This paper presents the use of a computer method of the ventilation process simulation for the analysis of the flow distribution of air and gases in the area of wall mining work and the adjacent goaf.In workings and goaf,the complex issue of the formation of a gaseous atmosphere under variable ventilation conditions and an existing fire hazard level,with the possibility of feeding goaf with an additional carbon dioxide flux as the inertizing agent is considered.Some examples of the simulation of feeding goaf with carbon dioxide illustrating the different patterns of the distribution of the goaf atmosphere gases concentration,said distribution patterns being gas supply place dependent,have been presented.In addition,the impact of the additional sealing of goaf on the distribution level of the concentration of gases,the said sealing made from the wall side with chemical agents has also been considered.The capabilities of the VentGoaf computer simulation program,being the basis for our calculations,enable consideration of the use of the inert gases supplied to the goaf depending on: the location of the gas feeding the pipe outlet,tightness of the fire field,fire centre location,and spatial situation of the mined wall.It has been found that fire prevention elements,such as chemical sealing agents,are of great impact on the effectiveness of fire prevention. 展开更多

Two-dimensional images of the granular ore media with different grain sizes were obtained from the X-ray computed tomography.Combined with the digital image processing and finite element techniques,the original grayscale images were transformed into the finite element models directly.By using these models,the simulations of pore scale fluid flow among particles were conducted with the COMSOL Multiphysics,and the distribution characteristics of fluid flow velocity and pressure were analyzed.The simulation results show that there exist obvious preferential flow and leaching blind zone in each granular medium.The flow velocity at pore throat is larger than that of pore body and the largest velocity reaches 0.22 m/s.The velocity decreases gradually from the center of pore throat and body to the surface of particles.The flow paths of granular media with larger grain size distribute equally,while the fluid flow velocities in most of areas of granular media with smaller grain size are lower,and some of them approach to zero,so the permeability is very low.There exist some pore clusters with different pressures,which is the basic reason for the uneven flow velocity distribution. 展开更多

The proposed protocol can adapt to the dynamic and large computer networks (DLCN) with clustering topology. The procedures for realizing routing update and decision are presented in this paper. The proof of correctness and complexity analysis of the protocol are also made. The performance measures of the HDRP including throughput and average message delay are evaluated by using of simulation. The study shows that the HDRP provides a new available approach to the routing decision for DLCN or high speed networks with clustering topology. 展开更多

A slotting method for cosine gears was proposed by using the involute cutter based on the conjugate theories of digital surface and gear meshing. The slotting model between the cosine tooth surface represented by discrete points and the cutter figuration determined by analytic function was built for their geometrical relationship and conjugate motion during the machining process. Conjugate points in the cutter section corresponding to the discrete points on the cosine gear tooth surface and the conjugate movements were solved. By using the flexible control of the CNC procedure, the active control of the cutting trace of the slotting cutter was accomplished and the envelop forming of the cosine gear was obtained. Based on the software C++ and Matlab, the computer aided manufacturing(CAM) system of the cosine gear was developed, and the simulation of the slotting process was accomplished. Several examples were provided to illustrate the approach. The result of the simulation demonstrates that the proposed slotting method is feasible. 展开更多

The influence of casting parameters on stray grain formation of a unidirectionally solidified superalloy IN738LC casting with three platforms was investigated by using a 3D cellular automaton-finite element (CAFE) model in CALCOSOFT package. The model was first validated by comparison of the reported grain structure of AI-7%Si (mass fraction) alloy. Then, the influence of pouring temperature, heat flux of the lateral surface, convection heat coefficient of the cooled chill and mean undercooling of the bulk nucleation on the stray grain formation was studied during the unidirectional solidification. The predictions show that the stray grain formation is obviously sensitive to the pouring temperature, heat flux and mean undercooling of the bulk nucleation. However, increasing the heat convection coefficient has little influence on the stray grain formation. 展开更多

Wavelet has been used as a powerful tool in the signal processing and function approximation recently. This paper presents the application of wavelets for solving two key problems in 3-D audio simulation. First, we employ discrete wavelet transform (DWT) combined with vector quantization (VQ) to compress audio data in order to reduce tremendous redundant data storage and transmission times. Secondly, we use wavelets as the activation functions in neural networks called feed-forward wavelet networks to approach auditory localization information cues (head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) are used here). The experimental results demonstrate that the application of wavelets is more efficient and useful in 3-D audio simulation. 展开更多

