Pinewood nematode is a devastating forest pathogen and is considered a quarantine organism worldwide.First identified in China 40 years ago,the disease has been spreading since.In response,Chinese authorities have introduced new requirements for preventing and controlling the disease.This paper proposes a new and highly effective preventive drug,a trunk injection agent usable at normal temperatures.Its use is suggested for localized epidemic areas to reduce diseased and dead trees and as a preventive measure in adjacent non-epidemic areas to prevent the infection from spreading,particularly protecting important and ancient pine trees. 展开更多

Since 2015,stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability in China,posing a significant threat to the health of its citizens as a major chronic non-communicable disease.According to the China Stroke High-... Since 2015,stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability in China,posing a significant threat to the health of its citizens as a major chronic non-communicable disease.According to the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening and Intervention Program,an estimated 17.8 million[95%confidence interval(CI)17.6–18.0million]adults in China had experienced a stroke in 2020,with 3.4 million(95%CI 3.3–3.5 million)experiencing their first-ever stroke and another 2.3 million(95%CI 2.2–2.4 million)dying as a result.Additionally,approximately 12.5%(95%CI 12.4%–12.5%)of stroke survivors were left disabled,as defined by a modified Rankin Scale score greater than 1,equating to 2.2 million(95%CI 2.1–2.2 million)stroke-related disabilities in 2020.As the population ages and the prevalence of risk factors like diabetes,hypertension,and hyperlipidemia continues to rise and remains poorly controlled,the burden of stroke in China is also increasing.A large national epidemiological survey initiated by the China Hypertension League in 2017 showed that the prevalence of hypertension was 24.7%;the awareness,treatment,and control rates in hypertensive patients were:60.1%,42.5%,and 25.4%,respectively.A nationally representative sample of the Chinese mainland population showed that the weighted prevalence of total diabetes diagnosed by the American Diabetes Association criteria was 12.8%,suggesting there are 120 million adults with diabetes in China,and the awareness,treatment,and control rates in diabetic patients were:43.3%,49.0%,and 49.4%,respectively.The“Sixth National Health Service Statistical Survey Report in 2018”showed that the proportion of the obese population in China was 37.4%,an increase of 7.2 points from 2013.Data from 1599 hospitals in the Hospital Quality Monitoring System and Bigdata Observatory Platform for Stroke of China(BOSC)showed that a total of 3,418,432 stroke cases[mean age±standard error(SE)was(65.700±0.006)years,and 59.1%were male]were admitted during 2020.Of those,over 80.0%(81.9%)were ischemic stroke(IS),14.9%were intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH)strokes,and 3.1%were subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH)strokes.The mean±SE of hospitalization expenditures was Chinese Yuan(CNY)(16,975.6±16.3),ranging from(13,310.1±12.8)in IS to(81,369.8±260.7)in SAH,and out-of-pocket expenses were(5788.9±8.6),ranging from(4449.0±6.6)in IS to(30,778.2±156.8)in SAH.It was estimated that the medical cost of hospitalization for stroke in 2020 was CNY 58.0 billion,of which the patient pays approximately CNY 19.8 billion.In-hospital death/discharge against medical advice rate was 9.2%(95%CI 9.2%–9.2%),ranging from 6.4%(95%CI 6.4%–6.5%)for IS to 21.8%(95%CI 21.8%–21.9%)for ICH.From 2019 to 2020,the information about 188,648 patients with acute IS receiving intravenous thrombolytic therapy(IVT),49,845 patients receiving mechanical thrombectomy(MT),and 14,087 patients receiving bridging(IVT+MT)were collected through BOSC.The incidence of intracranial hemorrhage during treatment was 3.2%(95%CI 3.2%–3.3%),7.7%(95%CI 7.5%–8.0%),and 12.9%(95%CI 12.3%–13.4%),respectively.And in-hospital death/discharge against medical advice rate was 8.9%(95%CI 8.8%–9.0%),16.5%(95%CI 16.2%–16.9%),and 16.8%(95%CI 16.2%–17.4%),respectively.A prospective nationwide hospital-based study was conducted at 231 stroke base hospitals(Level III)from 31 provinces in China through BOSC from January 2019to December 2020 and 136,282 stroke patients were included and finished 12-month follow-up.Of those,over 86.9%were IS,10.8%were ICH strokes,and 2.3%were SAH strokes.The disability rate[%(95%CI)]in survivors of stroke at 3-month and 12-month was 14.8%(95%CI 14.6%–15.0%)and 14.0%(95%CI 13.8%–14.2%),respectively.The mortality rate[%(95%CI)]of stroke at 3-month and 12-month was 4.2%(95%CI 4.1%–4.3%)and 8.5%(95%CI 8.4%–8.6%),respectively.The recurrence rate[%(95%CI)]of stroke at 3-month and 12-month was 3.6%(95%CI 3.5%–3.7%)and 5.6%(95%CI 5.4%–5.7%),respectively.The Healthy China 2030 Stroke Action Plan was launched as part of this review,and the above data provide valuable guidelines for future stroke prevention and treatment efforts in China. 展开更多

