In order to recognize one's intention from the communication, both the meaning and the emotion are necessary to be interpreted correctly. But until now the study of fine-grained theory of emotion is still full of cha...In order to recognize one's intention from the communication, both the meaning and the emotion are necessary to be interpreted correctly. But until now the study of fine-grained theory of emotion is still full of challenges. This paper analy- zes emotion category according to the statistics of Affective Word (AW) hierarchy and descries an e- motion ontology from Chinese knowledge resource semi-automatically created for human machine in- teraction. The emotion hierarchy is called complex emotion. Firstly, over 7 000 AWs have been annota- ted and theft detailed explanations had been collected for an affective lexicon and then the consistent rela- tionships are automatically parsed and a serial of e- motion hierarchical structures are built up. More than 50 affective categories are extracted by a lexical clustering algorithm and about 5 000 nouns and ad- jectives and 2 000 verbs are categorized into the predicate hierarchy. WS community as a mean to provide an ontological organizati...Although there have been existing competitions among web service (WS) providers, they still have opportunities to cooperate together for common profits. WS community as a mean to provide an ontological organization of WSs that share the same domain of interest has realized this kind of fancy in the sense that providers can work together to compete against others outside the community. Service selection in WS community is different from the traditional service selection, since WS community should take into account its own benefits. Therefore, we propose a hybrid approach to make service selection in WS community. The approach considers the profits of both WS community and the services within it. The experimental evaluation shows that the approach has a great advantage over other approach without consideration of community's benefits.展开更多

In this paper, a series of...The settlement of particles is of great importance in many areas. The accurate determination of drag coefficient and settling velocity in wide Reynolds number (Re) range remains a problem. In this paper, a series of new formulas for drag coefficient of spherical particles based on theoretical laws, such as the Stokes law, the Oseen law, and the Goldstein law, were developed and fitted using 480 groups of experimental data (Re 〈 2 × 10^5). The results show that the 2nd approximation of a rational function containing only one parameter can describe Co-Re relationship accurately over the whole Re range of 0-2× 10^5. The new developed formulas containing five parameters show higher goodness over wide Re range than presently existing equations. The introduction of the Oseen law is helpful for improving the fitting goodness of the empirical formulas. On the basis of one of the Oseen-based Co-Re formulas giving the lowest sum of squared relative errors Qover the whole Re range (Re 〈 2 × 10^5), a general formula for settling velocity ut based on dimensionless parameters was proposed showing high goodness.展开更多
A GoBlast system was built to predict gene function by integrating Blast search and Gene Ontology (GO) annotations together. The operation system was based on Debian Linux 3.1, with Apache as the web server and Mysql ...A GoBlast system was built to predict gene function by integrating Blast search and Gene Ontology (GO) annotations together. The operation system was based on Debian Linux 3.1, with Apache as the web server and Mysql database as the data storage system. FASTA files with GO annotations were taken as the sequence source for blast alignment, which were formatted by wu-formatdb program. The GoBlast system includes three Bioperl modules in Perl:a data input module, a data process module and a data output module. A GoBlast query starts with an amino acid or nucleotide sequence. It ends with an output in an html page, presenting high scoring gene products which are of a high homology to the queried sequence and listing associated GO terms beside respective gene poducts. A simple click on a GO term leads to the detailed explanation of the specific gene function. This avails gene function prediction by Blast. GoBlast can be a very useful tool for functional genome research and is available for free at http://bioq.org/goblast.展开更多

The microcrack evolution equation is the central equation in the theory.The coefficents of the equation, the microcrack growth rate and the microcrack nucleation rate,come from microscopic atomic mechanism.The solution of the equation connects with macromechanical quantities by the model of the weakest chain. All the other formulas and quantities, for instance, distribution function,fracture probability, reliability, failure rate and macromechanical quantities such as strength, toughness, life etc. and their statistical distribution function and statistical fluctuation are derived in a unified fashion and expressed by a few physical parameters. This theory can be widely applied to various kinds of fracture, such as the brittle, fatigue, delayed and environmental fracture of metals and structural ceramics. Prandtl’s lifting line theory was generalized to the lifting problem of a three-dimensional hydrofoil in the presence of a free surface. Similar to the classical lifting theory, the singularity distribution method wa...Prandtl’s lifting line theory was generalized to the lifting problem of a three-dimensional hydrofoil in the presence of a free surface. Similar to the classical lifting theory, the singularity distribution method was utilized to solve two-dimensional lifting problems for the hydrofoil beneath the free surface at the air-water interface, and a lifting line theory was developed to correct three-dimensional effects of the hydrofoil with a large aspect ratio. Differing from the classical lifting theory, the main focus was on finding the three-dimensional Green function of the free surface induced by the steady motion of a system of horseshoe vortices under the free surface. Finally, numerical examples were given to show the relationship between the lift coefficient and submergence Froude numbers for 2-D and 3-D hydrofoils. If the submergence Froude number is small free surface effect will be significant registered as the increase of lift coefficient. The validity of these approaches was examined in comparison with the results calculated by other methods.展开更多
