Urban tree species provide various essential ecosystem services in cities,such as regulating urban temperatures,reducing noise,capturing carbon,and mitigating the urban heat island effect.The quality of these services is influenced by species diversity,tree health,and the distribution and the composition of trees.Traditionally,data on urban trees has been collected through field surveys and manual interpretation of remote sensing images.In this study,we evaluated the effectiveness of multispectral airborne laser scanning(ALS)data in classifying 24 common urban roadside tree species in Espoo,Finland.Tree crown structure information,intensity features,and spectral data were used for classification.Eight different machine learning algorithms were tested,with the extra trees(ET)algorithm performing the best,achieving an overall accuracy of 71.7%using multispectral LiDAR data.This result highlights that integrating structural and spectral information within a single framework can improve the classification accuracy.Future research will focus on identifying the most important features for species classification and developing algorithms with greater efficiency and accuracy. 展开更多

Airborne area-array whisk-broom imaging systems typically adopt constant-speed scanning schemes.For large-inertia scanning systems,constant-speed scanning requires substantial time to complete the reversal motion,reducing the system's adaptability to high-speed reversal scanning and decreasing scanning efficiency.This study proposes a novel sinusoidal variable-speed roll scanning strategy,which reduces abrupt changes in speed and acceleration,minimizing time loss during reversals.Based on the forward image motion compensation strategy in the pitch direction,we establish a line-of-sight(LOS)position calculation model with vertical flight path correction(VFPC),ensuring that the central LOS of the scanned image remains stable on the same horizontal line,facilitating accurate image stitching in whisk-broom imaging.Through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments,the proposed method improves the scanning efficiency by approximately 18.6%at a 90o whiskbroom imaging angle under the same speed height ratio conditions.The new VFPC method enables wide-field,high-resolution imaging,achieving single-line LOS horizontal stability with an accuracy of better than O.4 mrad.The research is of great significance to promote the further development of airborne area-array whisk-broom imaging technology toward wider fields of view,higher speed height ratios,and greater scanning efficiency. 展开更多

To validate the potential space-time adaptive processing (STAP) algorithms for airborne bistatic radar clutter suppression under nonstationary and non-Gaussian clutter environments, a statistically non-Gaussian, space-time clutter model in varying bistatic geometrical scenarios is presented. The inclusive effects of the model contain the range dependency of bistatic clutter spectrum and clutter power variation in range-angle cells. To capture them, a new approach to coordinate system conversion is initiated into formulating bistatic geometrical model, and the bistatic non-Gaussian amplitude clutter representation method based on a compound model is introduced. The veracity of the geometrical model is validated by using the bistatic configuration parameters of multi-channel airborne radar measurement (MCARM) experiment. And simulation results manifest that the proposed model can accurately shape the space-time clutter spectrum tied up with specific airborne bistatic radar scenario and can characterize the heterogeneity of clutter amplitude distribution in practical clutter environments. 展开更多

Airborne electromagnetic transient method enjoys the advantages of high-efficiency and the high resolution of electromagnetic anomalies,especially suitable for mining detection around goaf areas and deep exploration of minerals.In this paper,we calculated the full-wave airborne transient electromagnetic data,according to the result of numerical research,the advantage of switch-off time response in electromagnetic detection was proofed via experiments.Firstly,based on the full-wave airborne transient electromagnetic system developed by Jilin University(JLU-ATEMI),we proposed a method to compute the full-waveform electromagnetic(EM)data of 3D model using the FDTD approach and convolution algorithm,and verify the calculation by the response of homogenous half-space.Then,through comparison of switch-off-time response and off-time response,we studied the effect of ramp time on anomaly detection.Finally,we arranged two experimental electromagnetic detection,the results indicated that the switch-off-time response can reveal the shallow target more effectively,and the full-waveform airborne electromagnetic system is an effective technique for shallow target detection. 展开更多

It can effectively detect a target with low sample support. Compared with its natural competitors, the novel detector has higher proba- bility of detection (PD), especially when the number of the training data is low. Main lobe jamming seriously affects the detection performance of airborne early warning radar.The joint processing of polarization-space has become an effective way to suppress the main lobe jamming.To avoid the main beam distortion and wave crest migration caused by the main lobe jamming in adaptive beamforming,a joint optimization algorithm based on adaptive polarization canceller(APC)and stochastic variance reduction gradient descent(SVRGD)is proposed.First,the polarization plane array structure and receiving signal model based on primary and auxiliary array cancellation are established,and an APC iterative algorithm model is constructed to calculate the optimal weight vector of the auxiliary channel.Second,based on the stochastic gradient descent principle,the variance reduction method is introduced to modify the gradient through internal and external iteration to reduce the variance of the stochastic gradient estimation,the airspace optimal weight vector is calculated and the equivalent weight vector is introduced to measure the beamforming effect.Third,by setting up a planar polarization array simulation scene,the performance of the algorithm against the interference of the main lobe and the side lobe is analyzed,and the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified under the condition of short snapshot number and certain signal to interference plus noise ratio. 展开更多

