The knowledge of bubble profiles in gas-liquid two-phase flows is crucial for analyzing the kinetic processes such as heat and mass transfer, and this knowledge is contained in field data obtained by surface-resolved computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. To obtain this information, an efficient bubble profile reconstruction method based on an improved agglomerative hierarchical clustering (AHC) algorithm is proposed in this paper. The reconstruction method is featured by the implementations of a binary space division preprocessing, which aims to reduce the computational complexity, an adaptive linkage criterion, which guarantees the applicability of the AHC algorithm when dealing with datasets involving either non-uniform or distorted grids, and a stepwise execution strategy, which enables the separation of attached bubbles. To illustrate and verify this method, it was applied to dealing with 3 datasets, 2 of them with pre-specified spherical bubbles and the other obtained by a surface-resolved CFD simulation. Application results indicate that the proposed method is effective even when the data include some non-uniform and distortion. 展开更多

Permanent magnet tubular linear motors(TLMs) arranged in multiple rows and multiple columns used for a radiotherapy machine were studied. Due to severe volumetric and thermal constraints, the TLMs were at high risk of overheating. To predict the performance of the TLMs accurately, a multi-physics analysis approach was proposed. Specifically, it considered the coupling effects amongst the electromagnetic and the thermal models of the TLMs, as well as the fluid model of the surrounding air. To reduce computation cost, both the electromagnetic and the thermal models were based on lumped-parameter methods. Only a minimum set of numerical computation(computational fluid dynamics, CFD) was performed to model the complex fluid behavior. With the proposed approach, both steady state and transient state temperature distributions, thermal rating and permissible load can be predicted. The soil masses of slopes were assumed to follow a nonlinear failure criterion and a nonassociated flow rule.The stability factors of slopes were calculated using vertical slice method based on limit analysis.The potential sliding mass was divided into a series of vertical slices as well as the traditional slice technique.Equating the external work rate to the internal energy dissipation,the optimum solutions to stability factors were determined by the nonlinear programming algorithm.From the numerical results,it is found that the present solutions agree well with previous results when the nonlinear criterion reduces to the linear criterion,and the nonassociated flow rule reduces to the associated flow rule.The stability factors decrease by 39.7%with nonlinear parameter varying from 1.0 to 3.0.Dilation and nonlinearity have significant effects on the slope stability factors. 展开更多
