Syntheses of cam profile designs and dynamics of cam designs are studied at first. Then, a cam profile design optimization model based on the six order classical spline and single DOF(degree of freedom) dynamic model of single-dwell cam mechanisms is developed. And dynamic constraints such as jumps and vibrations of followers are considered. This optimization model, with many advantages such as universalities of applications, conveniences to operations and good performances in improving kinematic and dynamic properties of cam mechanisms, is good except for the discontinuity of jerks at the end knots of cam profiles which will cause vibrations of cam systems. However, the optimization is improved by combining the six order classical spline with general polynomial spline which is the so-called "trade-offs". Finally, improved optimization is proven to have a better performance in designing cam profiles.展开更多

In the ESSMAS, every screen rod, with ends embedded into elastomer, is coupled to the main screen structure in a relatively flexible manner. The theoretical analysis was conducted, which consists of establishing dynamic model promoted from the fuzzy structure theory as well as calculating for the equivalent stiffness of each attached structure. According to the numerical simulation using the NEWMARK-fl integration method, this assembling pattern significantly leads to the screen surface/rod having larger vibration intensity than that of the corresponding position on screen structure, which specifically, with an averaged acceleration amplitude increasing ratio of 11.37% in theoretical analysis and 20.27% in experimental test. The experimental results, within a tolerant error, also confirm the established model and demonstrate the feasibility of ESSMAS.展开更多

Utilizing the limited sensor measurements, the entire structure response can be estimated based on the system equivalent reduction-expansion process(SEREP) method. In order to compare the capability of capturing the structural vibration response with other optimal sensor placement(OSP) methods, the effective independence(EI) method, modal kinetic energy(MKE) method and modal assurance criterion(MAC) method, were also investigated. A statistical criterion, root mean square error(RMSE), was employed to assess the magnitude of the estimation error between the real response and the estimated response. For investigating the effectiveness and accuracy of the above OSP methods, a 31-bar truss structure is introduced as a simulation example. The analysis results show that both the maximum and mean of the RMSE value obtained from the EEM method are smaller than those from other OSP methods, which indicates that the optimal sensor configuration obtained from the EEM method can provide a more accurate estimation of the entire structure response compared with the EI, MKE and MAC methods.展开更多
