Through the test, calculation and analysis on the received signal strength indication (RSSI) and the variance of RSSI, we propose a novel variance-based fingerprint distance adjustment algorithm (VFDA). Based on the rule that variance decreases with the increase of RSSI mean, VFDA calculates RSSI variance with the mean value of received RSSIs. Then, we can get the correction weight. VFDA adjusts the fingerprint distances with the correction weight based on the variance of RSSI, which is used to correct the fingerprint distance. Besides, a threshold value is applied to VFDA to improve its performance further. VFDA and VFDA with the threshold value are applied in two kinds of real typical indoor environments deployed with several Wi-Fi access points. One is a quadrate lab room, and the other is a long and narrow corridor of a building. Experimental results and performance analysis show that in indoor environments, both VFDA and VFDA with the threshold have better positioning accuracy and environmental adaptability than the current typical positioning methods based on the k-nearest neighbor algorithm and the weighted k-nearest neighbor algorithm with similar computational costs.展开更多

The study on cloud detection from the visual band of a satellite image is developed. Firstly, we consider the differences between the cloud and ground including high grey level, good continuity of grey level, area of cloud region, and the variance of local fractal dimension (VLFD) of the cloud region. A single cloud region detection method is proposed. Secondly, by introducing a reference satellite image and by comparing the variance in the dimensions corresponding to the reference and the tested images, a method that detects multiple cloud regions and determines whether or not the cloud exists in an image is described. By using several Ikonos images, the performance of the proposed method is demonstrated.展开更多

It is difficult for the receiver to utilize the part instead of global knowledge....In cooperative localization with sparse communication networks, an agent maybe only receives part of locating messages from the others. It is difficult for the receiver to utilize the part instead of global knowledge. Under the extended Kalman filtering, the utilization of the locating message is maximized by two aspects: the locating message generating and multi-locating messages fusing. For the former, the covariance upper-bound technique, by introducing amplification coefficients, is employed to remove the dependency of locating messages on the global knowledge. For the latter, an optimization model is setup; the covariance matrix determinant of the receiver's state estimate, expressed as a function of the amplification coefficients, is selected as the optimization criterion, under linear constraints on the amplification coefficient characteristics and the communication connectivity. Using the optimization solution, the local optimal state of the receiver agent is obtained by the weighting fusion. Simulation with seven agents is shown to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.展开更多

The spatial correlation of motion field is used to reduce the burden of estimation computation and extra bit rate for motion vectors. 针对复杂场景下存在背景变化剧烈、杂波较多、信噪比低而造成红外弱小目标检测准确率低、虚警率高的问题,提出利用图像全局信息与局部对比度结合的红外弱小目标检测算法。算法利用方差和信杂比对图像的所有像素点统计分析,将图像做全局...针对复杂场景下存在背景变化剧烈、杂波较多、信噪比低而造成红外弱小目标检测准确率低、虚警率高的问题,提出利用图像全局信息与局部对比度结合的红外弱小目标检测算法。算法利用方差和信杂比对图像的所有像素点统计分析,将图像做全局处理得到特征图,以适应灰度变化剧烈的复杂背景,同时抑制大量平缓背景杂波,提高目标的信杂比。针对特征图中主要存在的强背景边缘噪声和高亮像素点噪声,采用加权绝对方向平均差(weighted absolute directional mean difference,WADMD)算法,将目标与背景的强度差异作为加权系数,计算目标与各方向背景的绝对平均差,并使用判断门限抑制负对比度,抑制高亮度噪声的同时,提高目标的显著性。实验表明,与对比算法相比,本文算法能够适应多变的复杂背景,对目标信杂比提升更明显,鲁棒性更好。展开更多
