However, they usually suffer from bad delay performance. In this paper, we seek to improve the delay performance under ensuring video display quality stemming from chunk scheduling. And so we model Pull-based chunk scheduling problem as a multi-objective optimization problem to minimize the video delay and maximize video display quality in the environment of heterogeneous upload bandwidths, heterogeneous and dynamic propagation delays. Finally we put up with a greedy Pull-based scheduling approach(GPSA) to solve the optimization problem. The evaluation shows GPSA can outperform two classical chunk scheduling approaches and adapt to dynamic variance of propagation delays.展开更多

The upper surface of the flu...The scattering of plane surface waves by bottom undulations in channel flow consisting of two layers is investigated by assuming that the bed of the channel is composed of porous material. The upper surface of the fluid is bounded by a rigid lid and the channel is unbounded in the horizontal directions. There exists only one wave mode corresponding to an internal wave. For small undulations, a simplified perturbation analysis is used to obtain first order reflection and transmission coefficients in terms of integrals involving the shape function describing the bottom. For sinusoidal bottom undulations and exponentially decaying bottom topography, the first order coefficients are computed. In the case of sinusoidal bottom the first order transmission coefficient is found to vanish identically. The numerical results are depicted graphically in a number of figures.展开更多
In recent years, wireless communication systems have experienced tremendous growth in data traffic. Many capacity-enhancing techniques are applied to elevate the gap between the amount of traffic and network capacity,...In recent years, wireless communication systems have experienced tremendous growth in data traffic. Many capacity-enhancing techniques are applied to elevate the gap between the amount of traffic and network capacity, and more solutions are required to minimize the gap. Traffic allocation among multiple networks is regarded as one of the most effective methods to solve the problem. However, current studies are unable to derive the quantity of traffic that each network should carry. An intelligent traffic allocation algorithm for multiple networks is proposed to obtain the optimal traffic distribution. Multiple factors affecting traffic distribution are considered in the proposed algorithm, such as network coverage, network cost, user habit, service types, network capacity and terminals. Using evaluations, we proved that the proposed algorithm enables a lower network cost than load balancing schemes. A case study of strategy rmldng for a 2G system refarming is presented to further illustrate the applicability of the proposed algorithm. We demonstrated that the new algorithm could be applied in strategy rmldng for telecommunication operators.展开更多

Highway construction and management is judged by capacity standard. The reasonable scale and time of highway construction, rational network structure and optimal management mode of highway network can be determined by analyzing the fitness between capacity and traffic volume. All over the world, highway capacity is studied to different extent in different country. Based on the gap acceptance theory, the mixed traffic flow composed of two representative vehicle types heavy and light vehicles is analyzed with probability theory. Capacity model of the minor mixed traffic flows crossing m major lanes, on which the traffic flows fix in with M3 distributed headway, on the unsignalized intersection is set up, and it is an extension of minor lane capacity theory for one vehicle-type and one major-lane traffic flow.展开更多