Through core observation,thin section identification,X-ray diffraction analysis,scanning electron microscopy,and low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and isothermal adsorption experiments,the lithology and pore characteristics of the Upper Carboniferous bauxite series in eastern Ordos Basin were analyzed to reveal the formation and evolution process of the bauxite reservoirs.A petrological nomenclature and classification scheme for bauxitic rocks based on three units(aluminum hydroxides,iron minerals and clay minerals)is proposed.It is found that bauxitic mudstone is in the form of dense massive and clastic structures,while the(clayey)bauxite is of dense massive,pisolite,oolite,porous soil and clastic structures.Both bauxitic mudstone and bauxite reservoirs develop dissolution pores,intercrystalline pores,and microfractures as the dominant gas storage space,with the porosity less than 10% and mesopores in dominance.The bauxite series in the North China Craton can be divided into five sections,i.e.,ferrilite(Shanxi-style iron ore,section A),bauxitic mudstone(section B),bauxite(section C),bauxite mudstone(debris-containing,section D)and dark mudstone-coal section(section E).The burrow/funnel filling,lenticular,layered/massive bauxite deposits occur separately in the karst platforms,gentle slopes and low-lying areas.The karst platforms and gentle slopes are conducive to surface water leaching,with strong karstification,well-developed pores,large reservoir thickness and good physical properties,but poor strata continuity.The low-lying areas have poor physical properties but relatively continuous and stable reservoirs.The gas enrichment in bauxites is jointly controlled by source rock,reservoir rock and fractures.This recognition provides geological basis for the exploration and development of natural gas in the Upper Carboniferous in the study area and similar bauxite systems. 展开更多

Calcium production and the stellar evolution of first-generation stars remain fascinating mysteries in astrophysics.As one possible nucleosynthesis scenario,break-out from the hot carbon–nitrogen–oxygen(HCNO)cycle was thought to be the source of the calcium observed in these oldest stars.However,according to the stellar modeling,a nearly tenfold increase in the thermonuclear rate ratio of the break-out ^(19)F(p,γ)^(20) Ne reaction with respect to the competing ^(19)F(p,α)^(16) O back-processing reaction is required to reproduce the observed calcium abundance.We performed a direct measurement of this break-out reaction at the China Jinping underground laboratory.The measurement was performed down to the low-energy limit of E_(c.m.)=186 keV in the center-of-mass frame.The key resonance was observed at 225.2 keV for the first time.At a temperature of approximately 0.1 GK,this new resonance enhanced the thermonuclear ^(19)F(p,γ)^(20) Ne rate by up to a factor of≈7.4,compared with the previously recommended NACRE rate.This is of particular interest to the study of the evolution of the first stars and implies a stronger breakdown in their“warm”CNO cycle through the ^(19)F(p,γ)^(20) Ne reaction than previously envisioned.This break-out resulted in the production of the calcium observed in the oldest stars,enhancing our understanding of the evolution of the first stars. 展开更多

