Blast test results show that the SDOF systems are accurate in predicting the failure mode of the slab under blast loads by incorporating the effects of the strain rate effect caused by rapid load application. Based on different damage criteria, pressure-impulse (P-I) diagrams of the two failure modes were analyzed with the SDOF systems. The effects of span length, concrete strength, and reinforcement ratio of the slab on the P-I diagram were also investigated. Results indicate that a slab tends to fail in direct shear mode when it is of a smaller span length and tends to fail in flexure mode when it is of a larger span length. With the increase of the concrete strength or reinforced ratio, both the flexure and shear capacity increase. Based on numerical results, a simplified method and a semi analytical equation for deriving the P-I diagram are proposed for different failure modes and damage levels.展开更多

Loading ratio and standoff distance were varied. An increase in loading ratio (R) and standoff distance (S) enhances the plate velocity (Vp), dynamic bend angle (β) and pressure developed (P). The interface morphology of the explosive clads confirms strong metallurgical bond between the wire mesh and aluminum plates. Further, a smooth transition from straight to undulating interlayered topography is witnessed. The introduction of a wire mesh, as interlayer, leads to an improvement in mechanical strength with a slender reduction in overall corrosion resistance of the “explosive clads”.展开更多

According to blast vibration live data that have been collected and the characteristics of short-time non-stationary random signals, the wavelet packet energy spectrum analysis for blast vibration signal has made by wavelet packet analysis technology and the signals were measured under different explosion parameters (the maximal section dose, the distance of blast source to measuring point and the section number of millisecond detonator). The results show that more than 95% frequency band energy of the signals sl-s8 concentrates at 0-200 Hz and the main vibration frequency bands of the signals sl-s8 are 70.313-125, 46.875-93.75, 15.625-93.75, 0-62.5, 42.969-125, 15.625-82.031, 7.813-62.5 and 0-62.5 Hz. Energy distributions for different frequency bands of blast vibration signal are obtained and the characteristics of energy distributions for blast vibration signal measured under different explosion parameters are analyzed. From blast vibration signal energy, the decreasing law of blast seismic waves measured under different explosion parameters was studied and the wavelet packet analysis is an effective means for studying seismic effect induced by blast.展开更多

Test results show that the mitigation effect of water filled plastic wall is remarkable. The maximum reduction of peak reflected overpressure reaches up to 94.53%, as well as 36.3% of the minimum peak reflected overpressure reduction in the scaled distance ranging from 1.71 m/kg1/3 to 3.42 m/kg1/3. Parametric studies were also carried out. The effects of the scaled gauge height, water/charge scaled distance(the distance between the explosive charge and the water wall), water wall scaled height and water/structure scaled distance(the distance between the water wall and the structure) were systematically investigated and compared with the usual rigid anti-blast wall. It is concluded that these parameters affect the mitigation effects of plastic water wall on blast loadings significantly, which is basically consistent to the trend of usual rigid anti-blast wall. Some formulae are also derived based on the numerical and test results, providing a simple but reliable prediction model to evaluate the peak overpressure of mitigated blast loadings on the structures.展开更多

Parametric studies on the maximum rebound ratio along the radian direction normal to the joints were performed in universal distinct element code. The results show that the maximum rebound ratio is influenced by three factors, i.e., the normalized normal stiffness of joints, the ratio of joint spacing to wavelength and the joint from which the wave rebounds. The relationship between the maximum rebound ratio and the influence factors is generalized into five charts. Those charts can be used as the prediction model for estimating the maximum rebound ratio.展开更多
