Under the umbrella of WTO, the reduction in trade barriers has forced the policy makers to focus on the export competitiveness. Rice is an important source for foreign exchange earnings for the economy of Pakistan, keeping in mind of this fact, the competitiveness of Pakistan's rice with other major exporters was examined by applying revealed competitive advantage. The domestic consumption trends of rice among the major rice exporting countries were also analyzed in the current study. The results revealed that as compare to other major exporters of rice in the world, Pakistan had high competitive and comparative advantage in the production of rice. The comparison of the movements in comparative advantage indices for Pakistan with the major world rice competitors/exporters showed that Pakistan possessed relatively high comparative and competitive advantages in rice production. The declining domestic per capita consumption of rice and increasing trends in competitiveness for Pakistan clearly revealed the expected potential of higher growth which meant that rice exports from Pakistan could continue to play an important role for the earnings of foreign exchange. In order to exploit the potential benefits of rice exports, we need to strengthen the competitiveness in rice sector of Pakistan. 展开更多

Exports of Pakistan are highly concentrated in agricultural products including cotton, rice, sugar and fruit. This study analyzed comparative and competitive advantages of the main agricultural products of Pakistan, i.e. cotton, rice and tangerines. Consumption patterns of top exporting countries in each category were also analyzed. Results revealed that Pakistan had strong competitiveness for export of these commodities. Strong potential for growth in the agricultural sector of Pakistan was found and it could be optimized to raise export earnings and meet the objectives of the strategic trade policy framework (STPF) 2015-2018 of Pakistan. 展开更多

This paper examined the competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products, in relation to the rest of the world, based on the index of revealed comparative advantage, using lots of data during period of 1980 to 2000. The index is useful in identifying the demarcation between comparative advantage and comparative disadvantage, though a problem exits when using it. China is shown to have a comparative advantage in a range of agricultural products, including edible vegetables and tea. This complements the findings of those studies that have used price and cost based on approaches in identifying competitiveness in agricultural products. Results indicated that the RCA values had been weakening over the 21-year period. These have vastly different implication for the future reform in China's agriculture, 展开更多

In the process of power scaling large-area Quantum Cascade Lasers(QCLs),challenges such as degradation of beam quality and emission of multilobed far-field modes are frequently encountered.These issues become particularly pronounced with an increase in ridge width,resulting in multimode problems.To tackle this,an innovative multi ridge waveguide structure based on the principle of supersymmetry(SUSY)was proposed.This structure comprises a wider main waveguide in the center and two narrower auxiliary waveguides on either side.The high-order modes of the main waveguide are coupled with the modes of the auxiliary waveguides through mode-matching design,and the optical loss of the auxiliary waveguides suppresses these modes,thereby achieving fundamental mode lasing of the wider main waveguide.This paper employs the finite difference eigenmode(FDE)method to perform detailed structural modeling and simulation optimization of the 4.6μm wavelength quantum cascade laser,successfully achieving a single transverse mode QCL with a ridge width of 10μm.In comparison to the traditional single-mode QCL(with a ridge width of about 5μm),the MRW structure has the potential to increase the gain area of the laser by 100%.This offers a novel design concept and methodology for enhancing the single-mode luminous power of mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers,which is of considerable significance. 展开更多

Effect of cumin intercropping density on cotton growth and system economic benefits under subsurface drip irrigation

Background The mulch-free subsurface drip irrigation system demonstrated water-saving potential as an alternative to traditional mulch-based drip irrigation while also eliminating residual film pollution at source.However,delayed sowing is unavoidable in mulch-free cultivation in ecological regions with a short frost-free period.Intercropping with cumin,which has a shorter growth period,served as an effective strategy to improve land use efficiency during the early growth stages of cotton.Therefore,a two-year field experiment was conducted to study the effects of intercropping cumin at the seeding rate of 2.5(ID1),3.85(ID2),and 5.2(ID3)kg・hm−2 on cotton growth,interspecies competition,fiber quality,and water use efficiency(WUE),as well as system economic benefits under subsurface drip irrigation.Monocropping cotton was used as the control(CK)treatment.Results At the initial flowering(IF)stage(the end of the co-growth period of cotton and cumin),cotton plant height in ID2 and ID3 treatments decreased by 5.93%–16.53%and 10.87%–31.11%,respectively,cotton stem diameter by 11.41%–14.25%and 3.37%–26.49%,respectively,and vegetative biomass by 14.46%–30.65%and 22.59%–49.91%,respectively,compared with CK treatment.With the increase in cumin density,the crop growth rate(CGR)and compensation effect in cotton tended to significantly decrease at the IF stage regardless of organs considered.For the non-co-growth period(after harvesting cumin),cotton reproductive organ biomass in ID2 and ID3 treatments increased by 4.09%‒14.61%at the boll opening stage,crop growth rate in reproductive organs by 20.74%and 74.26%from peak boll to boll opening stages compared with CK treatment,due to an enhancement of 19.09%and 49.30%in the compensation effect.Compared with ID1,the aggressivity treated by ID2 and ID3 decreased by 12.82%–46.34%and 17.95%–31.71%,respectively.However,owing to a greater number of green bolls in the upper canopy at the harvest stages in the ID3 treatment,the system production value(closely related to yield)treated by ID2 was 11.69%–16.89%,6.56%–20.02%,and 16.48%–59.83%greater than that of the ID1,ID3,and CK treatments,respectively.This also led to the highest WUE and net profit under the ID2 treatment.Conclusion Intercropping cumin with medium density improved the cotton biomass accumulation characteristics and increased resources such as land and water utilization efficiency and economic benefits through a stronger compensation effect after harvesting cumin under subsurface drip irrigation without mulch.This study not only provides alternatives to residual film pollution in arid cotton fields but also establishes a sustainable agro-ecological-economic planting paradigm by reducing plastic use and enhancing water and fertilizer use efficiency,holding significant implications for advancing resource-efficient agricultural systems. 展开更多

