An improved estimation of distribution algorithm(IEDA)is proposed in this paper for efficient design of metamaterial absorbers.This algorithm establishes a probability model through the selected dominant groups and samples from the model to obtain the next generation,avoiding the problem of building-blocks destruction caused by crossover and mutation.Neighboring search from artificial bee colony algorithm(ABCA)is introduced to enhance the local optimization ability and improved to raise the speed of convergence.The probability model is modified by boundary correction and loss correction to enhance the robustness of the algorithm.The proposed IEDA is compared with other intelligent algorithms in relevant references.The results show that the proposed IEDA has faster convergence speed and stronger optimization ability,proving the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm. 展开更多

Accurate target angle estimation is one of the chal-lenges for wideband radars due to the fact that target occupies multiple range bins,resulting in lower energy or signal to noise ratio in a single range bin.This paper proposes a processing technique for enhanced accuracy of target angle estimates for wideband monopulse radars.Firstly,to accumulate the energy of the received echo signals from different scatterers on a target,the phase difference between different scatterers on a target is estimated using the minimum entropy phase estimation method combining with the correlation between adjacent pulses.Then,the monopulse ratio is obtained by using the signals from the accumulated sum and difference channels.The target angle is estimated by weighting the accumulated echo energy for accu-racy enhancement.Experimental results based on both numeri-cal simulation and measured data are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique. 展开更多

High-Precision Fish Pose Estimation Method Based on Improved HRNet

[Objective]Fish pose estimation(FPE)provides fish physiological information,facilitating health monitoring in aquaculture.It aids decision-making in areas such as fish behavior recognition.When fish are injured or deficient,they often display abnormal behaviors and noticeable changes in the positioning of their body parts.Moreover,the unpredictable posture and orientation of fish during swimming,combined with the rapid swimming speed of fish,restrict the current scope of research in FPE.In this research,a FPE model named HPFPE is presented to capture the swimming posture of fish and accurately detect their key points.[Methods]On the one hand,this model incorporated the CBAM module into the HRNet framework.The attention module enhanced accuracy without adding computational complexity,while effectively capturing a broader range of contextual information.On the other hand,the model incorporated dilated convolution to increase the receptive field,allowing it to capture more spatial context.[Results and Discussions]Experiments showed that compared with the baseline method,the average precision(AP)of HPFPE based on different backbones and input sizes on the oplegnathus punctatus datasets had increased by 0.62,1.35,1.76,and 1.28 percent point,respectively,while the average recall(AR)had also increased by 0.85,1.50,1.40,and 1.00,respectively.Additionally,HPFPE outperformed other mainstream methods,including DeepPose,CPM,SCNet,and Lite-HRNet.Furthermore,when compared to other methods using the ornamental fish data,HPFPE achieved the highest AP and AR values of 52.96%,and 59.50%,respectively.[Conclusions]The proposed HPFPE can accurately estimate fish posture and assess their swimming patterns,serving as a valuable reference for applications such as fish behavior recognition. 展开更多

Nonparametric detection is obviously useful in situations where detailed information about the statistics of the noise is unavailable or not accurate. Such TOA estimators are obtained based on conditional statistical tests with only a symmetry distribution assumption on the noise probability density function. The nonparametric estimators are attractive choices for low-resolution IR-UWB digital receivers which can be implemented by fast comparators or high sampling rate low resolution analog-to-digital converters(ADCs),in place of high sampling rate high resolution ADCs which may not be available in practice. Simulation results demonstrate that nonparametric TOA estimators provide more effective and robust performance than typical energy detection(ED) based estimators. 展开更多

It can effectively detect a target with low sample support. Compared with its natural competitors, the novel detector has higher proba- bility of detection (PD), especially when the number of the training data is low. H-infinity estimator is generally implemented in timevariant state-space models, but it leads to high complexity when the model is used for multiple input multiple output with orthogo- hal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. Thus, an H-infinity estimator over time-invariant system models is pro- posed, which modifies the Krein space accordingly. In order to avoid the large matrix inversion and multiplication required in each OFDM symbol from different transmit antennas, expectation maximization (EM) is developed to reduce the high computational load. Joint estimation over multiple OFDM symbols is used to resist the high pilot overhead generated by the increasing number of transmit antennas. Finally, the performance of the proposed estimator is enhanced via an angle-domain process. Through performance analysis and simulation experiments, it is indicated that the pro- posed algorithm has a better mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) performance than the optimal least square (LS) estimator. Joint estimation over multiple OFDM symbols can not only reduce the pilot overhead but also promote the channel performance. What is more, an obvious improvement can be obtained by using the angle-domain filter. 展开更多

