The preparation of large crystals is highly important for the characterization and application of a newly found structure but remains a challenge for one-dimensional(1D)C_(60) polymers.In this work,we successfully fab...The preparation of large crystals is highly important for the characterization and application of a newly found structure but remains a challenge for one-dimensional(1D)C_(60) polymers.In this work,we successfully fabricated a 1D C_(60) polymer crystal via on-site annealing of a millimeter-sized C_(60) molecular crystal withα-Li_(3)N at 500°C and ambient pres�sure.Characterizations show that the C_(60) cages in the crystal have been efficiently connected,forming 1D chains along the<110>direction in an orthorhombic 3D structure.At the same time,the crystal maintains a morphology similar to that of the pristine C_(60)crystal,providing opportunities for characterization of all the facets of the crystal via Raman spectroscopy and thus suggesting the formation mechanism of such crystals.展开更多
The ability of water soluble β alanine C 60 adducts for superoxide anion radical scavenging has been studied by spectrophotometry and the modified pyrogallol auto oxidation method. It is found that β alanine C 60 ad...The ability of water soluble β alanine C 60 adducts for superoxide anion radical scavenging has been studied by spectrophotometry and the modified pyrogallol auto oxidation method. It is found that β alanine C 60 adducts have an excellent efficiency in eliminating superoxide radical generated from auto oxidation of pyrogallol. At a mass concentration level of 150 μg/mL for β alanine C 60 adducts, the radical scavenging efficiency is approximately equivalent to one enzyme unit, in vitro experiments show that β alanine C 60 adducts can enhance the activity of mouse thymus cells and prolong their life time span. It reveals the potential use of these β alanine C 60 adducts as the novel potent free radical scavengers in biological systems.展开更多

The temperature-dependent solubillty of C60 displays the anomalous behavior. A solubility maximum of C60 around O℃ for toluene and CS2, and around 30℃ for o-xylene was observed. The temperature-dependent solu bility of C70 displays the normal behavior in the same solvents.展开更多
