of unexpected modeling errors, the resolution behavior of the FOC-RARE also deteriorate significantly as SOS-RARE, even for a known array covariance matrix. For this reason, the angle resolution capability of the FOC-RARE was theoretically analyzed. Firstly, the explicit formula for the mathematical expectation of the FOC-RARE spatial spectrum was derived through the second-order perturbation analysis method. Then, with the assumption that the unexpected modeling errors were drawn from complex circular Gaussian distribution, the theoretical formulas for the angle resolution probability of the FOC-RARE were presented. Numerical experiments validate our analytical results and demonstrate that the FOC-RARE has higher robustness to the unexpected modeling en'ors than that of the SOS-RARE from the resolution point of view.展开更多

文摘Liquid-filled containers(LFC)are widely used to store and transport petroleum,chemical reagents,and other resources.As an important target of military strikes and terrorist bombings,LFC are vulnerable to blast waves and fragments.To explore the protective effect of polyurea elastomer on LFC,the damage characteristics of polyurea coated liquid-filled container(PLFC)under the combined loading of blast shock wave and fragments were studied experimentally.The microstructure of the polyurea layer was observed by scanning electron microscopy,and the fracture and self-healing phenomena were analyzed.The simulation approach was used to explain the combined blast-and fragments-induced on the PLFC in detail.Finally,the effects of shock wave and fragment alone and in combination on the damage of PLFC were comprehensively compared.Results showed that the polyurea reduces the perforation rate of the fragment to the LFC,and the self-healing phenomenon could also reduce the liquid loss rate inside the container.The polyurea reduces the degree of depression in the center of the LFC,resulting in a decrease in the distance between adjacent fragments penetrating the LFC,and an increase in the probability of transfixion and fracture between holes.Under the close-in blast,the detonation shock wave reached the LFC before the fragment.Polyurea does not all have an enhanced effect on the protection of LFC.The presence of internal water enhances the anti-blast performance of the container,and the hydrodynamic ram(HRAM)formed by the fragment impacting the water aggravated the plastic deformation of the container.The combined action has an enhancement effect on the deformation of the LFC.The depth of the container depression was 27%higher than that of the blast shock wave alone;thus,it cannot be simply summarized as linear superposition.

文摘A typical Whipple shield consists of double-layered plates with a certain gap.The space debris impacts the outer plate and is broken into a debris cloud(shattered,molten,vaporized)with dispersed energy and momentum,which reduces the risk of penetrating the bulkhead.In the realm of hypervelocity impact,strain rate(>10^(5)s^(-1))effects are negligible,and fluid dynamics is employed to describe the impact process.Efficient numerical tools for precisely predicting the damage degree can greatly accelerate the design and optimization of advanced protective structures.Current hypervelocity impact research primarily focuses on the interaction between projectile and front plate and the movement of debris cloud.However,the damage mechanism of debris cloud impacts on rear plates-the critical threat component-remains underexplored owing to complex multi-physics processes and prohibitive computational costs.Existing approaches,ranging from semi-empirical equations to a machine learningbased ballistic limit prediction method,are constrained to binary penetration classification.Alternatively,the uneven data from experiments and simulations caused these methods to be ineffective when the projectile has irregular shapes and complicate flight attitude.Therefore,it is urgent to develop a new damage prediction method for predicting the rear plate damage,which can help to gain a deeper understanding of the damage mechanism.In this study,a machine learning(ML)method is developed to predict the damage distribution in the rear plate.Based on the unit velocity space,the discretized information of debris cloud and rear plate damage from rare simulation cases is used as input data for training the ML models,while the generalization ability for damage distribution prediction is tested by other simulation cases with different attack angles.The results demonstrate that the training and prediction accuracies using the Random Forest(RF)algorithm significantly surpass those using Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs)and Support Vector Machine(SVM).The RF-based model effectively identifies damage features in sparsely distributed debris cloud and cumulative effect.This study establishes an expandable new dataset that accommodates additional parameters to improve the prediction accuracy.Results demonstrate the model's ability to overcome data imbalance limitations through debris cloud features,enabling rapid and accurate rear plate damage prediction across wider scenarios with minimal data requirements.
文摘针对双基地多输入多输出(multiple-input multiple-output,MIMO)雷达在色噪声环境中的收发角度估计问题,提出了一种基于改进四阶累积量的角度估计算法。该算法首先构造回波信号的四阶累积量矩阵,然后根据四阶累积量矩阵的形成规律,在保证虚拟阵列孔径有效扩展的前提下去除其中的冗余项,达到矩阵降维的目的。最后将降维后的矩阵特征分解得到噪声子空间,再利用四阶累积量的多重信号分类(multiple signal classification,MUSIC)算法实现最终的收发角度估计。所提算法不仅可以有效抑制高斯色噪声,并且能够减小四阶累积量矩阵的维数,降低计算的复杂度,仿真结果验证了该算法的有效性。

