The paper presents the longitudinal control for the carrier-based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system with unmeasured states, actuator faults, control input constraints, and external disturbances. By combining output state observer, adaptive fuzzy control, and constraint backstepping technology, a robust fault tolerant control approach is proposed. An output state observer with fuzzy logic systems is developed to estimate unmeasured states, and command filters rather than differentiations of virtual control law are used to solve the computational complexity problem in traditional backstepping. Additionally, a robust term is introduced to offset the fuzzy adaptive estimation error and external disturbance, and an appropriate fault controller structure with matching conditions obtained from fault compensation is proposed. Based on the Lyapunov theory, the designed control program is illustrated to guarantee that all the closed-loop signals of the given system are bounded, and the output errors converge to a small neighborhood of zero. A carrier-based UAV nonlinear longitudinal model is employed to testify the feasibility and validity of the control scheme. The simulation results show that all the controllers can perform at a satisfactory level of reference tracking despite the existence of unknown aerodynamic parameters and actuator faults. © 2017 Beijing Institute of Aerospace Information. 展开更多

Safe and efficient sortie scheduling on the confined flight deck is crucial for maintaining high combat effectiveness of the aircraft carrier.The primary difficulty exactly lies in the spatiotemporal coordination,i.e.,allocation of limited supporting resources and collision-avoidance between heterogeneous dispatch entities.In this paper,the problem is investigated in the perspective of hybrid flow-shop scheduling problem by synthesizing the precedence,space and resource constraints.Specifically,eight processing procedures are abstracted,where tractors,preparing spots,catapults,and launching are virtualized as machines.By analyzing the constraints in sortie scheduling,a mixed-integer planning model is constructed.In particular,the constraint on preparing spot occupancy is improved to further enhance the sortie efficiency.The basic trajectory library for each dispatch entity is generated and a delayed strategy is integrated to address the collision-avoidance issue.To efficiently solve the formulated HFSP,which is essentially a combinatorial problem with tightly coupled constraints,a chaos-initialized genetic algorithm is developed.The solution framework is validated by the simulation environment referring to the Fort-class carrier,exhibiting higher sortie efficiency when compared to existing strategies.And animation of the simulation results is available at www.bilibili.com/video/BV14t421A7Tt/.The study presents a promising supporting technique for autonomous flight deck operation in the foreseeable future,and can be easily extended to other supporting scenarios,e.g.,ammunition delivery and aircraft maintenance. 展开更多

In response to the scarcity of infrared aircraft samples and the tendency of traditional deep learning to overfit,a few-shot infrared aircraft classification method based on cross-correlation networks is proposed.This method combines two core modules:a simple parameter-free self-attention and cross-attention.By analyzing the self-correlation and cross-correlation between support images and query images,it achieves effective classification of infrared aircraft under few-shot conditions.The proposed cross-correlation network integrates these two modules and is trained in an end-to-end manner.The simple parameter-free self-attention is responsible for extracting the internal structure of the image while the cross-attention can calculate the cross-correlation between images further extracting and fusing the features between images.Compared with existing few-shot infrared target classification models,this model focuses on the geometric structure and thermal texture information of infrared images by modeling the semantic relevance between the features of the support set and query set,thus better attending to the target objects.Experimental results show that this method outperforms existing infrared aircraft classification methods in various classification tasks,with the highest classification accuracy improvement exceeding 3%.In addition,ablation experiments and comparative experiments also prove the effectiveness of the method. 展开更多

In view of the deficiencies in aspects such as failure rate requirements and analysis assumptions of advisory circular,this paper investigates the sources of high safety requirements,and the top-down design method for the flight control system life cycle.Correspondingly,measures are proposed,including enhancing the safety target value to 10^(−10)per flight hour and implementing development assurance.In view of the shortcomings of mainstream aircraft flight control systems,such as weak backup capability and complex fault reconfiguration logic,improvements have been made to the system’s operating modes,control channel allocation,and common mode failure mitigation schemes based on the existing flight control architecture.The flight control design trends and philosophies have been analyzed.A flight control system architecture scheme is proposed,which includes three operating modes and multi-level voters/monitors,three main control channels,and a backup system independent of the main control system,which has been confirmed through functional modeling simulations.The proposed method plays an important role in the architecture design of safety-critical flight control system. 展开更多

