The mathematical model is a hyperbolic-parabolic partial differential system. The solutions of the system show some decay property due to the parabolicity. Based on detailed analysis on the Green function of the system, the pointwise estimates of the solutions are obtained, from which the generalized Huygens’ principle is shown.展开更多
Elastic and strength properties (proportional-limit stress (O'prop), Young's modulus (E), breaking stress (O'max) in static bending parallel to grain in a longitudinal direction), as well as stress relaxati...Elastic and strength properties (proportional-limit stress (O'prop), Young's modulus (E), breaking stress (O'max) in static bending parallel to grain in a longitudinal direction), as well as stress relaxation in air-dried condition and water-saturated conditions at seven different constant temperatures and increasing and decreasing temperatures were investigated for wood from Chinese-fir and poplar plantations. The results show that hygrothermal conditions considerably affect these mechanical properties. The higher the moisture content (MC) or temperature, the lower the strength of wood. Further investigation of the effects of constant temperature on stress relaxation indicates that high temperature specimens have low relaxation moduli and high fluidity. In the case of increasing temperature the range of the modulus of relaxation is larger than in the case of a reduction in temperature, while the residual moduli do not show large differences. This is because the modulus at high temperatures decreases more than that at low temperatures. The fluidity of specimens in a state of water desorption increases slowly at the beginning, increases quickly until the MC reaches an equilibrium moisture content (EMC) and then becomes stable, which is quite different from that in a water-saturated state. Fluidity in a desorption state is much higher than in a water-saturated state. This is probably due to the fact that the former is in an unstable state which can be interpreted as a state with internal strain and has therefore a greater potential to release strain.展开更多

In the...A finite element vibration model of a multiple wheel-rail system which consists of four wheels, one rail, and a series of sleepers is established to address the problem of rail corrugation in high-speed tracks. In the model, the creep forces between the wheels and rail are considered to be saturated and equal to the normal contact forces times the friction coefficient. The oscillation of the rail is coupled with that of wheels in the action of the saturated creep forces. When the coupling is strong, self- excited oscillation of the wheel-rail system occurs. The self-excited vibration propensity of the model is analyzed using the complex eigenvalue method. Results show that there are strong propensities of unstable self-excited vibrations whose frequencies are less than 1,200 Hz under some conditions. Preventing wheels from slipping on rails is an effective method for suppressing rail corrugation in high-speed tracks.展开更多

The nonlinear elastic impedance inversion method based on a fast Markov chain M...Elastic impedance inversion with high efficiency and high stability has become one of the main directions of seismic pre-stack inversion. The nonlinear elastic impedance inversion method based on a fast Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is proposed in this paper, combining conventional MCMC method based on global optimization with a preconditioned conjugate gradient (PCG) algorithm based on local optimization, so this method does not depend strongly on the initial model. It converges to the global optimum quickly and efficiently on the condition that effi- ciency and stability of inversion are both taken into consid- eration at the same time. The test data verify the feasibility and robustness of the method, and based on this method, we extract the effective pore-fluid bulk modulus, which is applied to reservoir fluid identification and detection, and consequently, a better result has been achieved.展开更多
