Since the beginning of 1950s,the detachment and restoration of tomb mural paintings was conducted, and afterward the Banpo ruins was consolidated by chemical method, and then also the carved stones belonging to Han-Wei period at Baocheng were successfully removed by protective removal method; some successful experiences on conservation were made. In the 1980s,the restoration of two bronzes chariots and horses with complex structures using comprehensive technologies marked that the technology of conservation in Shaanxi has reached a new level. Since the 1990s,the infrastructures and applied research have been enhanced at Shaanxi, and specialized laboratories of conservation were set up in the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology (SXPIA),the Museum of the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang, the Shaanxi History Museum and the Xi’an Center for the Conservation and Restoration, and professional researchers and conservators are trained and replenished. At the same time,Shaanxi has made full use of the collaboration opportunities with some foreign institutions to develop their own conservation work in the professionalization, specialization and internationalization directions. With good infrastructures and professional qualified personnel in the two major elements, some important achievements in discipline construction and conservation research have been made. So far totally, three state-level prizes and nine provincial and ministerial level prizes have been awarded. In recent years, two key scientific research bases of conservation of State Administration Bureau of Cultural Heritage were applied, and were approved to be set up in Shaanxi. The establishment of the two bases will provide broader space for the development of conservation in Shaanxi, and will lay a good foundation for the realization of development of conservation science and technology by leaps and bounds in China. This paper mainly presents the outstanding achievements in the past 50 years in the conservation laboratory construction, professional personnel training and scientific research in Shaanxi.展开更多
