To evaluate the effects of alendronate on the structural properties of trabecular bone.Methods. Alendronate was administered at a daily p. o. dose of 0. 5 mg/kg over a 12-week period in hound dogs (n = 8 for both the control and treated group), and the structural indices of the lumbar vertebral (LI and L2) trabecular bone were assessed directly from 3-D images.Results. Treatment with alendronate increased bone volume fraction by 9. 5% and 7. 7% in L1 and L2 respectively. Trabecular thickness significantly increased after alendronate treatment, whereas trabecular separation remained constant. The degree of anisotropy for the alendronate - treated group was decreased compared with that of the control group. Bone surface to volume ratio declined significantly in the alendronate-reated group, whereas alendronate induced a higher bone surface density.Conclusion. Alendronate increased the structural properties of canine trabecular bone after short-term treatment at a dose of 0. 5 mg · kg-1·day-1.展开更多

Integrins offers a platform on which mechanical stimuli, cytoskeletal organization, biochemical signals can concentrate. Mechanical stimuli transmitted by integrins influence the cytoskeleton, in turn, the cytoskeleton influences cell adhesion via integrins, then cell adhesion results in a series of signal transduction cascades. In skeleton, integrins also have a key role for bone resoption by osteoclasts and reformation by osteoblasts. In present review, the proteins involved in integrin signal transduction and integrin signal transduction pathways were discussed, mainly on the basic mechanisms of integrin signaling and the roles of integrins in bone signal transduction, which may give insight into new therapeutic agents to all kinds of skeletal diseases and new strategies for bone tissue engineering.展开更多

At a n(H2)/n(1-hexene) ratio of 8, the influence of steam treatment temperature, reaction temperature and reaction pressure on the performance of MCM-22 zeolite for catalytic skeletal isomerization of 1-hexene was examined. The experimental results showed that at a steam treatment temperature of 500℃, a reaction temperature of 270℃, a space velocity of 1.0 h-1 and a reaction pressure of 0.2 MPa, the MCM-22 zeolite exhibited excellent performance for catalytic skeletal isomerization of 1-hexene with the i-hexene yield reaching 66.15%. Compared with other commonly used molecular sieve catalysts, the MCM-22 zeolite catalyst exhibited better catalytic performance for skeletal isomerization of 1-hexene.展开更多
