The combined use of mid-infrared attenuated total reflection spectroscopy and multivariate calibration allows accurate determination of nitrogen content in petroleum and its products. The calibration models of nitrogen content in crude oils have been established by partial least squares (PLS) method. The results predicted by this method were very close to those determined by standard methods. Compared with standard methods, this method is provided with advantages such as high-speed, simplicity and good-repeat- ability without any needs for pretreatment.展开更多

The moving least square method is introduced, for the first time, to fit a stratum surface. The results show that, using the same-degree base function, compared with a traditional least square method, the moving least square method can produce lower fitting errors, the fitting surface can describe the morphological characteristics of stratum surfaces more accurately and the principal curvature values vary within a wide range and may be more suitable for the prediction of the distribution of structural fractures. The moving least square method could be useful in curved surface fitting and stratum curvature analysis.展开更多

A parameter estimation method with constraints was developed, based on the variational method. Performance functions and constraint equations in the variational method are constructed by analyzing input and output equations of the system. The problem of parameter estimation was transformed into a problem of least squares estimation. The parameter estimation equation was analyzed in order to get an optimized estimation of parameters based on the Lagrange multiplication operator. Simulation results showed that this method is better than the traditional least squares estimation, producing a higher precision when identifying parameters. It has very important practical value in areas of application such as system identification and parameter estimation.展开更多