Quantifying the biomass of saplings in the regeneration component is critical for understanding biogeochemical processes of forest ecosystems.However,accurate allometric equations have yet to be developed in sufficient detail.To develop species-specific and generalized allometric equations,154 saplings of eight Fagaceae tree species in subtropical China’s evergreen broadleaved forests were collected.Three dendrometric variables,root collar diameter(d),height(h),and crown area(ca)were applied in the model by the weighted nonlinear seemingly unrelated regression method.Using only d as an input variable,the species-specific and generalized allometric equations estimated the aboveground biomass reasonably,with R _(adj)^(2) values generally>0.85.Adding h and/or ca improved the fitting of some biomass components to a certain extent.Generalized equations showed a relatively large coefficient of variation but comparable bias to species-specific equations.Only in the absence of species-specific equations at a given location are generalized equations for mixed species recommended.The developed regression equations can be used to accurately calculate the aboveground biomass of understory Fagaceae regeneration trees in China’s subtropical evergreen broadleaved forests. 展开更多

This study aims to analysis the influence of economic growth(EG)and energy consumption(EC)on sulfur dioxide emissions(SE)in China.Accordingly,this study explores the link between EG,EC,and SE for 30 provinces in China over the span of 2000-2019.This study also analyzes cross-sectional dependence tests,panel unit root tests,Westerlund panel cointegration tests,Dumitrescu-Hurlin(D-H)causality tests.According to the test results,there is an inverted U-shaped association between EG and SE,and the assumption of the Environmental Kuznets Curve(EKC)is verified.The signs of EG and EC in the fixed effect(FE)and random effect(RE)methods are in line with those in the dynamic ordinary least squares(DOLS),fully modified ordinary least squares(FMOLS)and autoregressive distributed lag(ARDL)estimators.Moreover,the results verified that EC can obviously positive impact the SE.To reduce SE in China,government and policymakers can improve air quality by developing cleaner energy sources and improving energy efficiency.This requires the comprehensive use of policies,regulations,economic incentives,and public participation to promote sustainable development. 展开更多

Long-term temperature variations inferred from high-resolution proxies provide an important context to evaluate the intensity of current warming.However,tem-perature reconstructions in humid southeastern China are scarce and particularly lack long-term data,limiting us to obtain a complete picture of regional temperature evolution.In this study,we present a well-verified reconstruction of winter-spring(January–April)minimum temperatures over southeastern China based on stable carbon isotopic(δ^(13)C)records of tree rings from Taxus wallichiana var.mairei from 1860 to 2014.This reconstruction accounted for 56.4%of the total observed variance.Cold periods occurred during the 1860s–1910s and 1960s–1970s.Although temperatures have had an upward trend since the 1920s,most of the cold extremes were in recent decades.The El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)variance acted as a key modulator of regional winter-spring minimum temperature variability.However,teleconnections between them were a nonlinear process,i.e.,a reduced or enhanced ENSO variance may result in a weakened or intensified temperature-ENSO relationship. 展开更多

The Qiantang Sag(QTS... Excessive carbon emissions have resulted in the greenhouse effect, causing considerable global climate change. Marine carbon storage has emerged as a crucial approach to addressing climate change. The Qiantang Sag(QTS) in the East China Sea Shelf Basin, characterized by its extensive area, thick sedimentary strata, and optimal depth, presents distinct geological advantages for carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) storage. Focusing on the lower section of the Shimentan Formation in the Upper Cretaceous of the QTS, this study integrates seismic interpretation and drilling data with core and thin-section analysis. We reveal the vertical variation characteristics of the strata by providing a detailed stratigraphic description. We use petrophysical data to reveal the development characteristics of high-quality carbon-storage layers and favorable reservoircaprock combinations, thereby evaluating the geological conditions for CO_(2) storage in various stratigraphic sections. We identify Layer B of the lower Shimentan Formation as the most advantageous stratum for marine CO_(2) storage. Furthermore, we analyze the carbon emission trends in the adjacent Yangtze River Delta region. Considering the characteristics of the source and sink areas, we suggest a strong correlation between the carbon emission sources of the Yangtze River Delta and the CO_(2) storage area of the QTS, making the latter a priority area for conducting experiments on marine CO_(2) storage. 展开更多

