The 3-D velocity tomography image of the central-eastern part of Qilianshan is obtained by the joint inversion of 3-D velocity structure and focal parameters based on the S-P data of micro-earthquakes recorded by the digital seismic network set up for a Sino-French cooperation program since 1996. The inversed velocity structure does primarily reflect some important features of the deep structure in the region and provide the scientific background for the further study of active tectonic structure and the calculation of earthquake parameters. 展开更多

The aim of this work is to develop a three-dimensional model of deep groove ball bearing to investigate the loaded stresses and central displacements of bearing rings. The equivalent stresses and central displacements of bearing rings are obtained based on the simulated analysis. Moreover, several parameters, such as load magnitude, raceway groove curvature radius(RGCR), thicknesses of outer and inner rings, are varied to investigate their effects on the equivalent stresses and central displacements of bearing rings. Research results provide useful guidelines for determining the design parameters. 展开更多

This paper presented a preliminary research on the central solar heating system with seasonal storage(CSHSSS)used in cold climate in China.A mathematical model of the solar energy seasonal storage water tank used in the central solar heating system was firstly developed based on energy conservation. This was followed by the simulation of the CSHSSS used in a two-floor villa in Harbin, and analysis of the impacts on storage water temperature of tank volume, solar collector area, tank burial depth, insulation thickness around the tank, etc. The results show there is a relatively economical tank volume to optimize the system efficiency, which decreases with increasing tank volume at the constant collector area, and increases with increasing collector area at the constant tank volume.Furthermore, the insulation thickness has obvious effect on avoiding heat loss, while the tank burial depth doesn't.In addition, the relationship between the solar collector efficiency and storage water temperature is also obtained,it decreases quickly with increasing storing water temperature, and then increases slowly after starting space heating system. These may be helpful for relevant design and optimization in cold climates in China and all over the world. 展开更多

The central buckle, which is often used in a suspension bridge, can improve bridges' performance in the actual operation condition. The influence of the central buckle on natural vibration characteristics and bridge-deck driving comfort of a long-span suspension bridge is studied by using a case study of Siduhe Suspension Bridge in China. Based on the finite element software ANSYS and independently complied program, the influence of the central buckle on the structure force-applied characteristics of a long-span suspension bridge has been explored. The results show that the huge increases of natural frequencies can result in the presence of central buckles because of the increases of bending and torsional rigidities. The central buckle basically makes the stiffening girders and cables within the triangular area covered as a relatively approximate rigid area. Hence, the central buckle can reduce the torsional displacement of the main girder. However, the increases of bending and torsional rigidities have little influence on the impact factor, which is obtained by using vehicle-bridge coupled vibration analysis. This means that the central buckle has little effect on the comfort indices. In addition, it is found that the central buckle can enhance the bridge deck's driving stability due to the decrease of the torsional displacements of the main girder. 展开更多

The Alpine zone of Central Pamir is elongated in sublatitudinal direction between the Hercynians of Northern Pamir and the Cimmerians of Southern Pamir south of the Vanch\|Akbaital thrust. Its western continuation is overthrusted by the Herat fault and its eastern continuation is cut by the Karakoram strike\|slip fault.. The Central Pamir is a mainly S\|vergent (at the southern part N\|vergent) Alpine nappe stack then folding in antiform. It comprises deposits from Vendian to Neogene which have a thickness of 10km. Paleozoic and Mesozoic tectonic activity was poorly displaied in its limits. Rifting took place in Early and probably Upper Paleozoic. Pre\|Upper Cretaceous unconformity is known only in southern (autochthonous) part of the Zone as a result of closing of Bangong\|Nu Jiang ocean. In northern (allochthonous) part of the zone the sequence of Mesozoic and Paleogene rocks has no unconformities. Alpine endogenous processes were developed very intensively. They implied nappes and imbricate structures, linear folding, different igneous activity, zonal metamorphism. Slices of pyroxenites and gabbroids occured. Calc\|alkaline lavas and tuffs constitutes the major part of Paleocene to Miocene sequence (andesites\|ryolites\|in Paleogene, alkaline basalts in Oligocene—Miocene). Oligocene—Miocene zonal metamorphic belt of the intermediate type of high pressure including series of granitegneiss domes can be traced along the Central Pamir. Cores of domes include migmatites and remobilized bodies of the Early Paleozoic gneissic granites. The decompression took place at a later stage and rocks were overprinted by the andalusite\|sillimanite type metamorphism.. Syenite and leucogranite bodies, pegmatite and aplite veins were emplaced. 展开更多