Recovery is a crucial supporting process for carrier aircraft,where a reasonable landing scheduling is expected to guide the fleet landing safely and quickly.Currently,there is little research on this topic,and most of it neglects potential influence factors,leaving the corresponding supporting efficiency questionable.In this paper,we study the landing scheduling problem for carrier aircraft considering the effects of bolting and aerial refueling.Based on the analysis of recovery mode involving the above factors,two types of primary constraints(i.e.,fuel constraint and wake interval constraint)are first described.Then,taking the landing sequencing as decision variables,a combinatorial optimization model with a compound objective function is formulated.Aiming at an efficient solution,an improved firefly algorithm is designed by integrating multiple evolutionary operators.In addition,a dynamic replanning mechanism is introduced to deal with special situations(i.e.,the occurrence of bolting and fuel shortage),where the high efficiency of the designed algorithm facilitates the online scheduling adjustment within seconds.Finally,numerical simulations with sufficient and insufficient fuel cases are both carried out,highlighting the necessity to consider bolting and aerial refueling during the planning procedure.Simulation results reveal that a higher bolting probability,as well as extra aerial refueling operations caused by fuel shortage,will lead to longer recovery complete time.Meanwhile,due to the strong optimum-seeking capability and solution efficiency of the improved algorithm,adaptive scheduling can be generated within milliseconds to deal with special situations,significantly improving the safety and efficiency of the recovery process.An animation is accessible at bilibili.com/video/BV1QprKY2EwD. 展开更多

The weapon transportation support scheduling problem on aircraft carrier deck is the key to restricting the sortie rate and combat capability of carrier-based aircraft.This paper studies the problem and presents a novel solution architecture.Taking the interference of the carrier-based aircraft deck layout on the weapon transportation route and precedence constraint into consideration,a mixed integer formulation is established to minimize the total objective,which is constituted of makespan,load variance and accumulative transfer time of support unit.Solution approach is developed for the model.Firstly,based on modeling the carrier aircraft parked on deck as convex obstacles,the path library of weapon transportation is constructed through visibility graph and Warshall-Floyd methods.We then propose a bi-population immune algorithm in which a population-based forward/backward scheduling technique,local search schemes and a chaotic catastrophe operator are embedded.Besides,the randomkey solution representation and serial scheduling generation scheme are adopted to conveniently obtain a better solution.The Taguchi method is additionally employed to determine key parameters of the algorithm.Finally,on a set of generated realistic instances,we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms all compared algorithms designed for similar optimization problems and can significantly improve the efficiency,and that the established model and the bi-population immune algorithm can effectively respond to the weapon support requirements of carrier-based aircraft under different sortie missions. 展开更多

This paper develops a robust control methodology for a class of morphing aircraft,which is called innovative control effector(ICE) aircraft.For the ICE morphing aircraft,the distributed arrays of hundreds of shape-change devices are employed to stabilize and maneuver the air vehicle.Because the morphing aircraft have the inherent uncertainty and varying dynamics due to the alteration of their configuration,a desired control performance can not be satisfied with a fixed feedback controller.Therefore,a novel control framework including an adaptive flight control law and an adaptive allocation algorithm is proposed.Firstly,a state feedback adaptive control law is designed to guarantee closed-loop stability and state tracking in the presence of uncertain dynamics caused by the wing shape change due to different flight missions.In the control allocation,many distributed arrays are managed in an optimal way to improve the robustness of the system.The scheme is used to an uncertain morphing aircraft model,and the simulation results demonstrate their performance. 展开更多

In order to improve the survivability of the aircraft,conceptual design and radar cross section(RCS) performance research are done. The CATIA software is used to design the 3D digital model of the shipborne early warning aircraft, and some measures are taken to reduce the RCS characteristics of the early warning aircraft at the same time. Based on the physical optics method and the equivalent electromagnetic flow method,the aircraft's RCS characteristics and strength distribution characteristics are simulated numerically, and compared with the foreign advanced shipborne early warning aircraft. The simulation results show that under the X radar band, when the incident wave pitching angle is 0?, compared with the foreign advanced shipborne early warning aircraft, the forward RCS average value of the conceptual shipborne early warning aircraft is reduced to 24.49%, the lateral RCS average value is reduced to 5.04%, and the backward RCS average value is reduced to 39.26%. The research results of this paper are expected to provide theoretical basis and technical support for the conceptual design and the stealth design of the shipborne early warning aircraft. 展开更多

With the wide application of condition based maintenance(CBM) in aircraft maintenance practice, the joint optimization of maintenance and inventory management, which can take full advantage of CBM and reduce the aircraft operational cost, is receiving increasing attention. In order to optimize the inspection interval, maintenance decision and spare provisioning together for aircraft deteriorating parts, firstly, a joint inventory management strategy is presented, then, a joint optimization of maintenance inspection and spare provisioning for aircraft parts subject to the Wiener degradation process is proposed based on the strategy.Secondly, a combination of the genetic algorithm(GA) and the Monte Carol method is developed to minimize the total cost rate.Finally, a case study is conducted and the proposed joint optimization model is compared with the existing optimization model and the airline real case. The results demonstrate that the proposed model is more beneficial and effective. In addition, the sensitivity analysis of the proposed model shows that the lead time has higher influence on the optimal results than the urgent order cost and the corrective maintenance cost, which is consistent with the actual situation of aircraft maintenance practices and inventory management. 展开更多

