Stability of boundary pillars in transition from open pit to underground mining 被引量:12

Based on the height of back-filled materials, thickness of ore body, height of boundary pillar and dipping angle of ore body and water pressure, the safety factors of all the pillars are calculated with the limit equilibrium method. The calculation results present that the safety factors of pillars in Sections 19, 20, 24, 28 are less than 1.3, and those of unstable sections are identified preliminarily. Further, a numerical investigation in Sections 18, 20, 22, 24, 25 and 28 implemented with numerical code RFPA20 is employed to further validate the pillar performance and the stability of stopes. The numerical results show the pillars in Sections 18, 22 and 24 are stable and the designed pillar size is suitable. The width of the ore body near Section 28 averages 20 m, failure occurs in the left stope, but the boundary pillars near Section 28 maintain good performance. The pillars in Sections 20 and 25 are unstable which are mainly affected by the Faults F8 and F18. The existence of faults alters the stress distribution, failure mode and water inrush pathway. This work provides a meaningful standard for boundary pillar and stope design in a mine as it transitions from an open pit to underground. 展开更多

The similarity computations for fuzzy membership function pairs were carried out.Fuzzy number related knowledge was introduced,and conventional similarity was compared with distance based similarity measure.The usefulness of the proposed similarity measure was verified.The results show that the proposed similarity measure could be applied to ordinary fuzzy membership functions,though it was not easy to design.Through conventional results on the calculation of similarity for fuzzy membership pair,fuzzy membership-crisp pair and crisp-crisp pair were carried out.The proposed distance based similarity measure represented rational performance with the heuristic point of view.Furthermore,troublesome in fuzzy number based similarity measure for abnormal universe of discourse case was discussed.Finally,the similarity measure computation for various membership function pairs was discussed with other conventional results. 展开更多

High dimensional data were considered as the a typical structure. Additionally, overlapped and non-overlapped data were introduced, and similarity measure analysis was also illustrated and compared with conventional similarity measure. As a result, overlapped data comparison was possible to present similarity with conventional similarity measure. Non-overlapped data similarity analysis provided the clue to solve the similarity of high dimensional data. Considering high dimensional data analysis was designed with consideration of neighborhoods information. Conservative and strict solutions were proposed. Proposed similarity measure was applied to express financial fraud among multi dimensional datasets. In illustrative example, financial fraud similarity with respect to age, gender, qualification and job was presented. And with the proposed similarity measure, high dimensional personal data were calculated to evaluate how similar to the financial fraud. Calculation results show that the actual fraud has rather high similarity measure compared to the average, from minimal 0.0609 to maximal 0.1667. 展开更多

In order to predict accurately the characteristics of supersonic flow in new type externally pressurized spherical air bearings under large bearing clearance and high air supply pressure, which could decrease their load carrying capacity and stability, a CFD-based analysis was introduced to solve the three-dimensional turbulent complete compressible air flow governing equations. The realizable κ-ε model was used as a turbulent closure illustrate that the interaction exists between shock waves The supersonic flow field near air inlets was analyzed. The flow structures and boundary layer, and the flow separation is formed at the lower comer and the lower wall around the point of a maximum velocity. The numerical results show that the conversion from supersonic flow to subsonic flow in spherical air bearing occurs through a shock region (pseudo-shock), and the viscous boundary layer results in the flow separation and reverse flow near the shock. The calculation results basically agree with the corresponding experimental data. 展开更多

As a new type of structure which has never been built, submerged floating tunnel was studied mainly by numerical simulations. To further study the seismic response of a submerged floating tunnel, the first model experiment of submerged floating tunnel (SFT) under the earthquake was carried out on the unique underwater shaking table in China. The experimental results show that vertical excitation induces larger response than horizontal and different inclination degrees of the tether also cause different seismic responses. Subsequently, based on the fluid-structure interaction theory, the corresponding numerical model is established. And comparing the numerical results with the experimental results, those of shaking table test. Numerical model adopted is effective for it is shown that the numerical results are basically identical with dynamic response of SFT. 展开更多

Design parameter optimization of beam foundation on soft soil layer with nonlinear finite element 被引量:2

Finite element method was performed to investigate the influences of beam stiffness, foundation width and cushion thickness on the beating capacity of beam foundation on underlying weak laminated clay. The comparison between numerical results and results from field test including plate-bearing test and foundation settlement observation shows reasonable agreement. According to the numerical results, the beam width, length, cross section and cushion thickness were optimized. The results show that the stresses in subgrade soil decrease greatly with increasing the cushion thickness and width of foundation. However, the foundation settlement and influencing depth of displacement also increase correspondingly under conditions of relatively thinner cushion thickness. For the foundations on underlying weak layer, increasing foundation width merely might be inadequate for improving the bearing capacity, and the appropriate width and cushion thickness depend on the response of subgrade. A comparison between rigid and flexible beams was also discussed. The influence of a flexible beam foundation on subgrade is relatively smaller under the same loading conditions, and the flexible beam foundation appears more adaptable to various subgrades. The proposed flexible beam foundation was adopted in engineering. According to the calculation results, beam width of 2.4 m and cushion thickness of 0.8 m are proposed, and a flexible beam foundation is applied in the optimized design, which is confirmed reasonable by the actual engineering. 展开更多

