The sample data are selected from Washington-Baltimore Household Travel Survey in 2007,including all the trips from home to workplace in morning hours in Baltimore city. Traditional multinomial logit model using Bayesian approach is also estimated. A comparison of the two different models shows that ignoring the spatial context can lead to a misspecification of the effects of the regional transit service on travel behavior. The results reveal that improving transit service at regional level can be effective in reducing auto use for commuters after controlling for socio-demographics and travel-related factors. This work provides insights for interpreting tour-based commuter travel behavior by using recently developed methodological approaches. The results of this work will be helpful for engineers, urban planners, and transit operators to decide the needs to improve regional transit service and spatial location efficiently.展开更多

To solve these technical problems of poor production safety conditions and difficulties in production convergence during the transition period, in this study, based on the case of the Dagu Mountain Mine, a new transition mode of wedge switching for collaborative mining is proposed and established, which is suitable for collaborative mining. This new mining process completely eliminates the boundary pillar and the artificial covering layer, combining the technology of the mining-induced caving method and the technology of deep mining at the bottom of the open-pit. The results show that 1) the optimization of the open-pit boundary reduces the amount of rock stripping, and 2) it achieves a stable transition of collaborative mining capacity. The study shows that the proposed method uses the technologies of the mining-induced caving method in underground mining and deep mining at the bottom of the open pit in open-pit mining, and the method then optimizes the open-pit mining in detail by comparing the advantages of open-pit mining and underground mining. This study provides true and accurate technical support for the transition from open-pit mining to underground mining.展开更多

In order to study the effect ofb on the wettability of the rough surface, the effects of apparent contact angle (CA) and sliding angle (a) of the droplet on the rough surface were measured with the contact angle meter. The results show that the experimental values of CA well agree with the classical wetting theory and a decreases with the increase of b. Two drop shapes exist on the samples' surface, corresponding to the Cassie state and the Wenzel state respectively. The contact state in which a drop would settle depends typically on the size of b. On the role of gravitation, the irreversible transition of a drop from Cassie state to Wenzel state should occur at a certain space of the square pillars. Since the transition has implications on the application of super-hydrophobic rough surfaces, theoretically, the prediction of wetting state transition on square pillar array micro-structured surfaces provides an intuitionistic guidance for the design of steady superhydrophobic surfaces.展开更多