Optimization Algorithm was developed for the simula ti on of ceramic grain growth at atomistic scale. Based on the coordination informa tion of different atoms, a structure of trident tree was applied to save large q uantities data, so as to solve the problems of large data information and long r unning time. For every atom a binary tree was firstly formed according to the X coordination of atom. If the values of X coordination were the same, the middle sub-tree of first layer formed then a binary tree according to the Y coordinati on of atom. If the values of Y coordination were also the same, the middle sub- tree of second layer formed then a binary tree according to the Z coordination o f atom. In this way the speed of whole program is enhanced obviously. In order t o reduce memory, in this structure only need to store the exterior atoms’ infor mation, an integer is used to store the interior atoms’ information. If other a toms take up an atom’s all adjacent positions, this atom will be deleted in the data structure, for all the adjacent positions’ atoms, the integer’s relative bit will be set 1 to denote that there is an atom in this position but not be s tored in the trident tree. When an outside atom is deleted, for all the bits tha t are set 1,an atom will be added to the trident tree as an outside atom for the relative positions. And for this new added atom, the integer’s relative bi t of all the adjacent position’s atoms should be set 0 to denote that there is no interior atom in this position. In this way, if there are n 3 atoms, onl y need to store 6n 2 quantity’s atoms’ information. Large quantity of mem ory space can then be saved. 展开更多

The simulation was preceded with Monte-Carlo method, using Visual C++ and OpenGL languages. Realistic images in series were monitored both in two d imensions and three dimensions. Simulated image of grain growth in this series i s presented in left figure with N 0=25, r=0.40 nm, α=0.1, T=1 300 ℃, and P 0=50 %. It was seen that the average grain size increases wit h the time of grain growth. It is in good agreement with that of practical BST c eramics. The average grain area versus grain growth time is shown in right figur e. It is clear that the kinetic exponents of grain growth are not constant durin g the process of microstructural evolution. The kinetic exponents are smaller ( m≈0.5) at the early stages of growth and larger (m≈8) at the later sta ges, which are in agreement with reported results. 展开更多

Many studies have shown that soft landing is a challenging problem in lunar exploration. The lunar soft landing in this paper begins from a 100 km circular lunar parking orbit. Once the landing area has been selected and it is time to deorbit for landing, a ΔV burn of 19.4 m/s is performed to establish a 100×15 km elliptical orbit. At perilune, the landing jets are ignited, and a propulsive landing is performed. A guidance and control scheme for lunar soft landing is proposed in the paper, which combines optimal theory with nonlinear neuro-control. Basically, an optimal nonlinear control law based on artificial neural network is presented, on the basis of the optimum trajectory from perilune to lunar surface in terms of Pontryagin's maximum principle according to the terminal boundary conditions and performance index. Therefore some optimal control laws can be carried out in the soft landing system due to the nonlinear mapping function of the neural network. The feasibility and validity of the control laws are verified in a simulation experiment. 展开更多

DM usually means an efficient knowledge discovery from database, and the immune algorithm is a biological theory-based and global searching algorithm. A novel induction algorithm is proposed here which integrates a power of individual immunity and an evolutionary mechanism of population. This algorithm does not take great care of discovering some classifying information, but unknown knowledge or a predication on higher level rules. Theoretical analysis and simulations both show that this algorithm is prone to the stabilization of a population and the improvement of entire capability, and also keeping a high degree of preciseness during the rule induction. 展开更多

Based on model-on-demand tactics, a multiple model approach to modeling for nonlinear systems is presented. The basic idea is to find out, from vast historical system input-output data sets, some data sets matching with the current working point, then to develop a local model using Local Polynomial Fitting (LPF) algorithm. With the change of working points, multiple local models are built, which realize the exact modeling for the global system. By comparing to other methods, the simulation results show good performance for its simple, effective and reliable estimation. 展开更多

On the base of the basic grinding models, the objective function and constrained functions for the multiparameter optimum grinding models had been built in this paper. By the computer simulation, the nonlinear optimum grinding control parameters had been obtained, and the truth grinding process had been controlled by these parameters. The results of simulation and the experiments proved the exactitude of the optimum models and the feasibility of the optimum strategy. This paper had also created the precondition for the grinding automation, virtual grinding and intelligent grinding system for cylindrical grinding process. 展开更多

Local inhomogeneity in totally asymmetric simple exclusion processes (TASEPs) with different hopping rates was studied. Many biological and chemical phenomena can be described by these non-equilibrium processes. A simple approximate theory and extensive Monte Carlo computer simulations were used to calculate the steady-state phase diagrams and bulk densities. It is found that the phase diagram for local inhomogeneity in TASEP with different hopping rates p is qualitatively similar to homogeneous models. Interestingly, there is a saturation point pair (a*, fl*) for the system, which is decided by parameters p and q. There are three stationary phases in the system, when parameter p is fixed (i.e., p=0.8), with the increase of the parameter q, the region of LD/LD and HD/HD phase increases and the HD/LD is the only phase which the region shrinks. The analytical results are in good agreement with simulations. 展开更多
