A great number of calculations show that if a small error is allowable in quantitative measurement of the anisotropic rotation angle the mineral may be kept in a position between ψ1 and ψ2 (or ψ3 and ψ4) rather than accurately in 45° position.The interval between ψ1 and ψ2 varies from a few to over ten degrees.