To study the effect of thinning intensity on the carbon sequestration by natural mixed coniferous and broad-leaf forests in Xiaoxing’an Mountains,China,we established six 100 m×100 m experimental plots in Dongfanghong For-est that varied in thinning intensity:plot A(10%),B(15%),C(20%),D(25%),E(30%),F(35%),and the control sample area(0%).A principal component analysis was performed using 50 different variables,including species diversity,soil fertility,litter characteristics,canopy structure param-eters,and seedling regeneration parameters.The effects of thinning intensity on carbon sequestration were strongest in plot E(0.75),followed by D(0.63),F(0.50),C(0.48),B(0.22),A(0.11),and the control(0.06).The composite score of plot E was the highest,indicating that the carbon sequestration effect was strongest at a thinning intensity of 30%.These findings provide useful insights that could aid the management of natural mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests in Xiaoxing’an Mountains,China.This information has implications for future studies of these forests,and the methods used could aid future ecological assessments of the natural forests in Xiaoxing’an Mountains,China. 展开更多

The Pinghu slope belt in the Xihu sag of the East China Sea Shelf Basin(ECSSB) is a crucial hydrocarbon production area in eastern China. However, due to the complex geological conditions, publications have lacked comprehensive research on the spatial-temporal coupling relationships of primary factors that impact hydrocarbon accumulation in the Pinghu slope belt. Furthermore, the hydrocarbon distribution patterns and the controlling factors across different study areas within the same slope belt are not yet fully understood. This study extensively utilized three-dimensional seismic data, well logging data,geochemical analysis, fluorescence analysis, and oil testing and production data to address these issues.Following a “stratification and differentiation” approach, the study identified seven distinct hydrocarbon migration and accumulation units(HMAU) in the Pinghu slope area based on the structural morphology characteristics, hydrocarbon source-reservoir-cap rock patterns, hydrocarbon migration pathways, and hydrocarbon supply range. Detailed analysis was conducted to examine the hydrocarbon distribution patterns and controlling factors within each migration and accumulation unit across different structural units, including high, medium, and low structural components. All data sources support a “southern-northern sub-area division, eastern-western sub-belt division, and variations in hydrocarbon accumulation” pattern in the Pinghu slope belt. The degree of hydrocarbon accumulation is controlled by the factors of structural morphology, hydrocarbon generation potential of source rocks, the spatial position of source slopes, fault sealing capacity, and sand body distribution. Furthermore, different coupling patterns of faults and sand bodies play a pivotal role in governing hydrocarbon enrichment systems across various migration and accumulation units. These observations indicate that three hydrocarbon accumulation patterns have been established within the slope belt, including near-source to far-source gentle slope with multiple hydrocarbon kitchens in the XP1-XP4 zones, near-source to middle-source gentle slope with dual-hydrocarbon kitchens in the XP5 zone, and near-source steep slope with a single hydrocarbon kitchen in the XP6-XP7 zones. These findings contribute to enhancing the theoretical system of hydrocarbon accumulation in the slope belt. 展开更多

