The control system takes account of the uncertain influence induced by model perturbation, external disturbance, etc. By introducing the Serret-Frenet frame and global coordinate transformation, the control problem of underactuated system(a nonlinear system with single-input and ternate-output) is transformed into the control problem of actuated system(a single-input and single-output nonlinear system), which simplifies the controller design. A backstepping adaptive sliding mode controller(BADSMC)is proposed based on backstepping design technique, adaptive method and theory of dynamic slide model control(DSMC). Then, it is proven that the state of closed loop system is globally stabilized to the desired configuration with the proposed controller. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.展开更多

The excavator is being developed to dig trenches autonomously. One stumbling block is the achievement of adequate, accurate, quick and smooth movement under automatic control. Here, both classical and modern approaches are considered, including proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control tuned by conventional Zigler-Nichols rules, linear proportional-integral-plus (PIP) control, and a novel nonlinear PIP controller based on a state-dependent parameter (SDP) model structure,in which the parameters are functionally dependent on other variables in the system. Implementation results for the excavator joint arms control demonstrate that SDP-PIP controller provides the improved performance with fast, smooth and accurate response in comparison with both PID and linearized PIP control.展开更多

Firstly, the mathematical model of levitation modules is developed and the advantages of the control scheme with magnetic flux feedback are analyzed when compared with the current feedback. Then, a backstepping controller with magnetic flux feedback based on the mathematical model of levitation module is developed. To obtain magnetic flux signals for full-size maglev system, a physical method with induction coils installed to winding of the electromagnet is developed. Furthermore, to avoid its hardware addition, a novel conception of virtual magnetic flux feedback is proposed. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed controller, the nonlinear dynamic model of full-size maglev train with quintessential details is developed. Based on the nonlinear model, the numerical comparisons and related experimental validations are carried out. Finally, results illustrating closed-loop performance are provided.展开更多

The nonlinear trajectory tracking control system of a new AUV in complex sea conditions was presented. According to the theory of submarines, the six-DOF kinematic and dynamic models were decomposed into two mutually non-coupled vertical and horizontal plane subsystems. Then, different sliding mode control algorithms were used to study the trajectory tracking control. Because the yaw angle and yaw angle rate rather than the displacement of the new AUV can be measured directly on the horizontal plane, the sliding mode control algorithm combining cross track error method and line of sight method was used to fulfill its high-precision trajectory tracking control in the complex sea conditions. As the vertical displacement of the new AUV can be measured,in order to achieve the tracking of time-varying depth signal,a stable sliding mode controller was designed based on the single-input multi-state system, which took into account the characteristic of the hydroplane and the amplitude and rate constraints of the hydroplane angle. Moreover, the application of dynamic boundary layer can improve the robustness and control accuracy of the system. The computational results show that the designed sliding mode control systems of the horizontal and vertical planes can ensure the trajectory tracking performance and accuracy of the new AUV in complex sea conditions. The impacts of currents and waves on the sliding mode controller of the new AUV were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by comparing the trajectory tracking performance of the new AUV in different sea conditions, which provides an effective theoretical guidance and technical support for the control system design of the new AUV in real complex environment.展开更多

A robust adaptive neural network controller (RANNC) for electrode regulator system was proposed. Artificial neural networks were established to learn the system dynamics. The nonlinear control law was derived directly based on an input-output approximating method via the Taylor expansion, which avoids complex control development and intensive computation. The stability of the closed-loop system was established by the Lyapunov method. The current fluctuation relative percentage is less than ±8% and heating rate is up to 6.32 ℃/min when the proposed controller is used. The experiment results show that the proposed control scheme is better than inverse neural network controller (INNC) and PID controller (PIDC).展开更多

The control law adapts fast and tracks the reference system with the guaranteed robustness and transient performance in the presence of unmatched uncertainties. The interval analysis is used to build the quasi-linear parameter-varying model of unmatched nonlinear system, and the robust stability of the proposed controller is addressed by sum of squares programming. The transient performance analysis shows that within the limit of hardware a large adaption gain can improve the asymptotic tracking performance.