A novel iterative technique, the phase descent search detection was proposed. This technique constrained the solution (PDS) algorithm, for M-ary phase shift keying (M-PSK) symbols to have a unit magnitude and it was based on coordinate descent iterations where coordinates were the unknown symbol phases. The PDS algorithm, together with a descent local search (also implemented as a version of the PDS algorithm), was used multiple times with different initializations in a proposed multiple phase detector; the solution with the minimum cost was then chosen as the final solution. The simulation results show that for highly loaded multiuser scenarios, the proposed technique has a detection performance that is close to the single-user bound. The results also show that the multiple phase detector allows detection in highly overloaded scenarios and it exhibits near-far resistance. In particular, the detector has a performance that is significantly better, and complexity that is significantly lower, than that of the detector based on semi-definite relaxation. 展开更多

Dynamics and vibration of control valves under flow-induced vibration are analyzed. Hydrodynamic load characteristics and structural response under flow-induced vibration are mainly influenced by inertia, damping, elastic, geometric characteristics and hydraulic parameters. The purpose of this work is to investigate the dynamic behavior of control valves in the response to self-excited fluid flow. An analytical and numerical method is developed to simulate the dynamic and vibrational behavior of sliding dam valves, in response to flow excitation. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed model, the simulation results are validated with experimental ones. Finally, to achieve the optimal valve geometry, numerical results for various shapes of valves are compared. Rounded valve with the least amount of flow turbulence obtains lower fluctuations and vibration amplitude compared with the flat and steep valves. Simulation results demonstrate that with the optimal design requirements of valves, vibration amplitude can be reduced by an average to 30%. 展开更多

The design and optimization of a self-complementary two-arm Archimedean spiral antenna backed by an absorptive cavity were presented. Parametric studies on the proposed antenna structure were carried out by using CST MWS. Simulation results show that the proper choice of spiral turns and cavity depth can miniaturize the dimensions of the cavity-backed spiral antenna presented here. According to simulation results, prototype antennas operating in the 6 12 GHz band are fabricated and the dimension of the proposed cavity-backed spiral antenna is 22 mm (diameter)×15 mm (height). The performance of the proposed antenna was measured and compared with the simulation results. It is shown that the experimental results are consistent with the theoretical predictions and the suggested antenna is good enough to adapt for various wideband applications. 展开更多

The proposed cell is written by the FN tunneling scheme and the cell size is 41.26 μm2, about 37% smaller than the conventional cell. Also, a small-area and low-power 512-bit EEPROM IP was designed using the proposed cells which was used for a 900 MHz passive UHF RFID tag chip. To secure the operation of the cell proposed with 3.3 V devices and the reliability of the used devices, an EEPROM core circuit and a DC-DC converter were proposed. Simulation results for the designed EEPROM IP based on the 0.18μm logic process show that the power consumptions in read mode, program mode and erase mode are 11.82, 25.15, and 24.08 ~tW, respectively, and the EEPROM size is 0.12 mm2. 展开更多

An object segment similarity function is taken into account from the continuous media frames to measure the individual streaming profit of certain segment versions of a media object.Therefore,a new segment version-based transcoding(SVT)mechanism is derived for a quality of service(QoS)of client-centric media streaming in wireless mobile networks.The derived function utilizes the fuzzy similarity of certain segment versions of an object.This mechanism provides the effectiveness of reduction of the stream startup latency among segment versions,and the average access of each version.Thus,the proposed segment version transcoding mechanism reduces packet loss which in turn increases streaming performance and throughput.The performance of the partitioned segment versions is simulated and some segment versions are completed.The simulation results show that the proposed mechanism outperforms the other mechanisms in average cache hit ratio and in average startup latency ratio. 展开更多

Enhancing pose accuracy of space robot by improved differential evolution

The disparity will cause the real pose (including position and orientation) of the end effector not to match the desired one, and further hinder the space robot from performing the scheduled mission. To improve pose accuracy of space robot, a new self-calibration method using the distance measurement provided by a laser-ranger fixed on the end-effector is proposed. A distance-measurement model of the space robot is built according to the distance from the starting point of the laser beam to the intersection point at the declining plane. Based on the model, the cost function about the pose error is derived. The kinematic calibration is transferred to a non-linear system optimization problem, which is solved by the improved differential evolution (DE) algoritlun. A six-degree of freedom (6-DOF) robot is used as a practical simulation example, and the simulation results show: 1) A significant improvement of pose accuracy of space robot can be obtained by distance measurement only; 2) Search efficiency is increased by improved DE; 3) More calibration configurations may make calibration results better. 展开更多

Health risk of whole body vibration in mining trucks during various operational conditions