China has successfully launched six lunar probes so far.From Chang'E-1 to Chang'E-4,they completed the circling,landing and roving exploration,of which Chang'E-4 was the first landing on the far side of the Moon in human history.Chang'E-5 was launched in December 2020,bringing back 1731 g of lunar soil samples.Through the detailed analysis of the samples,the scientists understand the history of late lunar volcanism,specifically extending lunar volcanism by about 800 million to 1 billion years,and proposed possible mechanisms.In addition,there are many new understandings of space weathering such as meteorite impacts and solar wind radiation on the Moon.China's first Mars exploration mission Tianwen-1 was successfully launched in July 2021.Through the study of scientific data,a number of important scientific achievements have been made in the topography,water environment and shallow surface structure of Mars.This paper introduces the main scientific achievements of Chang'E-4,Chang'E-5 and Tianwen-1 in the past two years,excluding technical and engineering contents.Due to the large number of articles involved,this paper only introduces part of the results. 展开更多

Exploration and development of large gas fields is an important way for a country to rapidly develop its natural gas industry.From 1991 to 2020,China discovered 68 new large gas fields,boosting its annual gas output to 1925×108m3in 2020,making it the fourth largest gas-producing country in the world.Based on 1696 molecular components and carbon isotopic composition data of alkane gas in 70 large gas fields in China,the characteristics of carbon isotopic composition of alkane gas in large gas fields in China were obtained.The lightest and average values ofδ^(13)C_(1),δ13C2,δ13C3andδ13C4become heavier with increasing carbon number,while the heaviest values ofδ^(13)C_(1),δ13C2,δ13C3andδ13C4become lighter with increasing carbon number.Theδ^(13)C_(1)values of large gas fields in China range from-71.2‰to-11.4‰(specifically,from-71.2‰to-56.4‰for bacterial gas,from-54.4‰to-21.6‰for oil-related gas,from-49.3‰to-18.9‰for coal-derived gas,and from-35.6‰to-11.4‰for abiogenic gas).Based on these data,theδ^(13)C_(1)chart of large gas fields in China was plotted.Moreover,theδ^(13)C_(1)values of natural gas in China range from-107.1‰to-8.9‰,specifically,from-1071%o to-55.1‰for bacterial gas,from-54.4‰to-21.6‰for oil-related gas,from-49.3‰to-13.3‰for coal-derived gas,and from-36.2‰to-8.9‰for abiogenic gas.Based on these data,theδ^(13)C_(1)chart of natural gas in China was plotted. 展开更多

Microdiamonds in Alkalic Dolerites from the North China Craton

Diamonds on the Earth mainly occur in volcanic rocks such as kimberlites and lamproites^([1-8]),but can also be found in ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks^([9-10]),meteorites^([11])and alluvial deposits^([12]).In recent years,diamonds have been recovered from ophiolites^([13-16])and alkalic dolerites^([17-18]).The discovery of ophiolitic diamonds and alkalic dolerites diamonds has drawn significant research interests to explore the origin of this new class of diamond source and to infer the evolution of their hosting rocks[^(19-21)].This new type of diamond had been initially considered as a result of contamination.However,more and more evidences either directly or indirectly demonstrate that these diamonds are of natural origin^([16,18,19,22-24]).During a geological survey from 2012 to 2015,the geologists from Nanjing Centre of China Geological Survey discovered a large number of yellow microdiamonds in the Langan area in northern Anhui Province^([18,25-29]).The diamond-bearing rocks of these microdiamonds mainly include dolerite and olivine basalt.From 2016 to 2018,four microdiamonds in basic rocks were recovered again in the prospecting work for primary diamond deposits in the Tashan and Zhangji areas in Xuzhou,which is geographically close to Langan[30].All these microdiamonds are similar in colour and shape to ophiolite type diamonds^([31]),and show different characteristics of kimberlite and lamproite type diamonds.Cai,et al.(2019)reported the petrological characteristics of the diamondiferous rocks^([17,21,30]).In this paper,the morphology,infrared spectrum,and carbon isotope compositions of microdiamonds were analysed and discussed by Fourier infrared spectroscopy and carbon isotope test.The types of microdiamonds found in the North China Craton,the age of mantle occurrence,and the source of carbon isotopes were revealed.In the past,many deposits of macro-diamonds,mostly of TypeⅠa orⅡa,were found in the North China Craton,and they have been extensively studied.Microdiamonds recovered from the alkalic dolerites of the North China Craton were studied by FTIR and carbon isotopic.These diamonds are usually light yellow to yellow,with a few colourless,and cubic,octahedral or rhomboidal dodecahedron,and octahedron in shape.The surface characteristics of diamonds,such as dissolution,can be observed.The overall N concentration is not high,with an average of 173×10^(-6).The infrared spectra show that most of these diamonds are TypeⅠb,and C centres are found at 1344 cm^(-1).Three diamond samples are classified as TypeⅠa/Ⅰb,because of A centres and C centres in these diamonds.Two diamonds are classified as typeⅠaAB because B,B′and A centres are found co-existing.FTIR microscopic measurements from the core to the edge of the TypeⅠaAB diamond suggest a mantle residence time of approximately 550 Ma.The C isotopic analysis reveals that these diamonds are strongly depleted in 13 C.These lowδ^(13) C values of dolerites-hosted diamonds overlap with the lower ends of peridotitic diamonds and metamorphic diamonds,and the upper end of the ophiolitic diamonds.Additionally,the reason for the strong deficitδ^(13) C shown by the carbon isotope should be studied in the future. 展开更多

