The results indicate that oxidized hematite pellets require higher preheating temperature and longer preheating time to attain required compression strength of pellets compared with the common magnetite oxidized pellets. It is found that when the hematite concentrates are pretreated by high pressure roll grinding (HPRG), the compression strengths of preheated and roasted oxidized hematite pellets get improved even with lower preheating and roasting temperatures and shorter preheating and roasting time. The mechanism for HPRG to improve roasting properties of oxidized pellets were investigated and the cause mainly lies in the increase of micro-sized particles and the decrease of dispersion degree for hematite concentrates, which promotes the hematite concentrate particles to be compacted, the solid-phase crystallization, and finally the formation of Fe203 bonding bridges during subsequent high temperature roasting process.展开更多

In this work, the effects of hydrogen concentration in N_2-CO-H_2 atmosphere with unchanged CO content on reduction swelling behaviors of oxidized pellet at 1173 K were studied, to clarify the mechanism of hydrogen-enriched reduction and exclude the influences of CO. Then, the reduction swelling behaviors of oxidized pellet at 1173 K in actual atmosphere under coke oven gas(COG) injection, got from the simulation results of multi-fluid blast furnace model, were investigated. The results show that with the concentration of hydrogen increasing in N_2-CO-H_2 gas from 2% to 18%, the reduction swelling index of pellet decreases from 10.12% to 5.57% while the reduction ratio of pellet increases obviously from 39.85% to 69.58%. In addition, with COG injection rate increasing from 0 to 152.34 m^3/t, the reduction swelling index of pellet decreases slightly from 10.71% to 9.54% while the reduction ratio of pellet is increased from 31.57% to 36.39%. The microstructures of pellet are transformed from the platy structure to the flocculent structure.展开更多

Further, high-alumina hematite pellets show very high reduction degradation index(RDI) during low temperature(500-650 ℃) reduction due to their volume expansion and lattice distortion. Noamundi(India) hematite ore contains very high Al2O3(2.3%) with adverse ratio of alumina to silica(~2) for which, it shows very high RDI. In this work, the acid pellets prepared from Noamundi ore fines of optimum Blaine fineness show good cold crushing strength(CCS). However, it shows very high RDI(77%). In order to reduce RDI, Mg O in form of two different gangue-containing fluxes, such as pyroxenite and olivine in varying quantities has been added. The optimum requirement and performance of these fluxes has been examined and compared. Both pyroxenite and olivine fluxed pellets show significant lowering of RDI(26% and 23%, respectively) and improvement of other properties, viz CCS, swelling indices etc with good reducibility(70%-77%). Finally, a good quality acidic hematite pellet was developed from high-alumina ore without using any lime which is very important charge material in combination of basic sinter in blast furnace.展开更多

And the artificial magnetite pellet at the temperature of 400℃ has the oxidation degree approaching to natural magnetite concentrate pellet fired at 1000℃. Besides, two kinds of pellets displayed quite different roasting characteristics. When preheated at the same temperature for the same period of time, natural magnetite concentrate pellet and artificial magnetite concentrate pellet need to be roasted at the temperature of 1100℃ and 1250℃, respectively, for 25 min to reach the compressive strength of 3000 N per pellet. When roasted at the same temperature of 1200℃, natural magnetite pellet and artificial magnetite pellet need to be roasted for 15 min and 30 min, respectively, to reach the compressive strength over 3000 N per pellet. It can be seen from the test that artificial magnetite pellet has a faster oxidation, resulting in the high porosity in the produced pellet, and it requires a roasting process at higher temperature for a longer time to reach the desired compressive strength for industrial production.展开更多

However, manganese ore fines are mainly agglomerated by sintering due to its high combined water which adversely affects the roasting performance of pellets. In this work, high pressure roll grinding(HPRG) process and optimization of temperature elevation system were investigated to improve the strength of fired manganese ore pellets. It is shown that the manganese ore possesses good ballability after being pretreated by HPRG twice, and good green balls were produced under the conditions of blending 2.0% bentonite in the feed, balling for 7 min at 16.00% moisture. High quality roasted pellets with the compressive strength of 2711 N per pellet were manufactured through preheating at 1050 °C for 10 min and firing at 1335 °C for 15 min by controlling the cracks formation. The fired manganese pellets keep the strength by the solid interconnection of recrystallized pyrolusite grains and the binding of manganite liquid phase which filled the pores and clearance among minerals. The product pellets contain high Mn grade and low impurities, and can be used to smelt ferromanganese, which provides a possible way to use imported manganese ore fines containing high combined water to produce high value ferromanganese.展开更多