文摘In many Chinese cities,motorized vehicles (M-vehicles) move slowly at intersections due to the interference of a large number of non-motorized vehicles (NM-vehicles).The slow movement makes a part of M-vehicles fail to leave intersections timely after the traffic signal tums red,and thereby conflicts between vehicles from two directions occur.The phenomenon was analyzed graphically by using the cumulative vehicle curve.Delays in three cases were modeled and compared:NM-vehicle priorities and M-vehicle priorities with all-red intervals unable to release all vehicles,and longer all-red intervals ensuring release all vehicles.Marginal delays caused by two illegal behaviors that occasionally happened in mixed traffic intersections were also investigated.It is concluded that increasing the speed of M-vehicles leaving intersections and postponing the entering of NM-vehicles are the keys in mathematics,although they are uneasy in disordered mixed traffic intersections due to a dilemma between efficiency and orders in reality.The results could provide implications for the traffic management in the cities maintaining a large number of M-and NM-vehicles.

文摘Traffic assignment has been recognized as one of the key technologies in supporting transportation planning and operations.To better address the perfectly rational issue of the expected utility theory(EUT)and the overlapping path issue of the multinomial logit(MNL)model that are involved in the traffic assignment process,this paper proposes a cumulative prospect value(CPV)-based generalized nested logit(GNL)stochastic user equilibrium(SUE)model.The proposed model uses CPV to replace the utility value as the path performance within the GNL model framework.An equivalent mathematical model is provided for the proposed CPV-based GNL SUE model,which is solved by the method of successive averages(MSA).The existence and equivalence of the solution are also proved for the equivalent model.To demonstrate the performance of the proposed CPV-based GNL SUE model,three road networks are selected in the empirical test.The results show that the proposed model can jointly deal with the perfectly rational issue and the overlapping path issue,and additionally,the proposed model is shown to be applicable for large road networks.

文摘The load balance is a critical issue of distributed Hash table (DHT), and the previous work shows that there exists O(logn) imbalance of load in Chord. The load distribution of Chord, Pastry, and the virtual servers (VS) balancing scheme and deduces the closed form expressions of the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the load in these DHTs is analyzes. The analysis and simulation show that the load of all these DHTs obeys the gamma distribution with similar formed parameters.

文摘A joint estimation algorithm of direction of arrival (DOA), frequency, and polarization, based on fourth-order cumulants and uniform circular array (UCA) of trimmed vector sensors is presented for narrowband non-Gaussian signals. The proposed approach, which is suitable for applications in arbitrary Gaussian noise environments, gives a closed-form representation of the estimated parameters, without spectral peak searching. An efficient method is also provided for elimination of cyclic phase ambiguities. Simulations are presented to show the performance of the algorithm.

文摘A polynomial-rooting based fourth-order cumulant algorithm is presented for direction-of-arrival(DOA) estimation of second-order fully noncircular source signals, using a uniform linear array(ULA). This algorithm inherits all merits of its spectralsearching counterpart except for the applicability to arbitrary array geometry, while reducing considerably the computation cost.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the previously developed closed-form second-order noncircular ESPRIT method, in terms of processing capacity and DOA estimation accuracy, especially in the presence of spatially colored noise.