Jade ware Jue is one of the most fashionable ornament in ancient China from the Neolithic Age to the Han Dynasty.In this study,the remnants of jade ware Jue,from Lijiashan ancient tomb group have been tested and analyzed respectively.The samples through a light etch surface showing glass luster and those with a severe etch surface showing earthen luster.With the aid of X-ray fluorescence Spectrometer(X-ray Fluorescence)test and X-ray diffraction(XRD)detection,the results show that tremolite is not the main mineral of the sample.The main components of the tested samples with light erosion are antigorite and talc,although the main components of the samples with severe erosion are calcite containing calcium carbonate barium.Furthermore,the research on jade ware Jue in Yunnan culture has not only contributed to our further understanding of the jade objects from Yunnan culture and the variety of jade material located in the Yunnan Province.It also provides a basis for the trace of the history and culture through the distribution and evolution of burial hierarchy laws.At the same time,the microscopic observation of the tested samples manifested a residual trace of“string”at the perforation,which has played a critical role in restoring the wearing of jade ware Jue from the tombs of the ancient Yunnan State and the handicraft skills at that time. 展开更多

Turquoise, a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminum, is highly valued for its unique colour and historical significance. The similarity in colour, quality, and pattern between turquoises from different localities may lead to confusion in determining their origins. This is particularly evident in the case of turquoises from Meiduk in Iran and Tongling in China(Fig.1).In Iran, turquoise deposits are typically associated with magmatic zones, specifically in the Meiduk mine, located 85 kilometers northwest of the Sar Cheshmeh porphyry copper deposit in Kerman Province. The deposit is hosted by Eocene volcanic rocks of andesitic-basaltic composition with porphyry-type mineralization associated with two Miocene calc-alkaline intrusive phases. Five distinct zones of the hypogene alteration include potassic, potassic-phyllic, phyllic, and propylitic zones, which are rich in magnetite. Mineralization processes include stockwork, dissemination, veinlets, and veins rich in garnet, chalcopyrite, magnetite, and anhydrite. Turquoise is found in transitional, leached, and supergene zones, primarily as fracture and seam fillers. In contrast, Chinese turquoises are more often found in sedimentary rocks, with significant exceptions in places like the Tongling mine in Anhui Province, which are hosted within magmatic rocks. The turquoise from Tongling is found in the Tongling area within the Middle-lower Yangtze Metallogenic Belt, an area characterized by complex tectonics and intense magmatic and metallogenic activities. The turquoise deposits are associated with iron-copper polymetallic mineralization within Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks.The turquoise from Meiduk exhibited a specific gravity range of 2.22 g/cm^(3)to 2.71 g/cm^(3), SWUV fluorescence from none to medium, and LWUV fluorescence from faint to strong, indicating diverse mineralogical compositions. SEM examination of turquoise from Meiduk reveals a variety of mineral morphologies. The turquoise displays closely packed arrays of elongated needle-like crystals, measuring 2 μm to 9 μm in length and 0.1 μm to 0.4 μm in thickness, indicating a dynamic growth environment. The density and alignment of these crystals suggest the space-constrained setting, likely influenced by rapid deposition from mineral-laden fluids, with crystals interlocked due to simultaneous nucleation events. Some crystals appear similarly elongated but are more dispersed, with