Airborne LIDAR can flexibly obtain point cloud data with three-dimensional structural information,which can improve its effectiveness of automatic target recognition in the complex environment.Compared with 2D information,3D information performs better in separating objects and background.However,an aircraft platform can have a negative influence on LIDAR obtained data because of various flight attitudes,flight heights and atmospheric disturbances.A structure of global feature based 3D automatic target recognition method for airborne LIDAR is proposed,which is composed of offline phase and online phase.The performance of four global feature descriptors is compared.Considering the summed volume region(SVR) discrepancy in real objects,SVR selection is added into the pre-processing operations to eliminate mismatching clusters compared with the interested target.Highly reliable simulated data are obtained under various sensor’s altitudes,detection distances and atmospheric disturbances.The final experiments results show that the added step increases the recognition rate by above 2.4% and decreases the execution time by about 33%. 展开更多

Ventilation is an effective solution for improving indoor air quality and reducing airborne transmission.Buildings need sufficient ventilation to maintain a low infection risk but also need to avoid an excessive ventilation rate,which may lead to high energy consumption.The Wells-Riley(WR)model is widely used to predict infection risk and control the ventilation rate.However,few studies compared the non-steady-state(NSS)and steady-state(SS)WR models that are used for ventilation control.To fill in this research gap,this study investigates the effects of the mechanical ventilation control strategies based on NSS/SS WR models on the required ventilation rates to prevent airborne transmission and related energy consumption.The modified NSS/SS WR models were proposed by considering many parameters that were ignored before,such as the initial quantum concentration.Based on the NSS/SS WR models,two new ventilation control strategies were proposed.A real building in Canada is used as the case study.The results indicate that under a high initial quantum concentration(e.g.,0.3 q/m^(3))and no protective measures,SS WR control underestimates the required ventilation rate.The ventilation energy consumption of NSS control is up to 2.5 times as high as that of the SS control. 展开更多

Interference suppression is a challenge for radar researchers, especially when mainlobe and sidelobe interference coexist. We present a comprehensive anti-interference approach based on a cognitive bistatic airborne radar. The risk of interception is reduced by lowering the launch energy of the radar transmitting terminal in the direction of interference;main lobe and sidelobe interferences are suppressed via cooperation between the two radars. The interference received by a single radar is extracted from the overall radar signal using multiple signal classification(MUSIC), and the interference is cross-located using two different azimuthal angles. Neural networks allowing good, non-linear nonparametric approximations are used to predict the location of interference, and this information is then used to preset the transmitting notch antenna to reduce the likelihood of interception. To simultaneously suppress mainlobe and sidelobe interferences, a blocking matrix is used to mask mainlobe interference based on azimuthal information, and an adaptive process is used to suppress sidelobe interference. Mainlobe interference is eliminated using the data received by the two radars. Simulation verifies the performance of the model. 展开更多

The evolution of airborne tactical networks(ATNs)is impeded by the network ossification problem.As a solution,network virtualization(NV)can provide a flexible and scalable architecture where virtual network embedding(VNE)is a key part.However,existing VNE algorithms cannot be optimally adopted in the virtualization of ATN due to the complex interference in aircombat field.In this context,a highly reliable VNE algorithm based on the transmission rate for ATN virtualization(TR-ATVNE)is proposed to adapt well to the specific electromagnetic environment of ATN.Our algorithm coordinates node and link mapping.In the node mapping,transmission-rate resource is firstly defined to effectively evaluate the ranking value of substrate nodes under the interference of both environmental noises and enemy attacks.Meanwhile,a feasible splitting rule is proposed for path splitting in the link mapping,considering the interference between wireless links.Simulation results reveal that our algorithm is able to improve the acceptance ratio of virtual network requests while maintaining a high revenue-to-cost ratio under the complex electromagnetic interference. 展开更多

The airborne conformal array(CFA)radar's clutter ridges are range-modulated,which result in a bias in the estimation of the clutter covariance matrix(CCM)of the cell under test(CUT),further,reducing the clutter suppression performance of the airborne CFA radar.The clutter ridges can be effectively compensated by the space-time separation interpolation(STSINT)method,which costs less computation than the space-time interpolation(STINT)method,but the performance of interpolation algorithms is seriously affected by the short-range clutter,especially near the platform height.Location distributions of CFA are free,which yields serious impact that range spaces of steering vector matrices are non-orthogonal complement and even no longer disjoint.Further,a new method is proposed that the shortrange clutter is pre-processed by oblique projection with the intersected range spaces(OPIRS),and then clutter data after being pre-processed are compensated to the desired range bin through the STSINT method.The OPIRS also has good compatibility and can be used in combination with many existing methods.At the same time,oblique projectors of OPIRS can be obtained in advance,so the proposed method has almost the same computational load as the traditional compensation method.In addition,the proposed method can perform well when the channel error exists.Computer simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

