This study unveils the possibility of using PP micro-fibres to improve the impact behaviour of fibre-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete(FRUHPC) columns. Results show that the addition of fibres significantly improves the impact behaviour of FRUHPC columns by shifting the failure mechanism from brittle shear to favourable flexural failure. The addition of steel or PP fibres affected the impact responses differently. Steel fibres considerably increased the peak impact force(up to 18%) while PP micro-fibres slightly increased the peak(3%-4%). FRUHPC significantly reduced the maximum midheight displacement by up to 30%(under 20°impact) and substantially improved the displacement recovery by up to 100%(under 20° impact). FRUHPC with steel fibres significantly improved the energy absorption while those with PP micro-fibres reduced the energy absorption, which is different from the effect of PP-macro fibre reported in the literature. The optimal fibre content for micro-PP fibres is 1% due to its minimal fibre usage and low peak and residual displacement. This study highlights the potential of FRUHPC as a promising material for impact-resistant structures by creating a more favourable flexural failure mechanism, enhancing ductility and toughness under impact loading, and advancing the understanding of the role of fibres in structural performance.展开更多

The experiment consists of a total of 10 one-half-scale beams subjected to different levels of blast loading using live explosives. The reflected pressure-time histories were recorded and different damage levels and modes were observed. The blast resilience of the damaged beams was quantified by measuring the time-dependent displacements. Experiment results show that the damage in steel reinforced concrete beams with higher explosive mass is enhanced compared with that of the beams with smaller explosive mass at the same scaled distance. Based on the experiment data, an empirical expression is developed via dimensional analysis to correct the relationship between the midspan displacement and scaled distance. Besides, a complex single degree of freedom model(SDOF)incorporating complex features of the material behavior, high strain-rate effect and the column geometry was proposed and validated by test results.展开更多

Concrete specimens were subjected to four different deterioration time from 45 days to 180 days, with an interval of 45 days. The results showed that the carbonization depth of concrete increased speedy at first, then gently and then rapidly again with the change of fragility. The compressive strength of concrete increased at the initial stage of deterioration, and then decreased until the time of 135 days when they came to the second ascension of small quantity and then entered the decline trend under the coupling effect of carbonization and acid-salt attack. The elastic modulus changed slightly with the deterioration, meanwhile the fragility and ductility changed significantly before and after deterioration time of 180 days, which was identical to the failure modes.展开更多

Twenty three p-section concrete beams with a 100 cm length were tested. TNT charges were placed at three positions: contact detonation in the center, contact detonation above the web and close-in detonation in the center. The external and internal breach parameters of the panels were evaluated by measuring the diameter of the ejection crater, spalling crater and breach hole created by the charge detonation. The experimental results were compared to predict values obtained by the analytical models proposed by McVay, Morishita and Remennikov. A modified breach with crater limit line and breach without crater limit line were put forward based on the experimental results. The maximum cross-sectional destruction area ratio(MCDAR) values were used to evaluate the damage degree. The maximum value of MCDAR reached 0.331 corresponding to the C5 experimental condition, of which explosion occurred above the web.展开更多

文摘Polypropylene(PP) fibres have primarily used to control shrinkage cracks or mitigate explosive spalling in concrete structures exposed to fire or subjected to impact/blast loads, with limited investigations on capacity improvement. This study highlights the potential of FRUHPC as a promising material for impact-resistant structures by creating a more favourable flexural failure mechanism, enhancing ductility and toughness under impact loading, and advancing the understanding of the role of fibres in structural performance.

Graphs showing the drag coefficient CD versus Reynolds number Re and lift coefficient CL versus Reynolds number Re were produced.

文摘The influence of glycol, the main composition of the most frequently used aircraft dicer,on the freeze-thaw durability of high performance concrete(HPC)is investigated.Freeze-thaw durability of HPC is tested by accelerated freeze-thaw test.Four kinds of the solution,i.e.,tap water,3.5% NaCl solution, glycol solutions, and a LBR-A type commercial aircraft deicer are employed. Results show that freeze-thaw durability of HPC exposed to glycol solutions is closely related to the solution concentrations. The failure of HPC exposed to 3.5% glycol solution is similar to that of those exposed to 3.5% NaCl solution,i.e.,serious surface scaling. While the damage of HPC exposed to 12.5%—25% glycol solutions is postponed.Compared with glycol solution, the commercial aircraft deicer has much more negative effects on HPC freeze-thaw durability compared with 3.5% NaCl solution. In the presence of commercial aircraft deicer for HPC subjected to freeze-thaw cycles, the deterioration is mainly due to scaling and spalling.
文摘Aim To determine the stress on wall of the spherical cavity while the spherical cavity expanding in concrete. Methods In Eulerian coordinate, the dimensionless radial stress equations were derived for the spherically symmetric, cavity expansion problem in plastic and elastic region of concrete by means of the similarity transformation. In the equations, Mohr Coulomb yield criterion was used. Results The dimensionless radial stress profiles were obtained. The relation between the dimensionless radial stress and the locked volumetric strain was analysed. Conclusion The test results show that the relative error between the model, which is applied in the closed form penetration equations that are developed, and the test data is less than 15.8%.