The Altyn Tagh fault (ATF) extending in NEE—SWW direction lying at the northwestern boundary of Qinghai—Tibet plateau is the largest strike\|slip fault in Central Asia. On the basis of recent geologic mapping and detailed study of lithotectonic characteristics for the paleotectonic units at the two sides of the Altyn Tagh Fault ( Altun Mt. to west and the Qilian Mt. to east ) we propose that the paleotectonic units in the Altun Mt. can be correlated with those in the Qilian Mt. assuming 400km left\|lateral displacement for the Altyn Tagh fault. Natural seismic data across the Altun Mt. indicate that the Altyn Tagh fault is a lithospheric shear fault and the lithospheric shearing is probably related to southward intracontinental oblique subduction of the Tarim terrane beneath the Altun Mt.1\ Comparison of the major paleotectonic units at the two sides of the Altyn Tagh fault\;(1) The Alxa\|Dunhuang Massif:The Alxa massif lying at the southern margin of the Sino\|Korean craton consists mainly of an Early Proterozoic basement including high\|grade and middle\|grade metamorphic rocks, which were intruded by granite at 1719Ma. The Lunggar iron deposit belongs to the Bangong-Nujiang metallogenic belt and is located in central Lhasa on the Tibetan Plateau. In the Lunggar deposit, iron mineralization formed in the skarnization contact zone between the Early Cretaceous granodiorite and the late Permian Xiala Formation limestone. In this study,we achieved detailed zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopes and mineral chemistry for the Early Cretaceous granodiorite.Zircon U-Pb dating results indicate that the Early Cretaceous granodiorite emplaced at ca.119 Ma.Based on the trace elements in zircons and the mineral chemical composition of amphibole and biotite, the Early Cretaceous granodiorite was believed to form under condition of high temperature(>700°C),low pressure(100400 MPa),and relatively high oxygen fugacity(lgfO2)(13.6 to 13.9)and H2O content(4%8%).Zircon trace elements,Hf isotope and biotite chemistry collectively reveal that significant juvenile mantle-derived magmas contributed to the source of the granodiorite. The relatively high logfO2 and shallow magma chamber are beneficial for skarn iron mineralization, implying remarkable potential for further prospecting in the Lunggar iron deposit. 展开更多

As part of the mosaic of micro-continents within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB), the Xing’anAirgin Sum Block(XAB) features increasingly-recognized Meso-Neoproterozoic geological records. However, the origin, temporal-spatial distribution of ancient materials, and their roles in crust evolution remain to debate. This paper presents an integrated study of zircon U-Pb ages and Hf-O isotopes for Mesoproterozoic and Paleozoic granites from the Erenhot region of central Inner Mongolia, along eastern CAOB. The intrusion of 1450 Ma syenogranite denotes that the Precambrian basement of XAB extends from Sonid Zuoqi westward to Erenhot. The 384 and 281 Ma monzogranites containing Mesoproterozoic xenocrystic zircons possess Proterozoic-dominant two-stage Hf model ages, further suggesting the wide existence of Proterozoic crust beneath western XAB. Cyclic Proterozoic crustal growth and reworking seem to show close linkages with the orogenesis during relevant supercontinent cycles. 1450-1360 Ma juvenile crustal growth at Erenhot and synchronous ancient crust reworking at Sonid Zuoqi and Abagaqi were likely resulted from retreating subduction involved in Columbia breakup, while 1.2-1.0 Ga reworking and 0.9-0.7 Ga growth events within the Erenhot basement might respond to assembly and breakup of Rodinia, respectively. Besides, our work confirms that reworking of Neoproterozoic crust played important roles during Paleozoic multi-stage accretion of CAOB. 展开更多

The Himalaya, a fold\|and\|thrust belt in the northern margin of the Indian continent, is characterized by thrust tectoncis (Schelling and Arita, 1991). It consists mainly of three thrust\|bounded lithotectonic units: from south to north the Sub\|Himalayan imbricate zone, the Lesser Himalayan thrust package (LH) and the Higher Himalayan thrust sheet (HH) with the overlying Tethys Himalayan sequence. These units are separated by a series of propagated thrusts, i.e. from south to north the Himalayan Frontal Fault (HFF), Main Boundary Thrust (MBT) and Main Central Thrust (MCT). These thrusts are splays off of an underlying mid\|crustal subhorizontal d$B;D(Jollement (Main Detachmen Trust or Main Himalayan Thrust), and were propagated southward with time. Among these thrusts the MCT is most important intracrustal thrust in considering the geological evolution of the Himalaya, and is controversial regarding its location and nature. In western and eastern Nepal the Higher Himalayan Crystalline sheet is thrust over the Lesser Himalayan rocks along the MCT. In the Kathmandu area of central Nepal also the high\|grade rocks of the HH with the overlying Tethyan sediments covers southward the Lesser Himalayan rocks, and form the Kathmandu nappe. In the north of the Kathmandu nappe the Higher Himalayan crystallines are skirted by the Main Central Thrust zone (MCT zone) which consists of green and black phyllites with sporadic garnet snow\|ball garnet and calcareous schist associated with characteristic mylonitic augen gneiss. The southern margin of the nappe is bounded by the Mahabharat Thrust (MT: Stoecklin, 1990) with a narrow zone of the LH which is cut by the MBT. But the relationship of the MCT in the north and the MT in the south is disputable and important (Arita et al., 1997: Rai et al., 1998: Upreti and Le Fort, 1999), and in the margin of the Kathmandu nappe the MCT zone has not been confirmed. 展开更多