Memory and self-regulation mechanisms of IA were used to avoid PSO plunging into local optima. Vaccination and immune selection mechanisms were used to prevent the undulate phenomenon during the evolutionary process. The algorithm was introduced through an application in the direct maintenance cost (DMC) estimation of aircraft components. Experiments results show that the algorithm can compute simply and run quickly. It resolves the combinatorial optimization problem of component DMC estimation with simple and available parameters. And it has higher accuracy than individual methods, such as PLS, BP and v-SVM, and also has better performance than other combined methods, such as basic PSO and BP neural network. 展开更多

The quantitative evaluation result of the maturity degree can be calculated by optimizing the semantic discount factor aim for the minimum deviation. The fuzzy inference system of an aircraft auto-landing fuzzy controller in the course of automatic control on landing is investigated. The auto-landing model for controlling, membership functions of state variables, inference rules in the system, algorithms for fuzzy inference and defuzzification, etc, are analyzed and devised in detail with the emphasis on optimal analysis and design of Takagi-Sugeno ALFC based on adaptive neural fuzzy inference systems. Finally, the simulation for verification and analysis of the designed schemes is made by utilizing Simulink and fuzzy logic toolbox with MATLAB. The simulated results show that the ANFIS based T-S type ALFC scheme has excellent behavior in performance. 展开更多

There are always large-scale items in the maintenances schedule of aircraft system, many of which have been fixed to be done in predefined sequences, which leads the workflow to be sys-tematically complex and makes this kind of problem quite different from all sorts of existing job-selection modes. On the other hand, the human resources are always limited and men have different working capabilities on different items, which make the allocation operation of human resources be much roomy. However, the final total time span of maintenance is often required to be as short as possible in many practices, in order to suffer only the lowest cost of loss while the system is stopping. A new model for op-timizing the allocation if aircraft maintenance human resources with the constraint of predefined sequence is presented. The ge-netic algorithm is employed to find the optimal solution that holds the shortest total time span of maintenance. To generate the ul-timate maintenance work items and the human resource array, the sequences among all maintenance work items are considered firstly, the work item array is then generated through traversal with the constraint of maintenance sequence matrix, and the human resources are finally allocated according to the work item array with the constraint of the maintenance capability. An example is demonstrated to show that the model and algorithm behave a satisfying performance on finding the optimal solution as expected. 展开更多

Based on the weight models of battery, motor and electronic speed controller, the power consumption model of propeller and the constant power discharge model of battery, an efficient method to estimate the hover endurance of battery powered VTOL aircraft was presented. In order to understand the mechanism of performance improvement, the impacts of propulsion system parameters on hover endurance were analyzed by simulations, including the motor power density, the battery capacity, specific energy and Peukert coefficient. Ground experiment platform was established and validation experiments were carried out, the results of which showed a well agreement with the simulations. The estimation method and the analysis results could be used for optimization design and hover performance evaluation of battery powered VTOL aircraft. 展开更多

The algorithm first gives the RCS changing model of low detectable aircraft, then establishes a threat model of a ground-based air defense system according to the relations between RCS and the radar range coverage. By the new cost functions of the flight path, which consider both factors of the survival probability and the distance of total route, this path planning method is simulated based on the Dijkstra algorithm, and the planned route meets the flight capacity constraints. Simulation results show that using the effective path planning algorithm, the low detectable aircraft can give full play to its own advantage of stealth to achieve the purpose of silent penetration. 展开更多

Then, the aggregation operator called the IFSs weighted averaging (IFSWA) operator is taken to synthesize decision-makers’ (DMs’) preferences by the form of the IFS. In this operator, the DM’s reliability weights factors are determined based on the distance measure between their preferences. Finally, an improved score function is used to rank alternatives and to get the best one. An illustrative example proves the proposed method is effective to valuate the ergonomics of the ACDCS. 展开更多

In order to enhance the search capability of the cuckoo search algorithm, the adaptive detection probability and amplification factor are designed. Finally, the control allocation method based on the proposed improved cuckoo search algorithm is applied to the tracking control problem of the innovative control effector aircraft. Coordinated taxiing planning for multiple aircraft on flight deck is of vital importance which can dramatically improve the dispatching efficiency.In this paper,first,the coordinated taxiing path planning problem is transformed into a centralized optimal control problem where collision-free conditions and mechanical limits are considered.Since the formulated optimal control problem is of large state space and highly nonlinear,an efficient hierarchical initialization technique based on the Dubins-curve method is proposed.Then,a model predictive controller is designed to track the obtained reference trajectory in the presence of initial state error and external disturbances.Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed“offline planningþonline tracking”framework can achieve efficient and robust coordinated taxiing planning and tracking even in the presence of initial state error and continuous external disturbances. 展开更多