If vibrations are beyond the tolerable limit, the machine and its operator health will be under the risk. In this work, the vibration of a mining truck at different operational conditions are simulated and discussed. To achieve this aim, three haul roads with low, medium and poor qualities are considered based on the ISO standard. Accordingly, the vibration of a mining truck in different speeds, payload and distribution qualities of materials in the dump body are evaluated in each haul road quality using Trucksim software. The simulation results with statistical discussions indicate that the truck speed and the materials distribution quality have significant effects on the root mean square(RMS) of vertical vibrations. However, the effect of the payload is not considerable on the RMS. Moreover, the accumulation of materials on the rear side of the truck dump body is efficient on the vibrational health risk. 展开更多

In order to study the action mechanism of Sacha Inchi polypeptide in liquid crystal emulsion,oil-in-water liquid crystal emulsions with Sacha Inchi fermented polypeptide as the active component were prepared.The microstructures,particle sizes,stabilities,thermodynamic properties,and rheological properties of liquid crystal emulsions with different concentrations of the fermentation products were observed by Polarizing microscope,Particle size meter,Thermogravimetric differential thermal synchronous measurement system,and Rheometer,respectively.The results showed that the average particle size of fermented peptide liquid crystal emulsion was(25.7±2.8)μm,and the liquid crystal structure was complete and stable.The content of bound water and liquid crystal in the emulsion with 1%Sacha Inchi polypeptide were higher than those in the blank emulsion and the emulsions with 3%and 5%Sacha Inchi polypeptide.Rheological results indicated that the viscosity of liquid crystal emulsion with the change curve of shear rate registered the shear thinning phenomenon,which belongs to non-Newtonian fluid.The hysteresis area,energy storage modulus,and loss modulus of the 1%additive amount of liquid crystal emulsion were larger than those of the blank emulsion and the emulsions with 3%and 5%Sacha Inchi polypeptide,indicating greater thixotropy and stronger shear resistance.The hydrophilic amino acid residues of the peptide in the 1%additive amount of the emulsion were combined with the water phase,while the hydrophobic amino acid residues of the peptide entered the oil phase,which formed a viscoelastic film at the oil-water interface,so that the liquid crystal emulsion had a more stable gel network structure. 展开更多

The analytical method based on "Hertz theory on normal contact of elastic solids" and the numerical method based on finite element method (FEM) calculating the contact stress of face-gear drive with spur involute pinion were introduced, and their relative errors are below 10%, except edge contact, which turns out that these two methods can compute contact stress of face-gear drive correctly and effectively. An agreement of the localized bearing contact stress is gotten for these two methods, making sure that the calculation results of FEM are reliable. The loaded meshing simulations of multi-tooth FEM model were developed, and the determination of the transmission error and the maximal load distribution factor of face-gear drive under torques were given. A formula for the maximal load distribution factor was proposed. By introducing the maximal load distribution factor in multi-tooth contact zone, a method for calculating the maximal contact stress in multi-tooth contact can be given. Compared to FEM, the results of these formulae are proved to be reliable, and the relative errors are below 10%. 展开更多

Simulation results show that in the actual network environment, the improved algorithm, compared with K-means, will reduce the false positive rate of early identification algorithm from 6.3% to 0.9% and has a higher operational efficiency. 展开更多

In order to establish a new method for measuring the dimensions of coarse aggregates, five different-size flat and elongated (F&E) coarse aggregates were glued into two specimens by epoxy resin, respectively, and slice images were obtained by X-ray CT, then the aggregates were extracted by the fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm. Attributions of the particle on different cross-sections were determined by the ‘overlap area method’. And unified three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system was established based on continuous slice images. The coefficient values of spherical harmonics descriptor representing particles surface profile were gained, then each scanned particle was represented by 60×120 discrete points conformably with spherical harmonics descriptor. The chord length and direction angles were determined by the calculation. With the major axis (L) and orthogonal axis (W and T), the calculated results were compared with those measured by caliper. It is concluded that the new L, W, and T dimension measuring method is able to take the place of the present manual measurement. 展开更多

In order to investigate wheel slip-sinkage problem, which is important for the design, control and simulation of lunar rovers, experiments were carried out with a wheel-soil interaction test system to measure the sinkage of three types of wheels in dimension with wheel lugs of different heights and numbers under a series of slip ratios (0-0.6). The curves of wheel sinkage versus slip ratio were obtained and it was found that the sinkage with slip ratio of 0.6 is 3-7 times of the static sinkage. Based on the experimental results, the slip-sinkage principle of lunar's rover lugged wheels (including the sinkage caused by longitudinal flow and side flow of soil, and soil digging of wheel lugs) was analyzed, and corresponding calculation equations were derived. All the factors that can cause slip sinkage were considered to improve the conventional wheel-soil interaction model, and a formula of changing the sinkage exponent with the slip ratio was established. Mathematical model for calculating the sinkage of wheel according to vertical load and slip ratio was developed. Calculation results show that this model can predict the slip-sinkage of wheel with high precision, making up the deficiency of Wong-Reece model that mainly reflects longitudinal slip-sinkage. 展开更多