文摘A hybrid carrier(HC) scheme based on weighted-type fractional Fourier transform(WFRFT) has been proposed recently.While most of the works focus on HC scheme's inherent characteristics, little attention is paid to the WFRFT modulation recognition.In this paper, a new theory is provided to recognize the WFRFT modulation based on higher order cumulants(HOC). First, it is deduced that the optimal WFRFT received order can be obtained through the minimization of 4 th-order cumulants, C_(42). Then, a combinatorial searching algorithm is designed to minimize C_(42).Finally, simulation results show that the designed scheme has a high recognition rate and the combinatorial searching algorithm is effective and reliable.
文摘A new adaptive estimator for direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signals using fourth-order cumulant based adaptive method is considered. The general higher-order statistics may not be easily applied in signal processing with too complex computation. Based on the fourth-order cumulant with 1-D slices and adaptive filters, an efficient algorithm is proposed to solve the problem and is extended for nonstationary stochastic processes. In order to achieve the accurate parameter estimation of direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signals, the fast step uses the modified fourth-order cumulant to reduce the computing complexity. While the second step employs an adaptive recursive system to estimate the power spectrum in the frequency domain. In the case of intercepted signals without large enough data samples, the estimator provides good performance in parameter estimation and white Gaussian noise suppression. Computer simulations are included to corroborate the theoretical development with different signal-to-noise ratio conditions and recursive coefficients.

文摘The theoretical statistical model of sea clutter is a key issue for maritime surveillance. In recent years, the statistical model of sea clutter has attracted much attention to design the detector well. Meanwhile, the circular scanning synthetic aperture radar(SAR) has been applied to wide surveillance of the sea surface.Therefore, the paper analyzes the validity of available sea clutter models for range Doppler images from different scan angles for moderate sea state in the medium grazing angle. The parameter estimation method for different distribution models employs the method of logarithmic cumulant(MoLC) based on Mellin transform uniformly. By the analysis of the fitting performance between the histogram of real data and the amplitude probability density function(PDF) of empirical distribution models and the goodness-of-fit(GoF) test for real data from different scan angles, it is indicated the generalized K(GK) distribution with generalized Gamma texture distribution can fit the sea clutter well for different scan angles in the medium grazing angle.

文摘A higher-order cumulant-based weighted least square(HOCWLS) and a higher-order cumulant-based iterative least square(HOCILS) are derived for multiple inputs single output(MISO) errors-in-variables(EIV) systems from noisy input/output data. Whether the noises of the input/output of the system are white or colored, the proposed algorithms can be insensitive to these noises and yield unbiased estimates. To realize adaptive parameter estimates, a higher-order cumulant-based recursive least square(HOCRLS) method is also studied. Convergence analysis of the HOCRLS is conducted by using the stochastic process theory and the stochastic martingale theory. It indicates that the parameter estimation error of HOCRLS consistently converges to zero under a generalized persistent excitation condition. The usefulness of the proposed algorithms is assessed through numerical simulations.

文摘The accuracy of background clutter model is a key factor which determines the performance of a constant false alarm rate(CFAR) target detection method. G0 distribution is one of the optimal statistic models in the synthetic aperture radar(SAR) image background clutter modeling and can accurately model various complex background clutters in the SAR images. But the application of the distribution is greatly limited by its disadvantages that the parameter estimation is complex and the local detection threshold is difficult to be obtained. In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, an synthetic aperture radar CFAR target detection method using the logarithmic cumulant(Mo LC) + method of moment(Mo M)-based G0 distribution clutter model is proposed. In the method, G0 distribution is used for modeling the background clutters, a new Mo LC+Mo M-based parameter estimation method coupled with a fast iterative algorithm is used for estimating the parameters of G0 distribution and an exquisite dichotomy method is used for obtaining the local detection threshold of CFAR detection, which greatly improves the computational efficiency, detection performance and environmental adaptability of CFAR detection. Experimental results show that the proposed SAR CFAR target detection method has good target detection performance in various complex background clutter environments.

文摘Compared to the rank reduction estimator (RARE) based on second-order statistics (called SOS-RARE), the RARE employing fourth-order cumulants (referred to as FOC-RARE) is capable of dealing with more sources and mitigating the negative influences of the Gaussian colored noise. However, in the presence of unexpected modeling errors, the resolution behavior of the FOC-RARE also deteriorate significantly as SOS-RARE, even for a known array covariance matrix. For this reason, the angle resolution capability of the FOC-RARE was theoretically analyzed. Firstly, the explicit formula for the mathematical expectation of the FOC-RARE spatial spectrum was derived through the second-order perturbation analysis method. Then, with the assumption that the unexpected modeling errors were drawn from complex circular Gaussian distribution, the theoretical formulas for the angle resolution probability of the FOC-RARE were presented. Numerical experiments validate our analytical results and demonstrate that the FOC-RARE has higher robustness to the unexpected modeling en'ors than that of the SOS-RARE from the resolution point of view.