This paper presents a kind of attitude estimation algorithm based on quaternion-vector switching and square-root cubature Kalman filter for autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV).The filter formulation is based on geomagnetic field tensor measurement dependent on the attitude and a gyro-based model for attitude propagation. In this algorithm, switching between the quaternion and the three-component vector is done by a couple of the mathematical transformations. Quaternion is chosen as the state variable of attitude in the kinematics equation to time update, while the mean value and covariance of the quaternion are computed by the three-component vector to avoid the normalization constraint of quaternion. The square-root forms enjoy a continuous and improved numerical stability because all the resulting covariance matrices are guaranteed to stay positively semidefinite. The entire square-root cubature attitude estimation algorithm with quaternion-vector switching for the nonlinear equality constraint of quaternion is given. The numerical simulation of simultaneous swing motions in the three directions is performed to compare with the three kinds of filters and the results indicate that the proposed filter provides lower attitude estimation errors than the other two kinds of filters and a good convergence rate. 展开更多

This paper develops a deep estimator framework of deep convolution networks(DCNs)for super-resolution direction of arrival(DOA)estimation.In addition to the scenario of correlated signals,the quantization errors of the DCN are the major challenge.In our deep estimator framework,one DCN is used for spectrum estimation with quantization errors,and the remaining two DCNs are used to estimate quantization errors.We propose training our estimator using the spatial sampled covariance matrix directly as our deep estimator’s input without any feature extraction operation.Then,we reconstruct the original spatial spectrum from the spectrum estimate and quantization errors estimate.Also,the feasibility of the proposed deep estimator is analyzed in detail in this paper.Once the deep estimator is appropriately trained,it can recover the correlated signals’spatial spectrum fast and accurately.Simulation results show that our estimator performs well in both resolution and estimation error compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms. 展开更多

Based on the system dynamic model, a full system dynamics estimation method is proposed for a chain shell magazine driven by a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM). An adaptive extended state observer(AESO) is proposed to estimate the unmeasured states and disturbance, in which the model parameters are adjusted in real time. Theoretical analysis shows that the estimation errors of the disturbances and unmeasured states converge exponentially to zero, and the parameter estimation error can be obtained from the extended state. Then, based on the extended state of the AESO, a novel parameter estimation law is designed. Due to the convergence of AESO, the novel parameter estimation law is insensitive to controllers and excitation signal. Under persistent excitation(PE) condition, the estimated parameters will converge to a compact set around the actual parameter value. Without PE signal, the estimated parameters will converge to zero for the extended state. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately estimate the unmeasured states and disturbance of the chain shell magazine, and the estimated parameters will converge to the actual value without strictly continuous PE signals. 展开更多

The problem of IFO estimation is addressed and a new IFO estimator based on the Bayesian philosophy is proposed. Also, it is shown that the Bayesian IFO estimator is optimal among all the IFO estimators. Furthermore, the Bayesian estimator can take advantage of oversampling so that better performance can be obtained. The conformal array can make full use of the aperture,save space,meet the requirements of aerodynamics,and is sensitive to polarization information.It has broad application prospects in military,aerospace,and communication fields.The joint polarization and direction-of-arrival(DOA)estimation based on the conformal array and the theoretical analysis of its parameter estimation performance are the key factors to promote the engineering application of the conformal array.To solve these problems,this paper establishes the wave field signal model of the conformal array.Then,for the case of a single target,the cost function of the maximum likelihood(ML)estimator is rewritten with Rayleigh quotient from a problem of maximizing the ratio of quadratic forms into those of minimizing quadratic forms.On this basis,rapid parameter estimation is achieved with the idea of manifold separation technology(MST).Compared with the modified variable projection(MVP)algorithm,it reduces the computational complexity and improves the parameter estimation performance.Meanwhile,the MST is used to solve the partial derivative of the steering vector.Then,the theoretical performance of ML,the multiple signal classification(MUSIC)estimator and Cramer-Rao bound(CRB)based on the conformal array are derived respectively,which provides theoretical foundation for the engineering application of the conformal array.Finally,the simulation experiment verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