The Siwalik Belt is a frontal fold\|thrust belt of the Himalayas and composed of thick sequence of foreland basin sediments derived from the Himalayas during the last 15 to 17 million years. From this Miocene belt in the central Nepal,we discovered exotic thrust packages of the Middle Proterozoic rocks, which has been regarded as the Siwalik Group or post\|collisional sediments correlatable with the Subathu or Murree Formation in India. The thrust belt, called the Bagmati Belt,is narrowly distributed in the Siwalik Belt,22km to the north of the Main Frontal Thrust (MFT or HFF) that is an active fault and considered to be the deformation front of the Himalayan orogen. The Main Boundary Thrust (MBT) which separates the Siwalik Belt from the Lesser Himalayan Belt runs 7km to the north of the thrust packages.Within the belt, tectonic slices of 400m to 1km in thickness are repeated three to five times due to thrusts, sandwiching a thin slice of the Siwalik beds. The thrust package consists of the pre\|Siwalik sedimetary rocks and sills of dolerite, and named as the Bagmati Group. The thickness is only about 800m due to tectonic repition by thrust, although the group has been considered to be a continuous sequence attaining 2200m in thickness. We divided the Bagmati Group into three formations, each of which shows an upward\|coarsening and thickening sequence of 200 to 350m in thickness. All sequence is composed of red\|brown orthoquartzite, pink quartzite, micaceous shale and thin sandstone interbed and rhythmite, mottled hematite and hematitic pisolite. We interpret that the Bagmati Group was deposited in shallow lacustrine and desert environments. 展开更多

The Kathmandu valley is an intermountain basin located at about 1300 and surounded by mountains around 2400m.Thick fluvio\|lacustrine sediments from late Pliocene to Quaternary are accumulated there under monsoon climate. We undertook palynological and sedimentological studies on 284\|m\|long drilled core that reaches the basement of the kathmandu basin,in order to clarify the paleoclimatic changes and their tectonic link with uplifting of the Himalayas..The core is lithologically divided into three members:sand predominant lower member (51m),slit and clay dominant middle member (182m) and organic silty clay predominant upper member (45m).We analyzed fossil pollens contained in muddy samples which were taken from the middle and upper member in every one meter interval. The pollen assemblage is characterized by predominance of \%Quercus,\%30%~80% of the all arboreal pollen. We inferred paleoclimatic changes on the basis of comparison between present vegetation and climate of Kathmandu valley and surrounded mountains and pollen diagram which we obtained. For the purpose of inference of paleoclimate,we used the following genera as climatic index:\%Pinus\% for cold climate, \%Quercus\% and \%Cyclobalanopsis\% for warm climate, Alnus for wet climate and Gramineae for dry climate. As the reference.we also examined amount of another eight genera, two family and all spores. The pollen diagram shows two pattern of paleoclimatic changes:oscillation pattern with seven times fluctuation of warm and cold climate in younger period (ca.115m in depth),and older less fluctuated pattern of warm climate.During the older period (209~215m in depth),one cold stage was recognized, and is characterized by predominance of Pinus and occurrence of Tsuga . 展开更多

As a part of INDEPTH 3/GEODEPTH geological surface investigations were carried out during two field campaigns in 1998 and 1999. The working area covers a roughly N\|S (30~36°N) tren ding, 200km wide belt through the Lhasa Terrane and Qiangtang Terrane at a longitude of 88~90°E. Field geology was focused on geological mapping, structural measurements, and extensive sampling for the purpose of fission track geochronology. Additionally a total number of 742 orientated palaeomagnetic samples were drilled at 73 sites. Most of the samples were taken in fine\|grained sediments of Cretaceous, Eocene, and Neogene age. Five sites were drilled in acid to intermediate volcanics.A first sequence of measurements has been applied on a set of specimen. Most of the chosen formations (>80%) have acquired stable remanences which are carried by hematite and magnetite. As an example for the characteristic demagnetising behaviour of fine\|grained probable Cretaceous sandstones see Fig.1a. The unblocking temperature of 650℃ allows to identify hematite as remanence carrier.. Although single sites show well\|defined mean directions (e.g. site 76B: α 95 =3 8; k =185 8) the distribution among several site means of one formation could scatter (Fig.1b). It has to be checked carefully if rotations of single crustal elements are responsible for this effect. There is evidence to assume the detected characteristic remanences to be primary—further analysis including fold tests will be performed after the data set has increased. 展开更多
