Probabilistic evaluation on seismic stability of three dimensional (3D) slopes is studied in this paper. The slope safety factor is computed by combining the kinematic approach of limit analysis using a three-dimensional rotational failure mechanism with the pseudo-dynamic approach. The variability of input parameters, including six pseudo-dynamic parameters and two soil shear strength parameters, are taken into account by means of Monte-Carlo Simulations (MCS) method. The influences of pseudo-dynamic input variables on the computed failure probabilities are investigated and discussed. It is shown that the obtained failure probabilities increase with the pseudo-dynamic input variables and the pseudo-dynamic approach gives more conservative failure probability estimates compared with the pseudo-static approach.展开更多

文摘The three common genetic models(or modes of inheritance)in association analysis are the dominant, additive, and recessive models. It is known that the Cochran-Armitage trend test(CATT)which correctly incorporates information from genetic models,is more powerful than the commonly used Pearson’s chi-square test. However, the true genetic model is usually unknown in practice, and the power of the CAT test could be substantially reduced with a wrongly specified genetic model. To achieve a power that is close to that of a correctly specified CAT test,it is natural to apply trend tests under different possible genetic models and to report the most significant test result. This results in a MAX-type testing procedure, and it was found that this test is usually more powerful than the Pearson’s chi-square test.Although the signi-ficance(i.e.,p value)of the MAX-type test can be accessed by either large sample approximation or permutation methods, requirements for sample size or simulation replicates are demanding with respect to accuracy and efficiency. This paper proposes an approach to calculate the exact p values of MAX-type tests based on the combinatorial counting method. The simulation results show that the exact method is more accurate than the large sample approximation methods and more computationally efficient than the permutation method, and our method can be readily applied to genome-wide association studies(GWASs).The proposed methodis built in an R package,MaXact, which is available at the https://github.com/Myuan 2019/MaXact/.
文摘Digital radiographic(DR)testing equipment has been widely promoted and applied in the inspection of circumferential welds in oil and gas pipelines. In order to establish a comprehensive quality control system for digital radiographic testing and fully evaluate the integrated system inspection ability of equipment, personnel, and processes,a scientific and standardized evaluation method to the system is very necessary. Here investigates the precedents of relevant non-destructive testing evaluation methods at home and abroad, considers the testing characteristics of DR equipment, develops a complete set of DR testing system evaluation procedures. It deeply studies the adaptability methods of program processes from defect production to slicing processing and data statistical calculation for digital radiographic testing evaluation. To check the repeatability and reliability of the detectable system, five process welds with 200 real metallographic defects were fabricated in the laboratory. From the detected results, the DR system has good repeatability in image quality, and the detectable defect size reaches 0.85 mm under achieving 90%detection probability at a confidence level of 95%,the error of detected defect length is±2 mm,and the error of detected defect localization is±5 mm.The qualitative and quantitative detection of defects are accurate and reliable. The test further confirmed the reliable detection ability of the DR detection system, and fully validated the scientific and practical evaluation method designed. The research on the evaluation test method can serve as an important link in the quality control system for the on-site application of digital ray equipment in long-distance pipelines. The designed program, test, and evaluation content can serve as an important basis for the formulation of relevant specifications or standards.

文摘Group testing is a method that can be used to estimate the prevalence of rare infectious diseases, which can effectively save time and reduce costs compared to the method of random sampling. However, previous literature only demonstrated the optimality of group testing strategy while estimating prevalence under some strong assumptions. This article weakens the assumption of misclassification rate in the previous literature, considers the misclassification rate of the infected samples as a differentiable function of the pool size, and explores some optimal properties of group testing for estimating prevalence in the presence of differential misclassification conforming to this assumption. This article theoretically demonstrates that the group testing strategy performs better than the sample by sample procedure in estimating disease prevalence when the total number of sample pools is given or the size of the test population is determined.Numerical simulation experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of group tests in estimating prevalence in the presence of dilution effect.
文摘Technological trends in the automotive industry toward a software-defined and autonomous vehicle require a reassessment of today’s vehicle development process. The validation process soaringly shapes after starting with hardware-in-the-loop testing of control units and reproducing real-world maneuvers and physical interaction chains. Here, the road-to-rig approach offers a vast potential to reduce validation time and costs significantly. The present research study investigates the maneuver reproduction of drivability phenomena at a powertrain test bed.Although drivability phenomena occur in the frequency range of most up to 30∙Hz,the design and characteristics substantially impact the test setup’s validity.By utilization of modal analysis, the influence of the test bed on the mechanical characteristic is shown.Furthermore, the sensitivity of the natural modes of each component, from either specimen or test bed site,is determined. In contrast, the uncertainty of the deployed measurement equipment also affects the validity.Instead of an accuracy class indication,we apply the ISO/IEC Guide 98 to the measurement equipment and the test bed setup to increase the fidelity of the validation task.In conclusion, the present paper contributes to a traceable validity determination of the road-to-rig approach by providing objective metrics and methods.