The booming live-streaming commerce has significantly changed the traditional e-commerce model,thus attracting much attention from both industry and academia.In recent years,an increasing number of scholars have applied analytical models to explore live-streaming strategies for firms in different scenarios.However,the previous literature mainly considers monopolists,while in the real world,competition is not rare.To fill this gap between the literature and practical observations,this paper applies a game theoretical model to study live-streaming adoption and pricing strategy for firms under competitive environments.The results show that,for competitive firms,the equilibrium strategy depends on the relation between the commission rate and the intensity of the market expansion effect.Additionally,compared to the case in which no firm adopts live-streaming,competitive firms do not always benefit from the adoption of live-streaming selling.The paper also shows that competition plays a negative role in inducing a firm to adopt live-streaming. 展开更多

A hybrid trade-old-for-new and trade-old-for-remanufactured supply chain with carbon tax

Facing serious environmental problems,governments and manufacturers are taking action to reduce carbon emissions.Among these endeavors,carbon tax policy are widely adopted by governments,and trade-old-for-new(TON)and trade-old-for-remanufactured(TOR)are offered by manufacturers and subsidized by governments.To explore the effects of remanufacturer competition and carbon tax on the manufacturer’s TON and TOR decisions and the environment,we formulate three profit maximization models and present some theoretical and numerical analyses.The results show that,under the remanufacturer competition and carbon tax,the manufacturer’s optimal price and production decisions mainly depend on consumer willingness and carbon tax rate.A higher consumer willingness to manufacturer’s remanufactured products will decrease the demand for the manufacturer’s TON,but it always increases the demand for the manufacturer’s TOR.A higher consumer willingness to remanufacturer’s products will not affect the demand for the manufacturer’s TON;however,it will reduce the demand for manufacturer’s TOR.In addition,we find that a higher carbon tax rate always reduces total carbon emission reduction,and that it may increase the manufacturer’s profit due to the increase in TOR demand. 展开更多

Ecuador Export Potential Agricultural Products to China

This paper presented a conceptual framework to country competitiveness using the Index of Competitiveness (IVCR), revealed for Ecuador to determine the most competitive and potential products exported to China; also measured the export complementarities through other indicators and by comparison with similar products exported by competing countries. This study used the 6-digit Harmonized System (HS) and the 10-digit NANDINA tariff codes for more specific items. Thereby we can identify trends that allow the Ecuadorian authorities analyze the state of bilateral agreements and develop action strategies, moreover help exporters identify potential market niches, considering that China is currently one of the developing countries with higher growth and expanding economy. The results showed that the most competitive agricultural products consisted on fish flour, bovine skins, mollusks, fish wastes and cocoa grains. The founded potential products were broad beans, fruits, fish viscera, algae, alpaca hair or hair wastes. Nevertheless these were none adding value commodities we need to fred some mechanisms to deepen the exportable offer of value-added goods. 展开更多

为建立一种检测成本低、操作简便的蓝舌病血清抗体监测方法,本研究通过制备群特异性的蓝舌病多克隆检测抗体和优化抗原固定技术,建立了蓝舌病多克隆抗体C-ELISA检测方法。通过对150份牛羊已知阴性血清的检测确定该检测方法的cut-off值为... 为建立一种检测成本低、操作简便的蓝舌病血清抗体监测方法,本研究通过制备群特异性的蓝舌病多克隆检测抗体和优化抗原固定技术,建立了蓝舌病多克隆抗体C-ELISA检测方法。通过对150份牛羊已知阴性血清的检测确定该检测方法的cut-off值为40%;对58份已知阳性血清样品同时进行中和实验和C-ELISA检测,检测结果经SPSS软件进行t检测统计分析,Sig.(双侧)=0.651,相关性0.912,相关性显著。对24个BTV血清型阳性血清,2份牛BVD阳性血清,2份羊口蹄疫阳性血清,2份羊痘阳性血清进行检测。结果表明,24个BTV血清型阳性血清为阳性,其他血清全部为阴性。对150份已知阴性血清和55份已知阳性血清用中和试验、美国VMRD公司试剂盒和本方法分别进行检测。结果表明,本检测方法与中和试验检测结果符合率达100%,进口试剂盒符合率为96.7%。 展开更多

