By decomposing the whole space into relative positions and geometric features of the sphere and the primitive considered, closed form distance formula are got. These calculations are very useful in the real time collision detection in which primitives are used as bounding volumes of complex objects.展开更多

A fast and well-performed collision cancellation ...The virtual reality based motion simulation of the guide wire and the catheter inside specific vascular structures can benefit a lot for the endovascular intervention. A fast and well-performed collision cancellation algorithm is proposed based on the geometric analysis and the angular propagation (AP), and a 3-D real-time interactive system is developed for the motion simulation of the guide wire and the catheter inside the specific patient vascular. The guide wire or the catheter is modeled as the "multi-body" representation and properties are defined by its intrinsic characteristics. The motion of the guide wire or the catheter inside the vascular is guided by the collision detection and the collision cancellation algorithm. Finally, a relaxation procedure is used to achieve more realistic status. Experimental results show that the behavior of the guide wire or the catheter depends on the defined parameters. The real-time simulation can be achieved. The result shows that the simulation system is effective and promising.展开更多

External disturbance such as sea current can he added to improve the modelling in actual underwater environment. Presently, the complexity of the system, the interference between sub-systems and the lag in management skills has been a bottle neck for improving productivity of the system. Based on the fact that the traditional tools for safety analysis have been insufficient to evaluate systematically and dynamically the safety risks, this paper tries to create a virtual reality tool consisting of human, machine and mines, using Pro/E and the 3D MAX software in order to evaluate visually the operations of typical mining equipment, such as the bucket wheel excavator (BWE), the shovel, the truck and the dragline. Within this virtual world, the behavior of the system, such as interaction, interference and potential risk can be replayed and reviewed visually. The objective of the study is to identify the critical safety issues of the system and to provide a convenient and powerful tool for safety training and safety management.展开更多

The article discusses the process of making the Virtual Reality System of the Humble Administrator’s Garden. Translating building data to the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) is by far unsatisfactory. This creates a challenge for computer designers to do optimization to meet requirements. Five different approaches to optimize models have been presented in this paper. The other methods are to optimize VRML and to reduce the file size. Due to the diversity of individual's anthropometric measurements, the individualized customization technology is needed to get convincing sound. In this paper, we proposed a simple and effective method for modeling relationships between anthropometric measurements and Head-related Impulse Response(HRIR). Considering the relationship between anthropometric measurements and different HRIR parts is complicated, we divided the HRIRs into small segments and carried out regression analysis between anthropometric measurements and each segment to establish relationship model. The results of objective simulation and subjective test indicate that the model can generate individualize HRIRs from a series of anthropometric measurements. With the individualized HRIRs, we can get more accurate acoustic localization sense than using non-individualized HRIRs.展开更多

But constructing a real virtual environment is rather difficult. The difficulty cannot be compared with developing general software. It has a high demand for software technology. Obviously traditional methods are not competent for the job. Fortunately with the development of agent-oriented technologies, all problems seem to be solved. By classifying a virtual environment into four layers corresponding with real world and considering it as a collection of agents, the virtual objects can be mapped into agents and an agent model can be designed. Based on the idea that the state change of a system is caused by that of individuals and the mutual effect among them, a theory of agent behavior driven by event and belief is put forward. Such agent-oriented modeling method can cope with the demand for handling multi-dimension information. It is an effective technique for constructing a large and complex virtual environment.展开更多
