By taking cross-wind forces acting on trains into consideration, a dynamic analysis method of the cross-wind and high-speed train and slab track system was proposed on the basis of the analysis theory of spatial vibration of high-speed train and slab track system. The corresponding computer program was written by FORTRAN language. The dynamic responses of the high-speed train and slab track under cross-wind action were calculated. Meanwhile, the effects of the cross-wind on the dynamic responses of the system were also analyzed. The results show that the cross-wind has a significant influence on the lateral and vertical displacement responses of the car body, load reduction factor and overturning factor. For example, the maximum lateral displacement responses of the car body of the first trailer with and without cross-wind forces are 32.10 and 1.60 mm, respectively. The maximum vertical displacement responses of the car body of the first trailer with and without cross-wind forces are 6.60 and 3.29 mm, respectively. The maximum wheel load reduction factors of the first trailer with and without cross-wind forces are 0.43 and 0.22, respectively. The maximum overturning factors of the first trailer with and without cross-wind forces are 0.28 and 0.08, respectively. The cross-wind affects the derailment factor and lateral Sperling factor of the moving train to a certain extent. However, the lateral and vertical displacement responses of rails with the crnss-wind are almost the same as those without the cross-wind. The method presented and the corresponding computer program can be used to calculate the interaction between trains and track in cross-wind. 展开更多

To investigate the effects of sudden change in wind loads on the running performance of trains on the bridge in crosswinds,a highway-railway one-story bridge was taken as the research object.Aerodynamic coefficients of the train and the bridge were measured in a series of train-bridge system segment models through wind tunnel tests when two trains passed each other on the bridge and when a train entered and left the wind barrier section of the bridge.Based on the improved SIMPACK and ANSYS rigid-flexible coupling simulation method,a wind-double train-track-bridge system coupled vibration model was established. The dynamic responses of the train were analyzed under the effects of sudden change in wind loads caused by two trains passing each other and a train entering and leaving the wind barrier section of the bridge. The results show that the effects of sudden wind load change caused by the trains passing each other had less effects on the running safety of the leeward-side train than the wind shielding effect caused by the windward-side train in the wind speed range of 10−25 m/s.With the decrease in the porosity of wind barriers, the effects of the sudden wind load change played an increasingly important role in the running safety and comfort of the train. With the increase in wind speed, the lateral response of the train increased obviously because of the effects of sudden wind load change, which affects both the lateral running stability and the comfort of the train. 展开更多

Most of modern tall buildings using lighter construction materials with high strength and less stiffness are more flexible, which occurs excessive wind-induced vibration, resulting in occupant discomfort and structural unsafety. It is necessary to predict wind-induced vibration response and find out a method to mitigate such an excessive wind-induced vibration at the preliminary design stage. Recently, many studies have been conducted in using actuator control force based on the linear quadratic optimum control algorithm. It was accepted as a common knowledge that the performance of passive tuned mass damper(TMD) could increase by incorporating a feedback active control force in the design of TMD, which is called active tuned mass damper(ATMD). However, the fact that ATMD is superior to TMD to reduce wind-induced vibration of a tall building is still a question. The effectiveness of TMD for mitigating the along-wind vibration of a tall building was investigated. Optimum parameters of tuning frequency and damping ratio for TMD under a random load which has a white noise spectra were used. Fluctuating along-wind load acting on a tall building treated as a stationary Gaussian random process was simulated numerically using the along-wind load spectra. And using this simulated along-wind load, along-wind responses of a tall building with and without TMD were calculated and the effectiveness of TMD in mitigating the along-wind response of a tall building was found out. 展开更多

Traditional gust load factor(GLF)method, inertial wind load(IWL)method and tri-component method(LRC+IWL)cannot accurately analyze the wind-induced responses of super-large cooling towers,so the real combination formulas of fluctuating wind-induced responses and equivalent static wind loads(ESWLSs)were derived based on structural dynamics and random vibration theory. The consistent coupled method(CCM)was presented to compensate the coupled term between background and resonant response.Taking the super-large cooling tower(H=215 m)of nuclear power plant in Jiangxi Province,China, which is the highest and largest in China,as the example, based on modified equivalent beam-net design method, the aero-elastic model for simultaneous pressure and vibration measurement of super-large cooling tower is firstly carried out. Then, combining wind tunnel test and CCM,the effects of self-excited force on the surface pressures and wind-induced responses are discussed, and the wind-induced response characteristics of background component, resonant component, coupled term between background and resonant response, fluctuating responses, and wind vibration coefficients are discussed. It can be concluded that wind-induced response mechanism must be understood to direct the wind resistant design for super-large cooling towers. 展开更多

Most modern tall buildings using lighter construction materials are more flexible, which can lead to excessive wind-induced vibrations resulting in occupant discomfort and structural unsafety. It is necessary to predict and mitigate such wind-induced vibration at the preliminary design stage. Fluctuating across and along-wind loads acting on a tall building that could not be formulated theoretically were simulated numerically in the time domain using known across and along-wind load spectra. These simulated wind loads were used to estimate the across and along-wind responses of a tall building, which are less narrow-banded processes, based on the state space variable approach. The simulated across-wind response of root-mean-square value(0.0047) and that of KAREEM's(0.0040) and the simulated along-wind response of root-mean-square value(0.021) and that of SOLARI's(0.027) were compared. It is found that these are good approximations of closed form responses. Therefore, these numerically simulated across and along-wind loads can be used for across and along-wind responses estimation for the wind-resistant design of a tall building at the preliminary design stage. 展开更多