文摘Beam stiffness degrades with its age in service and its service performance is weakened.According to the fundamental characteristics of the reinforced concrete, the influence of stiffness degradation caused by different kinds of damage is obtained.Among them, the crack is the most direct and obvious factor.Furthermore, according to the analysis of bending rigidity formula presented in current standard,an influence parameter of crack development on the stiffness degradation,i.e.,nonuniformity coefficient of tensile steel strain φ,is extracted.Average crack distance and crack depth are taken as crack statistic parameters.Based on analysis and modeling with ANSYS,the modified bending rigidity formula related to crack is obtained.

文摘The impact of fly ash content on bond performance of steel bars and their surrounding concrete is studied by means of sticking strain gauges on steel bars. The average bond stress-slip curves, the steel strain-anchor location curves, and the bond stress-anchor position curves of the pullout specimens with various fly ash contents are obtained. Results indicate that the bond performance of concrete and steel bars can be improved and the distribution of steel strain along the anchorage length tends to be more uniform by adding fly ash in concrete specimens, and both ultimate bond stress and ultimate slip deformation increase the most when 20% of specimens′ content is fly ash.

文摘In this study, the blast performance of steel reinforced concrete(RC) beams was experimentally and analytically investigated. Besides, a complex single degree of freedom model(SDOF)incorporating complex features of the material behavior, high strain-rate effect and the column geometry was proposed and validated by test results.

文摘Experimental investigations were taken for the degradation of concrete under coupling effects of hydrochloric acid mist and mixed salt mist consisting of chlorine and sulfate and carbon dioxide according to coal mine environment. The elastic modulus changed slightly with the deterioration, meanwhile the fragility and ductility changed significantly before and after deterioration time of 180 days, which was identical to the failure modes.

文摘This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on explosive breaching of p-section concrete beams. The maximum value of MCDAR reached 0.331 corresponding to the C5 experimental condition, of which explosion occurred above the web.

文摘Autoclaved aerated concrete(AAC) panels have ultra-light weight, excellent thermal insulation and energy absorption,so it is an ideal building material for protective structures. To improve the blast resistance of the AAC panels, three schemes are applied to strengthen the AAC panels through spraying 4 mm thick polyurea coating from top, bottom and double-sides.In three-point bending tests, the polyurea-coated AAC panels have much higher ultimate loads than the un-coated panels, but slightly lower than those strengthened by the carbon fiber reinforced plastics(CEFRPs).Close-in explosion experiments reveal the dynamic strengthening effect of the polyurea coating.Critical scaled distances of the strengthened AAC panels are acquired, which are valuable for the engineering application of the AAC panels in the extreme loading conditions.Polyurea coatings efficiently enhance the blast resistance of the bottom and double-sided polyurea-coated AAC panels. It is interesting that the polyurea-coated AAC panels have much more excellent blast resistance than the CFRP reinforced AAC panels, although the latter have better static mechanical properties.

文摘Stability and accuracy of the imaging results are still unmet practical demands for ultrasonic computed tomography(CT)of concrete material. To address these issues,a CT technique based on simulated annealing genetic algorithm(SAGA)is presented in this work.Firstly,a natural weight matrix with clear physical meaning is introduced in the inverse algorithm and then a quadric broadening objective function is formed according to the propagation characteristics of ultrasound in concrete. After that, the simulated annealing(SA)searching is added to speed up the inverse process and to improve the convergence and stability of the algorithm. Finally, the optimal inverse imaging results have been achieved by variable ectopic adaptive genetic algorithm. The numerical simulation experiments have shown that the usage of the correct priori information and the excellent characteristic of SAGA in searching the global minimum value of the function have produced accurate and effective results with stable numerical values. The imaging resolution is improved and the imagining results reflecting the inner defections of the tested objects are more reliable and accurate.
