Therefore, it is necessary to understand the dust explosion characteristics of energetic materials and the mechanism of dust explosion. According to the literature review, among various influencing factors, the physical and chemical properties of dust are the decisive factors affecting the explosion characteristics of dust. In addition to experimental studies, numerical simulation is another important tool. However, it is subjected to certain limitations. Moreover, it is essential but challenging to fully understand the underlying mechanism. In addition, given the safety hazards posed by dust explosion, explosion suppression has attracted extensive attention for research. Depending on the medium used, there are different forms of suppression, including powder explosion suppression, water spray explosion suppression, inert gas explosion suppression, porous material explosion suppression, and vacuum chamber explosion suppression. As for the selection of explosion suppression agent, consideration must be given to the characteristics of the material. Furthermore, the above research has laid a foundation for discussing the future progress in studying dust explosion of energetic materials, with nano dust and the constraints of existing technology as the focal point.展开更多
Ventilation systems are critical for improving the cabin environment in high-speed trains,and their interest has increased significantly.However,whether air supply non-verticality deteriorates the cabin air environmen...Ventilation systems are critical for improving the cabin environment in high-speed trains,and their interest has increased significantly.However,whether air supply non-verticality deteriorates the cabin air environment,and the flow mechanism behind it and the degree of deterioration are not known.This study first analyzes the interaction between deflection angle and cabin flow field characteristics and ventilation performance.The results revealed that the interior temperature and pollutant concentration decreased slightly with increasing deflection angle,but resulted in significant deterioration of thermal comfort and air quality.This is evidenced by an increase in both draught rate and non-uniformity coefficient,an increase in the number of measurement points that do not satisfy the micro-wind speed and temperature difference requirements by about 5% and 15%,respectively,and an increase in longitudinal penetration of pollutants by a factor of about 5 and the appearance of locking regions at the ends of cabin.The results also show that changing the deflection pattern only affects the region of deterioration and does not essentially improve this deterioration.This study can provide reference and help for the ventilation design of high-speed trains.展开更多
According to the recently developed single-trough floating machine with the world's largest volume(inflatable mechanical agitation flotation machine with volume of 320 m3) in China, the gas-fluid two-phase flow in...According to the recently developed single-trough floating machine with the world's largest volume(inflatable mechanical agitation flotation machine with volume of 320 m3) in China, the gas-fluid two-phase flow in flotation cell was simulated using computational fluid dynamics method. It is shown that hexahedral mesh scheme is more suitable for the complex structure of the flotation cell than tetrahedral mesh scheme, and a mesh quality ranging from 0.7 to 1.0 is obtained. Comparative studies of the standard k-ε, k-ω and realizable k-ε turbulence models were carried out. It is indicated that the standard k-ε turbulence model could give a result relatively close to the practice and the liquid phase flow field is well characterized. In addition, two obvious recirculation zones are formed in the mixing zones, and the pressure on the rotor and stator is well characterized. Furthermore, the simulation results using improved standard k-ε turbulence model show that surface tension coefficient of 0.072, drag model of Grace and coefficient of 4, and lift coefficient of 0.001 can be achieved. The research results suggest that gas-fluid two-phase flow in large flotation cell can be well simulated using computational fluid dynamics method.展开更多

Different turbulence models, including the S-A, SKE, RNG, Realizable, Low-KE and RSM model, were evaluated, and the CFD results were compared with wind tunnel experiment. The effects of the water body were detected by analyzing the water vapor distribution around it. It is found that the RNG model is the most effective model in terms of accuracy and computational economy. Next, the RNG model was used to simulate four waterfront planning cases to predict the wind, thermal and moisture environment in urban areas around urban water bodies. The results indicate that the building distribution, especially the height of the frontal building, has a larger effect on the water vapor dispersion, and indicate that the column-type distribution has a better performance than the enclosed-type distribution.展开更多
To research the characteristics of vented explosion of methane-air mixture in the pipeline,coal mine tunnel or other closed space,the experiments and numerical simulations were carried out.In this work,explosion chara...To research the characteristics of vented explosion of methane-air mixture in the pipeline,coal mine tunnel or other closed space,the experiments and numerical simulations were carried out.In this work,explosion characteristics and flame propagation characteristics of methane in pipeline and coal mine tunnel are studied by using an explosion test system,combined with FLACS software,under different vented conditions.The numerical simulation results of methane explosion are basically consistent with the physical experiment results,which indicates that the numerical simulation for methane explosion is reliable to be applied to the practice.The results show that explosion parameters(pressure,temperature and product concentration)of methane at five volume fractions have the same change trend.Nevertheless,the explosion intension of 10.0%methane is the largest and that of 9.5%methane is relatively weak,followed by 11.0%methane,8.0%methane and 7.0%methane respectively.Under different vented conditions,the pressure and temperature of methane explosion are the highest in the pipeline without a vent,followed by the pipeline where ignition or vent position is in each end,and those are the lowest in the pipeline with ignition and vent at the same end.There is no significant effect on final product concentration of methane explosion under three vented conditions.For coal mine tunnel,it is indicated that the maximum explosion pressure at the airproof wall in return airway with the branch roadway at 50 m from goaf is significantly decreased while that in intake airway does not change overwhelmingly.In addition,when the branch roadway is longer or its section is larger,the peak pressure of airproof wall reduces slightly.展开更多
The main objectives were to (1) calculate the total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) inhalation dose, (2) analyze the proportions of human’s inhaled contaminant dose from different sources, and (3) present a newly ...The main objectives were to (1) calculate the total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) inhalation dose, (2) analyze the proportions of human’s inhaled contaminant dose from different sources, and (3) present a newly defined ratio of relative inhalation dose level (RIDL) to assess indoor air quality (IAQ). A user defined function based on CFD (computational fluid dynamics) was developed, which integrated human motion model with TVOCs emission model in a high sidewall air supply ventilation mode. Based on simulation results of 10 cases, it is shown that the spatial concentration distribution of TVOCs is affected by human motion. TVOCs diffusion characteristic of building material is the most effective way to impact the TVOCs inhalation dose. From the RIDL index, case A-2 has the most serious IAQ problem, while case D-1 is of the best IAQ.展开更多