Long-term indoor-air limit for formaldehyde stipulated by the European Commission is 1 μg/m3,while the World Health Organization has set a threshold of 100 μg/m3 that should not be exceeded for more than 30 min. To date,however,only a few analytical techniques have been developed that can be used to detect formaldehyde at these very restrictive limits. Thus,there is a need to develop for comprehensive methods for analyzing airborne formaldehyde and other carbonyl pollutants in the ambient environment. The aim of this study is to develop a highly sensitive online automated preconcentration gas chromatographic method using large-volume injection with a programmed temperature vaporization injector for the analysis of airborne formaldehyde and ten other carbonyl compounds. The influence of several parameters,such as the maximum volume injected,programmed temperature vaporization transfer time and temperature,carrier gas flow rate,and type of packing material was investigated. After optimization,highly satisfactory results in terms of the absolute and methodological detection limits were achieved,i. e. as low as the μg/m3 level for all the carbonyl pollutants studied. A commercially available sampler,originally designed for active sampling,was evaluated as a passive sampling device;this optimized technique was applied to monitor the concentrations of carbonyl pollutants in the indoor air of ten public buildings in Florence. The strength of this methodology lies both in the low detection limits reached in the simultaneous analysis of a wide group of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine derivatives,and the potential adaptability of this method to other gas chromatographic applications to achieve lower sensitivity. 展开更多

In this paper,a space-time adaptive processing(STAP)method is proposed for the airborne radar with the array amplitude-phase error considered,which is based on atomic norm minimization(ANM).In the conventional ANM-based STAP method,the influence of the array amplitude-phase error is not considered and restrained,which inevitably causes performance deterioration.To solve this problem,the array amplitude-phase error is firstly estimated.Then,by pre-estimating the array amplitude-phase error information,a modified ANM model is built,in which the array amplitude-phase error factor is separated from the clutter response and the clutter covariance matrix(CCM)to improve the estimation accuracy of the CCM.To prove that the atomic norm theory is applicable in the presence of the array amplitude-phase error,the clutter sparsity is analyzed in this paper.Meanwhile,simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is superior to the state-of-the-art STAP method.Moreover,the measured data is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

A novel method for noise removal from the rotating accelerometer gravity gradiometer(MAGG)is presented.It introduces a head-to-tail data expansion technique based on the zero-phase filtering principle.A scheme for determining band-pass filter parameters based on signal-to-noise ratio gain,smoothness index,and cross-correlation coefficient is designed using the Chebyshev optimal consistent approximation theory.Additionally,a wavelet denoising evaluation function is constructed,with the dmey wavelet basis function identified as most effective for processing gravity gradient data.The results of hard-in-the-loop simulation and prototype experiments show that the proposed processing method has shown a 14%improvement in the measurement variance of gravity gradient signals,and the measurement accuracy has reached within 4E,compared to other commonly used methods,which verifies that the proposed method effectively removes noise from the gradient signals,improved gravity gradiometry accuracy,and has certain technical insights for high-precision airborne gravity gradiometry. 展开更多

Video processing is one challenge in collecting vehicle trajectories from unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) and road boundary estimation is one way to improve the video processing algorithms. However, current methods do not work well for low volume road, which is not well-marked and with noises such as vehicle tracks. A fusion-based method termed Dempster-Shafer-based road detection(DSRD) is proposed to address this issue. This method detects road boundary by combining multiple information sources using Dempster-Shafer theory(DST). In order to test the performance of the proposed method, two field experiments were conducted, one of which was on a highway partially covered by snow and another was on a dense traffic highway. The results show that DSRD is robust and accurate, whose detection rates are 100% and 99.8% compared with manual detection results. Then, DSRD is adopted to improve UAV video processing algorithm, and the vehicle detection and tracking rate are improved by 2.7% and 5.5%,respectively. Also, the computation time has decreased by 5% and 8.3% for two experiments, respectively. 展开更多

Because of its broad spectrum and high efficiency,the microwave disinfection was used to control the airborne microbial contaminates in VAC system.Some microwave disinfection devices were developed combined with air filter,the design and calculation method was presented,and the disinfection effects on White staphylococcus,Staphylococcus aureus,Bacillus Subtilis,Escherichi coli were measured.The results show that the major influence factors on disinfection effect are microwave power,water-content of filter material,disinfecting duration.After 15 min,the kill ratio is >90%,and the log value is >1.The microwave field is uniform and the kill effect of bacteria on each surface of filter is the same,without statistically significant difference. 展开更多

Effect of Grain Dust on Respiratory Symptoms and Lung Function

An epidemiologic health survey was carried out among 314 workers in one of grain elevators in Shenyang.A medical and occupational questionnaire was administered by trained interviewers. Spirometry was performed on site. 61.47% of the grain workers complained of one or more respiratory symptoms during or after exposure to airborne grain dust.The prevalence of various symptoms was significantly higher among grain workers than control subjects. 15.6% of the grain workers had episodes of grain fever. The mean values of V<sub>max75</sub>, V<sub>max50</sub>, and V<sub>max25</sub> was significantly lower for grain workers than control subjects, suggesting that the group of grain workers had evidence of small airway dysfunction. Pulmonary function abnormalities were associated with increased duration of employment in the grain elevator,smoking was also associated with deterioration of respiratory function. 展开更多