greater separation between individual crystals. In other areas, the elongated turquoise crystals are tightly intergrown, creating a dense textural appearance, pointing to a stage where growth space became limited, resulting in an interlocking matrix. Additionally, some crystals radiate outward from a central point, forming a spherical pattern reaching about 18 μm. The turquoise from Tongling show a specific gravity range of 2.26 g/cm^(3)to 2.60 g/cm^(3), with consistent medium SWUV fluorescence and strong LWUV fluorescence. SEM examination reveals needle structures, plate-like structures, and spheroidal aggregates composed of needle and plate-like microcrystals. These spherical aggregates, some with diameters around 26 μm, exhibit the concentric growth structure covered by turquoise microcrystals, with crystal lengths of 8 μm. The surface needle-like microcrystals vary in size, approximately 3 μm in length, 2 μm in width, and 0.2 to 0.6 μm in thickness.Optical microscopy, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy reported the presence of quartz, gypsum, iron oxides such as jarosite and goethite, biotite, sericite, pyrite, galena, bornite, graphene oxide, malachite, and azurite as major associated minerals of Meiduk's. In contrast, the Tongling mine features minerals such as quartz, anatase, barite, sodium feldspar, illite, and malachite.Through EPMA and LA-ICP-MS results, the turquoises of Tongling exhibit similar average iron content(1.28% and 1.26% respectively), but significant differences in copper content. The turquoises of Meiduk have the average copper content of 6.97%, whereas Tongling samples show the higher content of 11.38%. Na, K, and Ca concentrations are also higher in Meiduk samples, suggesting interaction with alkali-rich fluids and potassic alteration. Trace elements such as Ti, Cr, Zn, Se, and Mo serve as tracing agents for Meiduk samples, while Be and W are associated with Tongling samples. Regarding rare earth elements(REEs), Meiduk samples show diverse δCe(0.14-4.62) and δEu(0.65-15.78) values, indicating a wide range of oxidation states and europium anomalies. The significant variability in LREE/HREE ratios(0.39-31.74) and ΣREE concentrations(0.25-240.72 ppm) suggests heterogeneous REE fractionation patterns. In contrast, Tongling samples display δCe(0.070-2.51) and δEu(0.238-4.87) ranges, with more consistent LREE/HREE ratios(0.128-10.2) and ΣREE values(0.069-4.08 ppm), indicating stable REE fractionation dynamics.This comparative study of turquoises from the Meiduk mine in Iran and the Tongling mine in China reveals significant similarities and differences in their geochemical and mineralogical characteristics. Both deposits are hosted within magmatic rocks and produce turquoise as a byproduct in open-pit copper mining operations, exhibiting comparable colors, patterns, and morphologies. However, distinct differences are noted in their mineral compositions and trace elements, with turquoise from Meiduk associated with a complex hydrothermal system rich in various sulfide and oxide minerals and higher copper, Na, K, and Ca concentrations, indicating alkali-rich fluid interactions. In contrast, the turquoise from Tongling, influenced by both volcanic and sedimentary processes, shows a higher copper content, presence of barite, and different trace elements such as Be and W. The REE patterns also highlight the contrasting geological histories and environmental conditions at each site, with Meiduk samples showing a broader range of oxidation states and europium anomalies compared to the more stable REE fractionation dynamics in Tongling samples. These differences underscore the importance of detailed geochemical and mineralogical analyses for accurate provenance determination in gemmological and archaeological contexts. 展开更多