The pre-reduced pellets, with a porous structure, and fine particles are carburized homogeneously at 400-650 ℃ in a CO atmosphere. The carburized carbon not only acts reaction as a reduction agent, but also absorbs microwave in the reduction process. Hence, the carburized pre-reduced pellets can be rapidly reduced by microwave heating. There are three procedures involved in the process, namely, gas-based pre-reduction, low-temperatttre carburization and deep reduction by microwave heating. Carburized pre-reduced iron ore pellets show a rapid temperature rise that is twice as fast as the results for pre-reduced pellets in the laboratory. This not only improves the efficiency of the microwave heating, but also accelerates the reduction of iron oxides. The temperature of the pre-reduced pellets rises to 1050 ℃ in 45 min when the carburization rate is 2.02%, and the metallization rate and compressive strength reach 94.24% and 1725 N/pellet, respectively.展开更多

The microstructures of pellet are transformed from the platy structure to the flocculent structure.
文摘Pelletization of hematite ore requires high fineness and very high induration temperature(~1325 ℃) owing to its poor diffusion bonding unlike magnetite ore. Finally, a good quality acidic hematite pellet was developed from high-alumina ore without using any lime which is very important charge material in combination of basic sinter in blast furnace.

文摘Compared with natural magnetite concentrate, artificial magnetite with more lattice defects and higher activity tends to be oxidized. It can be seen from the test that artificial magnetite pellet has a faster oxidation, resulting in the high porosity in the produced pellet, and it requires a roasting process at higher temperature for a longer time to reach the desired compressive strength for industrial production.

文摘Pelletization is one of useful processes for the agglomeration of iron ore or concentrates. The product pellets contain high Mn grade and low impurities, and can be used to smelt ferromanganese, which provides a possible way to use imported manganese ore fines containing high combined water to produce high value ferromanganese.

文摘Grate process is an important step in grate-kiln pellet production. However,as a relatively closed system, the process on grate is inaccessible to direct detection, therefore,it is hard to control. As a result, mathematical models of temperature distribution, moisture distribution and oxidation degree distribution in pellet bed, with good universality, computation speed and calculation accuracy, are presented based on analysis of heat transfer and physical-chemical reactions during grate process. And real-time visualization of temperature, moisture and oxidation degree distribution in pellet bed during grate process is realized.Model validation is displayed, and the similarity of 91% is proved. The results can reveal real time status on grate, and provide a solid foundation for the subsequent study of artificial intelligence control system of pellet production.

文摘A new iron-making process using carburized pre-reduced iron ore pellets and microwave heating is investigated. The temperature of the pre-reduced pellets rises to 1050 ℃ in 45 min when the carburization rate is 2.02%, and the metallization rate and compressive strength reach 94.24% and 1725 N/pellet, respectively.

文摘In this study, the effects of drying temperature, hot airflow speed and diameter of green pellet on drying rate of artificial magnetite pellet were deeply investigated to clarify the drying characteristics of artificial magnetite green pellet. The results show that the drying process of artificial magnetite green pellet has three stages, accelerated drying stage, constant drying stage and decelerated drying stage. And drying temperature and hot airflow speed both have significant reciprocal effects on moisture ratio and drying rate of green pellet during the drying process. However, the diameter of green pellet has little effect on drying process of green pellet. Then the drying fitting models of Correction Henderson and Pabis,Lewis,Correction Page(III),Wang and Singh are used to describe the drying kinetics of artificial magnetite green pellet. The fitting results indicate that the drying process of artificial magnetite pellet can be described by Correction Page(III)model accurately. Finally, the contrast experiments demonstrate that the fitting model can well describe the actual drying process.

文摘This work studies the amount of gaseous and particle emissions and deposits on heat exchanger surfaces in a boiler firedwith commercially available pellets and with pellets primed with magnesium oxide and magnesium hydroxide. The combustionexperiments were performed on a residential boiler of 20 kW.Substrates placed in the heat exchanger was analysed with SEM-EDX-mapping to evaluate the chemical composition of the deposits. The results show that particle emissions(PM 2.5)using the additivesincreased by about 50%and the mass of the deposits in the flue gas heat exchanger(excluding loose fly ash)increased by about25%compared to the combustion of pellets without additives. The amount of additives was found to be eight times higher than theamount of the main alkali metals potassium(K)and sodium(Na)which leads to the assumption that the additives were overdosedand therefore caused the problems reported. The SEM analysis of the substrates placed in the flue gas heat exchanger indicate that thedeposits of sodium(Na),potassium(K),chlorine(Cl)and sulphur(S)decrease using the additives. If this was due to theexpected chemical reactions or due to the loose fly ash covering the substrates after the test, could not be determined in this study.
文摘The existing studies on the pelleting process were reviewed, and then the forming process of pelleting was introduced. Furthermore, the models describing the production yield and energy consumption of pelleting were presented. Based on the models, the influence of the pelleting structure parameters, die speed on the production yield and energy consumption were discussed. The results showed that larger pellet mill was preferred and the proper speed of the die should be selected to increase the production yield and reduce the energy consumption.
