By means of first order Taylor’s incomplete series expansion (i.e. no expansion to the length of the ray), a symmetry block tridiagonal matrix equation set was deduced. Further, the positive definiteness of coefficient matrix was discussed, and the positive definiteness was accurately proved in a mathematical way. It assured that the algorithm was well-posed. Associated with iterative method, the solution to ray tracing can be got through step-by-step linearized iteration of the nonlinear problem. An algorithm of the whole path iterative ray tracing method in three-dimensional velocity structure was obtained. This method shows a clear and simple as well as explicit computation formula, which makes ray tracing computation easily applicable in practice. The correction vector is obtained through finding the solution to the positive definite block tridiagonal equation set, which ensures the method is robust convergence. This study offers a new kind of feasible and efficient ray tracing method for three dimensional seismic migration and tomography. Meanwhile, it also provides the prerequisite guarantee to design a fast algorithm.展开更多

Identifying potential hazards is crucial for maintaining the structural stability of opencast mining area.To address the limitations of irregular structure and sparse microseismic events in opencast mining monitoring,...Identifying potential hazards is crucial for maintaining the structural stability of opencast mining area.To address the limitations of irregular structure and sparse microseismic events in opencast mining monitoring,this paper proposes an active-source imaging method for identifying potential hazards precisely based on velocity structure.This method innovatively divides the irregular structure into unstructured grids and introduces a damping and smoothing regularization operator into the inversion process,mitigating the ill-posedness caused by the sparse distribution of events and rays.Numerical and laboratory experiments were conducted to verify the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed method.The results demonstrate the competitive performance of the method in identifying hazard areas of varying sizes and numbers.The proposed method shows potential for meeting hazard identification requirements in the complex opencast mining structure.Furthermore,field experiments were conducted on an rare earth mine slope.It confirms that the proposed method provides a more concrete and intuitive scheme for stability monitoring for the microseismic monitoring system.This paper not only demonstrates the application of acoustic structure velocity imaging technology in detecting unstructured potential hazard regions but also provides valuable insights into the construction and maintenance of stable opencast mining area.展开更多
For the underwater long baseline(LBL)positioning systems,the traditional distance intersection algorithm simplifies the sound speed to a constant,and calculates the underwa-ter target position parameters with a nonlin...For the underwater long baseline(LBL)positioning systems,the traditional distance intersection algorithm simplifies the sound speed to a constant,and calculates the underwa-ter target position parameters with a nonlinear iteration.However,due to the complex underwater environment,the sound speed changes with time and space,and then the acoustic propagation path is actually a curve,which inevitably causes some errors to the traditional distance intersection positioning algorithm.To reduce the position error caused by the uncertain underwater sound speed,a new time of arrival(TOA)intersection underwater positioning algorithm of LBL system is proposed.Firstly,combined with the vertical layered model of the underwater sound speed,an implicit positioning model of TOA intersection is constructed through the constant gradient acoustic ray tracing.And then an optimization function based on the overall TOA residual square sum is advanced to solve the position parameters for the underwater target.Moreover,the particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm is replaced with the tra-ditional nonlinear least square method to optimize the implicit positioning model of TOA intersection.Compared with the traditional distance intersection positioning model,the TOA intersec-tion positioning model is more suitable for the engineering practice and the optimization algorithm is more effective.Simulation results show that the proposed methods in this paper can effectively improve the positioning accuracy for the underwater target.展开更多
The space partitioning algorithm based on the rounding and addressing operations has been proved to be an efficient space partitioning algorithm with the potential for real-time calculation.An improvement on this kind...The space partitioning algorithm based on the rounding and addressing operations has been proved to be an efficient space partitioning algorithm with the potential for real-time calculation.An improvement on this kind of space partitioning algorithms for solving complex 3D models is presented.Numerical examples show that the efficiency of the improved algorithm is better than that of the original method.When the size of most target elements is smaller than the size of spatial grids,the efficiency of the improved method can be more than four times of that of the original method.An adaptive method of space partitioning based on the improved algorithm is developed by taking the surface element density or the curvature as the threshold for deep partitioning and conducting the deep partitioning using the octree method.A computer program implementation for applying the method in some typical applications is discussed,and the performance in terms of the efficiency,reliability,and resource use is evaluated.Application testing shows that the results of the adaptive spacing partitioning are more convenient for the follow-up use than that of the basic uniform space partitioning.Furthermore,when it is used to calculate the electromagnetic scattering of complex targets by the ray tracing(RT)method,the adaptive space partitioning algorithm can reduce the calculation time of the RT process by more than 40%compared with the uniform space segmentation algorithm.展开更多

Research on virtual machining environment is one of the key parts of virtual manufacturi...With the rapid development of manufacturing technology, the traditional simulation of machining can not meet the people’s need. Research on virtual machining environment is one of the key parts of virtual manufacturing technology. According to the features of virtual turning, this paper proposes a simplified Whitted lighting model based on analysis of Phong and other local illumination model. This model takes the material and roughness of workpiece into account to calculate the roughness coefficient D, geometric fading coefficient G and Fresenel transmission coefficient F’ so that the light intensity in the scene can be got more realisticly. Moreover, to obtain the natural lighting effects, based on the analysis of motion space of machine tools, local ray tracing algorithm is given to calculate the light intensity of every position during the course of simulation. This method can not only simulate the machining environment accurately, but also reduce the calculating time greatly. For example, if CPU is 1.3 G and internal memory is 128 M, the refresh time using the original algorithm is 0.1 second, while it becomes 0.01 seconds by local refreshing. Besides, to get more realistic machining scene, the paper deduce the transfer matrix from chip coordinate to feeding coordinate so that the chip model can be integrated into the whole machining scene. At last, a example of virtual cutting scene is shown to demonstrate the effects of global illumination model and helical chip simulation. The system can give the user high true sensation. The user can operate the machine tools through the controlling panel and watch the cutting process from different viewing angle. The data needed for construction of scene and chip simulation is obtained form the C616 lathe. This study plays important role in richening virtual manufacturing theory and promoting the development of advanced manufacturing technology.展开更多