Many blind channel estimation methods have been proposed for direct sequence (DS) code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems, so we can certainly use them to estimate the finite impulse response (FIR) channel for the multi-carrier (MC-) CDMA system. In this paper, the MC-CDMA system is interpreted as an equivalent time-domain DS-CD-MA system with specific spreading codes. Then, an equivalently time-domain blind channel estimator is derived for the uplink MC-CDMA, which is based on second-order statistics of the received data. By exploiting singular value decomposition (SVD) and the finite alphabet property of transmitted symbols, the time-domain channel impulse response (CIR) for the uplink MC-CDMA can be accurately identified. Since backlash nonlinearity is inevitably existing in actuators for bidirectional stabilization system of allelectric tank,it behaves more drastically in high maneuvering environments.In this work,the accurate tracking control for bidirectional stabilization system of moving all-electric tank with actuator backlash and unmodeled disturbance is solved.By utilizing the smooth adaptive backlash inverse model,a nonlinear robust adaptive feedback control scheme is presented.The unknown parameters and unmodelled disturbance are addressed separately through the derived parametric adaptive function and the continuous nonlinear robust term.Because the unknown backlash parameters are updated via adaptive function and the backlash effect can be suppressed successfully by inverse operation,which ensures the system stability.Meanwhile,the system disturbance in the high maneuverable environment can be estimated with the constructed adaptive law online improving the engineering practicality.Finally,Lyapunov-based analysis proves that the developed controller can ensure the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero even with unmodeled disturbance and unknown actuator backlash.Contrast co-simulations and experiments illustrate the advantages of the proposed approach. 展开更多

In order to get the higher compression ratio, this paper employs the wavelet-based mixed-resolution coding technique to incorporate with SPT-based disparity-compensation to compress the stereo image data. The mixed-resolution coding is a perceptually justified technique that is achieved by presenting one eye with a low-resolution image and the other with a high-resolution image. Psychophysical experiments show that the stereo image pairs with one high-resolution image and one low-resolution image provide almost the same stereo depth to that of a stereo image with two high-resolution images. By combining the mixed-resolution coding and SPT-based disparity-compensation techniques, one reference (left) high-resolution image can be compressed by a hierarchical wavelet transform followed by vector quantization and Huffman encoder. After two level wavelet decompositions, for the low-resolution right image and low-resolution left image, subspace projection technique using the fixed block size disparity compensation estimation is used. At the decoder, the low-resolution right subimage is estimated using the disparity from the low-resolution left subimage. A full-size reconstruction is obtained by upsampling a factor of 4 and reconstructing with the synthesis low pass filter. Finally, experimental results are presented, which show that our scheme achieves a PSNR gain (about 0.92dB) as compared to the current block-based disparity compensation coding techniques. 展开更多

The robotic airship can provide a promising aerostatic platform for many potential applications.These applications require a precise autonomous trajectory tracking control for airship.Airship has a nonlinear and uncertain dynamics.It is prone to wind disturbances that offer a challenge for a trajectory tracking control design.This paper addresses the airship trajectory tracking problem having time varying reference path.A lumped parameter estimation approach under model uncertainties and wind disturbances is opted against distributed parameters.It uses extended Kalman filter(EKF)for uncertainty and disturbance estimation.The estimated parameters are used by sliding mode controller(SMC)for ultimate control of airship trajectory tracking.This comprehensive algorithm,EKF based SMC(ESMC),is used as a robust solution to track airship trajectory.The proposed estimator provides the estimates of wind disturbances as well as model uncertainty due to the mass matrix variations and aerodynamic model inaccuracies.The stability and convergence of the proposed method are investigated using the Lyapunov stability analysis.The simulation results show that the proposed method efficiently tracks the desired trajectory.The method solves the stability,convergence,and chattering problem of SMC under model uncertainties and wind disturbances. 展开更多

Resolution performance analysis of cumulants-based rank reduction estimator in presence of unexpected modeling errors

Compared to the rank reduction estimator (RARE) based on second-order statistics (called SOS-RARE), the RARE employing fourth-order cumulants (referred to as FOC-RARE) is capable of dealing with more sources and mitigating the negative influences of the Gaussian colored noise. However, in the presence of unexpected modeling errors, the resolution behavior of the FOC-RARE also deteriorate significantly as SOS-RARE, even for a known array covariance matrix. For this reason, the angle resolution capability of the FOC-RARE was theoretically analyzed. Firstly, the explicit formula for the mathematical expectation of the FOC-RARE spatial spectrum was derived through the second-order perturbation analysis method. Then, with the assumption that the unexpected modeling errors were drawn from complex circular Gaussian distribution, the theoretical formulas for the angle resolution probability of the FOC-RARE were presented. Numerical experiments validate our analytical results and demonstrate that the FOC-RARE has higher robustness to the unexpected modeling en'ors than that of the SOS-RARE from the resolution point of view. 展开更多