The degradation data of multi-components in missile is derived by periodical testing. How to use these data to assess the storage reliability (SR) of the whole missile is a difficult problem in current research. An SR assessment model based on competition failure of multi-components in missile is proposed. By analyzing the missile life profile and its storage failure feature, the key components in missile are obtained and the characteristics voltage is assumed to be its key performance parameter. When the voltage testing data of key components in missile are available, a state space model (SSM) is applied to obtain the whole missile degradation state, which is defined as the missile degradation degree (DD). A Wiener process with the time-scale model (TSM) is applied to build the degradation failure model with individual variability and nonlinearity. The Weibull distribution and proportional risk model are applied to build an outburst failure model with performance degradation effect. Furthermore, a competition failure model with the correlation between degradation failure and outburst failure is proposed. A numerical example with a set of missiles in storage is analyzed to demonstrate the accuracy and superiority of the proposed model. 展开更多

In view of the fact that traditional job shop scheduling only considers a single factor, which affects the effect of resource allocation, the dual-resource integrated scheduling problem between AGV and machine in intelligent manufacturing job shop environment was studied. The dual-resource integrated scheduling model of AGV and machine was established by comprehensively considering constraints of machines, workpieces and AGVs. The bidirectional single path fixed guidance system based on topological map was determined, and the AGV transportation task model was defined. The improved A* path optimization algorithm was used to determine the optimal path, and the path conflict elimination mechanism was described. The improved NSGA-Ⅱ algorithm was used to determine the machining workpiece sequence, and the competition mechanism was introduced to allocate AGV transportation tasks. The proposed model and method were verified by a workshop production example, the results showed that the dual resource integrated scheduling strategy of AGV and machine is effective. 展开更多

Short-term traffic flow forecasting is a significant part of intelligent transportation system.In some traffic control scenarios,obtaining future traffic flow in advance is conducive to highway management department to have sufficient time to formulate corresponding traffic flow control measures.In hence,it is meaningful to establish an accurate short-term traffic flow method and provide reference for peak traffic flow warning.This paper proposed a new hybrid model for traffic flow forecasting,which is composed of the variational mode decomposition(VMD)method,the group method of data handling(GMDH)neural network,bi-directional long and short term memory(BILSTM)network and ELMAN network,and is optimized by the imperialist competitive algorithm(ICA)method.To illustrate the performance of the proposed model,there are several comparative experiments between the proposed model and other models.The experiment results show that 1)BILSTM network,GMDH network and ELMAN network have better predictive performance than other single models;2)VMD can significantly improve the predictive performance of the ICA-GMDH-BILSTM-ELMAN model.The effect of VMD method is better than that of EEMD method and FEEMD method.To conclude,the proposed model which is made up of the VMD method,the ICA method,the BILSTM network,the GMDH network and the ELMAN network has excellent predictive ability for traffic flow series. 展开更多

Fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs), unlike steel, are corrosion-resistant and therefore are of interest;however, their use is hindered because their brittle shear is formulated in most specifications using limited data available at the time. We aimed to predict the shear strength of concrete beams reinforced with FRP bars and without stirrups by compiling a relatively large database of 198 previously published test results (available in appendix). To model shear strength, an artificial neural network was trained by an ensemble of Levenberg-Marquardt and imperialist competitive algorithms. The results suggested superior accuracy of model compared to equations available in specifications and literature. 展开更多

The condition of weightes non-dictatorship is extended and a comprehensive evaluae method emboding self-determinate which is combined with competitive view optimization principles is built. The basic process includes simulating the model of economic man's self-benefit bahaviors, taking the place of experts to evaluate, bringing in the model of minimizing the sum of included angles to integrate the information of multiple objects and put the objects in order finally. The method has the advangtages of less dependendence on the subjective information, plenty of information, fair process and simple caculating. Finally, an application example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

For China, the import output is number one, and the export output is the forth. For this reason, the soybean industry of China got a huge lash, and the soybean farmers got a large loss, it influenced the building of new countryside construction in China. Both U.S.A's soybean output and trade amour are the number one in the world, this achievement should be contributed to U.S.A's advanced production ability and its favorable subsidy policies. Contrary to U.S.A's large subsidy and cheap loan, Brazil and Argentina raise their soybean output and trade amount by high production technology and "untying" policies, such as abolishing some unreasonable rules and tax. So if we want to develop Chinese soybean industry and make sure our soybean industry's safety, it's necessary for us to experience soybean industry development of other countries' and improve ours 展开更多
